We stayed here as an add on to a pre planned trip to Costa Rica, what an amazing place, and what an amazing staff! Lizza, and Alejandro, were out absolute favorites! Everyone was so sweet, so accommodating, and so welcoming, I would highly recommend this inn, it is close to the airport, and if you have an extra day or a few extra days STAY HERE AND DO THE COFFEE TOUR! The coffe is amazing and you will learn something! Much love

We stayed here 5 years ago. We chose it again for a 4 days stay because it is small, family owned, quirky. Despite this, our first impression was not good, the receptionist did not offer a warm welcome and her only question was to ask what time we were leaving the next day!. First impression counts. It is still quirky, atmospheric. The service is friendly but erratic. The food is so so, some dishes excellent, desserts though are really good. Maybe this place is no longer cared for by its owners as it once was, we formed the impression that there was a general lack of update. With nearby competition, no place can stand still and rest on its laurels, no matter how much one claims to be an environmentalist.

Dear ettemar, thank you for sharing your observations with us, and I am very sorry your experience was not up to the level you expected. I am sorry that your greeting at the check-in was less than satisfactory and we will work on this. Thanks for pointing this out. My wife and I are the owners, and we certainly care for our Inn, (which is the love of our life) in the same way or more than ever. In terms of updates, we are currently in the process of major renovations, with many beautiful and creative additions to the rooms, the public areas and the restaurant: New tables, chairs settings, lobby, artwork, colorful paint and so much more in the restaurant. In the rooms we have added beautiful new drapes, paint, bed linens and new colorful pillows and details. I am surprised you did not notice them! I hope you come back again and see what we have done and I will personally show you these wonderful additions.

The Finca is located ca 30 min from San Jose airport and 45 min from city centre, up in the hills. It‘s still a coffee plantation and whilst I missed the tour the estate ground gives visitors enough exotic feel. Beautiful trees and plants and samples of everything that grows in the region. There is a good size pool. The villas are oldy worldy, very clean, all works, but lacks a comfortable chair indoor and on the terrace with light to read. They could make the rooms more cosy. The restaurant is nice and I had a lovely dinner experience, I wish I remember the name of my waitress. Overall a nice place to take excursions from or fly out from as I did.

Dear Dagmar2011, thank you for writing in and sharing your experience. We appreciate all the constructive criticism, as it really helps us improve. We will certainly intend to add more chairs and a lamp -thanks for the suggestion! Also, thanks for the kind remarks about the restaurant - the two wait staff that you might be thinking of are either Shirley or Lizza. Again, thanks for sharing your observations and please come back again soon!

I'm glad we stayed at Finca Rosa before flying back home. Interesting and unique decor and great views of San Jose. As others have noted, the coffee tour is very worthwhile (and we bought a lot of coffee back -- a nice gift for friends). Nice staff, particularly Melissa at the front desk, who was super pleasant. Breakfast was very nice. Only negatives -- ants and other insects in our room -- I'm mindful of the surroundings but we didn't experience that in our other hotels in CR. And, although we generally enjoyed the restaurant, some dishes seemed fairly priced ($36 for a generous and tasty "catch of the day"), others not so much ($22 for a very small portion of gnocchi, not even warm when served).

Dear traveldad2018- Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences with us- we are always happy to hear from our guests and to try to improve whenever possible. We are delighted that your time spent with Ulises and the coffee tour was so gratifying, and I want to thank you for supporting our efforts with our organic forested coffee farm and its award-winning coffee (we won "best organic coffee" prize in the world in October at the World Coffee Challenge in Europe!) I am sorry about the insects in the room-they do sometimes get ambitious and enter, and we work very diligently to keep them away, but very rarely as in your experience they get unruly. We will definitely work harder to deal with this. As you mentioned, we are in a robust tropical setting and our farm is 100% organic so although the ecology is well-balanced, they do on rare occasions show up. Thanks for pointing out the issue with your gnocchi plate, I am very sorry you were served a dish that was not warm enough-we will work with the chef and the staff on this. Thank you again for sharing with us- we always appreciate constructive comments, as it helps us improve!

