We visited the Whitehouse 6 and a half years ago while studying at University - we absolutely loved our stay and always said that we would go back again. Second time around, it definitely didn't disappoint! My boyfriend organised the booking, which was really straightforward over the phone with Tamara. During our drive from London to Devon, Kate phoned us...

We picked the Whitehouse as it looks like the perfect couples retreat. It certainly has many aspects that make it stand out as a quality B&B. The beautiful Emperor size bed, luxurious bathroom (with lovely Ren products), delicious breakfast and arty decor touches throughout. The hosts are also very friendly and go out their way to make sure you have...

I booked The Whitehouse through the Mr and Mrs Smith website to celebrate my partners 40th birthday. I have rated this experience as POOR, based on the Mr &Mrs Smith websites (and all other websites that I could find) inaccurate and out-dated reflections of what the Whitehouse currently is, not necessarily what the Whitehouse actually offers. The Whitehouse's own website...

The first problem that Mrs High-Maintenance and I had with the Whitehouse was finding it. They apparently thought it would be more fun for visitors to guess where it is in the village. We did eventually find a small sign that said 'Whitehouse Deliveries' and worked our way around the building to locate what we assumed was the entrance. Perhaps...

A beautifully put-together place: decor with taste throughout and a lush country garden. The service was laid back which could come across as inattentive, and a bit cold. We had a poor welcome with the yappy sausage dog our most vocal host. But through our stay this thawed. Our room lacked storage so we resorted to surfaces. But it had...

We stayed here for 6 nights in room 4, which had an amazing walk-in shower, super king four poster bed with soft down pillows and duvet, and a roll top bath. You know you are staying somewhere good when the toiletries are Elemis! So the room was excellent. The team that run it are friendly, attentive and chilled out, which...

This is a very special place in the heart of Devon. I do not like using the word soulful to describe a place. People have souls, places don't. This is a rare exception to the rule. You know the place is run by people who love what they do from the moment you set foot in the White House. As...

We had a wonderful weekend at Whitehouse in Chillington, in November 2015. A beautifully furnished (shabby chic) room, a lovely bathroom....clearly a lot of thought has been put into the hotel. We were lucky to visit as their restaurant was re-opening after a makeover, and we weren't disappointed, with two fantastic evening meals and two relaxed breakfasts making our time...

What a pity - the little things spoiling what could be a goodt experience. The result is an extremely over priced hotel for what you get. The positives - warm people, a welcoming, chic décor and a lovely garden. The issues - the little touches missing which do not justify pricing which is in-line with some London boutique hotels or...
