We held our wedding at the L'Abbaye de Longont (next door to the hotel), and took over the whole village for the weekend with 90 English guests. We stayed at Hotel de l'Abbaye with ~14 guests, and couldn't have been happier with it. Benoit the owner was incredibly helpful and patient, and always went the extra mile to help everything... We always stop here when we arrive in France because the village location is perfect and the 2 brothers that run it offer superb hospitality. The bedrooms and bathrooms are quite small, but then so are the prices, and the food and environment are fantastic. A true flavour of typical France.

This place is exactly what one hopes to find when booking a place to stay in France. Great rooms and excellent food, all served in an original coaching inn. This hotel/restaurant is an extremely good, honest place to stay. The owner Benoit recommends some fantastic wines to go with his wonderful oysters...... We'll be back, thanks for a great stay.

We have now stayed here 3 times and we like to make this our last stop before boarding the ferry. The hotel is comfortable and welcoming and the food is very good. This picture does not do it justice. The village itself is fascinating with a lovely ruined Cistercian Abbey set in the midst of the woodlands surrounding Compiegne. A... More

If you want to experienc France Profond then this is the place to head for. A lovely old coaching inn with friendly patron and locals. The hunt meets here in autumn Food is cooked on an indoor barbecue and is good value. This is always our first stop in France.

I have stayed twice at this hotel for one night and both times I loved it. The hotel has this authentic French look and feel. The restaurant and drinks areas are very cozy with a nice fireplace. The food is honest and tasty although no haute cuisine. The wines are good. The service is careful and attentive. The rooms are... More

when you first arrive you don't know what to make of it but it just grows on you till you are so disappointed leaving . The owner is great as is the head waiter . I think the hotel has been in the family 40 plus years . Food is lovely and the rooms are adequate but it is the... More

A bit of a surprise when you first arrive - the bar and reception are very rustic. However, the rooms are charming and comfortable - ours had a really great shower. There was a huge luncheon party going on when we arrived, and everyone seemed to be having a great time. After they'd gone it was very quiet and we... More

When travelling south from the channel ports you should always make this the first stopping destination. The village and ruined abbaye are superb and the welcome at the hotel from one if the two brothers that run it is always exceptional. I particularly like the "locals" bar and the indoor bar-b-que and all the food is very good value. Make... More

We have being coming here for about 30 years and always feel it is a great last night in France. The hotel has gradually been updated but has not lost its traditional charm. We appreciate the relaxed atmosphere, pretty setting and like the fact that the menu is very similar to that we first came across all those years ago.... More

“Take a hotel facing away from the street (i.e. facing the garden). The street is very quiet but if you are an early sleeper then the sounds of people leaving the restaurant may wake you up.”
