After nearly getting used to Swiss hotel practices, arriving at the room in this property was like coming home, except, of course, no microwave or fridge. The pillows in 502 were not up to the comfort level of those at the US HIEs, either. But everything worked, and the reception desk did their best. The dinner meal was like many Swiss meals: expensive and not bad. The breakfast was better than HIE in the States. The shuttle situation is not great. First, the wait was thirty minutes. The driver was not pleasant and clearly expected a tip. The early AM driver was just the opposite --pleasant, obviously did not expect a tip, and was pleased to get one. BTW, you pay for the return trip to the Airport. Will we stay here again? Probably.
I booked this hotel for one night on my way back home to Los Angeles. When I got there I first noticed that there was no one around except the receptionists, no one at the bar and no one in the restaurant. I thought that was a little odd, but I thought whatever. Was checked in, had booked a non refundable room, got my room key and went up there. As I opened the door, the heat and the smell hit me. I brought my luggage in and noticed that the sofa bed was out and made ( I was a solo traveler). There was no room to put my suitcases so I called the front desk to have someone come fix that and the A/C (I know it's winter but is was absolutely stifling in there). A man came up and proceeded to put the bed away. As he lifted it up to fold it back in, a significant amount of fluid starting running out the legs. Unfortunately he spoke little English and didn't seem to understand what I was trying to draw his attention to. He then tried to fix the room temperature but was unable to and brought a fan instead. By this time I was getting a little concerned but I told myself that I was staying only one night. I then tried to connect to the WiFI, which showed that it was connected, but the signal was so weak that it wouldn't connect to anything. The smell was overcoming me and I started to cough. Between that and a few other annoyances, I decided to leave (within 45 minutes of arrival). Of course they offered me another room but I was pretty fed up. I asked for a refund, which of course they refused. They did call me a taxi to take me to another hotel. All together both taxi rides cost me $70. Since I booked through Expedia so I called them but they were no help. I will be contacting Holiday Inn Express corporate office. …
Had a good comfortable stay at the Holidayinn Express Zurich. Best part is the location where the Airport is 15 mins drive and Rumlang station is 5 mins walk, From Rumlang the Zurich HB station is 20 mins through train. Have stayed many a times in Holidayinn Properties in India and they are quite lavish. There in Switzerland the rooms are small and they operate with very thin staff. So don't go with the expectations what we have in India here. Breakfast spread is limited for Veg and repetitive. Actually it was same for all the 5 days where I stayed
I hardly write a bad and long review but this time is exceptional worse services and very unsatisfied stay in this hotel. 2 of my travel mates and I arrived the hotel on the 5 Jan 2023, around 1.45pm and asked if we were ready for check in. The receptionist (she) said yes, so we got the room card (room #208). We are so grateful after a long train journey finally we can check in early and rest. When we arrived the room, the room was not clean up. We returned to the reception counter with our heavy luggage, and informed the same receptionist about the room status, but she seemed like what we told her is unbelievable, and asked us again “ Are you sure ? “ if you have a doubt with your guests, you should go up to the room and double check but not to admit your mistake, She re-asssigned another room and apologize about their "system issue". We told her is ok and get the new assigned room cards. When we arrived the new assigned room (#201), we could not open the door, even 3 of us take turn and tried different cards still fail to open the door, so I told my friends to stay as it is tired to carry the luggage up and down, so I went back to the counter alone, returned the 2 new assigned room cards and told her our problem. Very obviously this time she showed all her unprofessional attitude to me, she even questioned me “ Are you sure you know how to open the door ? ” . She returned 1 card and asked me to try , I asked her what about the other key card, she asked me just try to use this card as it could be our fault to open the doors by using 2 cards at the same time ! With very unfriendly way, she told me if I can open the door with this 1 card now then she will return me the second card. Being a frequent business and leisure traveler, I felt very angry with the insulting statement that she made, as if this is the 1st time I stay in a hotel? who will use 2 key cards to open the door at the same time ? this is really a biggest insulting statement ! She is supposed to get someone to help us instead of telling that way to the guest! What kind of unprofessional attitude service and I can’t believe that is IHG standard, even this is just Holiday Inn Express but we did not expect this kind of service quality, throughout my whole entire 2 weeks stay in Switzerland, this is the worse attitude, ever ! Finally, we managed to open the door with the new card, and went back to the reception counter to request the second key card, she did not even want to look at us when she passing us the card to us. No eyes contact at all, just put the card aside. Never even bother to ask if everything is ok ! I found this is so rude and never happened in any of my IHG hotels stay before ! In term of the room cleanliness, it was acceptable, but the duvet set up on the extra bed, please open up (inner) before place it in the duvet cover (since the cover given is queen size), but not fold half and place into an over huge cover. That is not the professional set up for an international chain of hotel group. We will never come back to this hotels anymore for both leisure and business trip ! …
The room was spacious and spotlessly clean, and the breakfast always had various choices and fresh food. The staff is so kind and polite, always friendly and smiling, keen to help you with whatever you need. Special THANK YOU to Stefanos, working at the reception! He went above and beyond to assist us with anything we needed help for.
Check out at morning on 23Dec. Everything was great except the driver of airport shuttle. He’s a young man with red jacket, not helpful, I was asking help to take the luggage and he acted nothing with no response. Please follow up. I and my family paid 30(total 5 pax) for the shuttle service. The driver yesterday( an old man) was much much better and willing to help!
Jasmin the front desk is so nice and helpful. The hotel has a very warm vibe , you can feel the staffs working there are all like a family. They help the guests with anything and chatted with us to ask if we need anything. Rooms are clean and beds too are comfortable
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The shuttle from the airport was convenient and the breakfast buffet had a good selection and the food was quite good. The price was perfect and I would stay here again.
What I expect from my hotel stay is working A/C, which this hotel did not have. It never got cooler than 80 degrees in the room. The check-in process, the staff, and the included breakfast were all just fine. The bed was comfortable enough and it's at a good location to the Rumlang train station.
Excellent. Starting with a super-friendly check-in from Yasmin who resolved a problem with the book in, I then had a comfortable bed, fast internet, tasty breakfast, and efficient and reasonably-priced transfer to the airport. Can't ask for more than that.