Very happy with the service and the food! The rooms were all very different (our large family used three) and the location had a nice view over city of San Jose from a far! The service from all staff, esp Lizza and Charlie, was great! Our 7-year old son got to help out with breakfast service (carrying one round of napkins to the laundry basket) and earned his first tip!

After a long flight from London via Paris we arrived in San Jose at around 19.00hrs, we where promptly picked up and whisked off the Finca Rosa, about 30-40 mins away. We where greeted by the wonderful staff at check-in and taken too our room, well, what a loverly room, very large balcony, we could see the lights of the capital in the distance. We had booked in for 2 nights as our starting point to our first trip to Costa Rica. The room was very spacious and very clean, great bed as well. As you would expect the coffee in the room was amazing, actually the best I tasted on our 2 week trip (just wish I had purchased some to take home, my biggest mistake). The bar and restaurant where really good, and very well priced. All I can say is what a great place to stay, when I go back to CR I will make this my first point of call once again. Finca Rosa team, keep up the great work, a fantastic resort, thanks for looking after us so well.

Dear I_J, thank you so much for writing and sharing your experience with us. It really is always so wonderful to read our guests' reviews, and our staff always is delighted to read them as well. I am glad you liked our award-winning coffee-in October we won the World Coffee Challenge award for best organic coffee in the world, so we are delighted and our staff who do almost all the work are hyper proud as well. If you want to buy some via ecommerce, our representatives in the USA are Farm Cup Coffee and in Canada, Ingredients Natural. Again, we really appreciate you taking time to share your observations, and we all hope you will be back soon to see some of the upgrades we are making and go home with an armful of our organic coffee.

Dear Supermacinroe, thank you so much for such a wonderful review! We are all giddy thinking that we did everything right and that you had such a rewarding time-which is actually our goal. I also personally love that it is written as a poem or a harmonic prose piece, as it actually enhanced our reading of the review. We all hope you will come again, and this time we will make a toast to expectations and unforgettable experiences!

Dear Beth, thanks so much for your kind comments and both Teri and I are so happy you loved Finca Rosa Blanca, especially because we know you also run a bed and breakfast yourself. As you experienced, we are dedicated to reducing our impact on the planet, but we are also focused on providing the best "farm to table" cuisine and Erick, our chef is always using our fresh, organic ingredients to raise the bar on Costa Rican dishes and to getting to your table as freshly as possible. I will share your comments with our staff, who are all from our local area and who take so much pride in our coffee highlands, our community and our Inn. Thanks again for sharing your experiences, and we hope to see you both here again, and soon!

I stayed at Finca Rosa Blanca Inn with my mother for 2 days, and we absolutely fell in love with it. From the beautiful walking trails to the extremely helpful staff it was an unforgettable, one of a kind experience. A golf cart carried our luggage from the Reception office to our gorgeous little villa, El Cielo. This suite is spacious with a comfortable King bed, a variety of pillows and a view looking out to forested hills. The highlight of this room is the private outdoor jacuzzi overlooking the jungle. We slept very well here. The coffee farm tour was outstanding, our tour guide Ulysses was super knowledgeable about coffee, the farm itself and the flora and fauna of Costa Rica. We had a lot of fun. We got to meet the owner, Glenn, who is a kind soul who is dedicated to the art of producing high-quality organic coffee. The restaurant, El Tigre Vestido serves delicious food with excellent service. I was impressed with their inventive menu made with local produce and traditional Costa Rican ingredients. Access to Finca Rosa Blanca is easy. The grounds are very quiet and peaceful. The gardens are beautifully landscaped, all nature lovers will be in heaven here. We can’t wait to come back! Thank you Finca Rosa Blanca!

Dear Jacquelaine F, Thank you so much for such a bright and detailed review of our inn and coffee farm. It was a real delight to meet you and your mom and also spending time with you at the cupping table talking about varieties of coffee, the benefits of organic coffee and the farm and its animals and birds. I will also pass along your comments to our chef, Erick Camacho, who will be so happy to hear how much you liked the farm to table style restaurant and how much you enjoyed our food, most of which is grown on our farm (organically) and in our greenhouse. Looking forward to seeing you again here soon!
