Pristine Paradise is a newly opened dive resort in Una Una, Sulawesi. It is Dutch/Indonesian owned and run and is developed in close cooperation with the local community. We currently have eight cozy wooden bungalows close to the beach that all have running water, king-size bed, toilet, shower and terrace with hammock. Three meals a day and free coffee, tea, water included. The resort is located straight in front of the best dive sites of the Togean Islands. More than 20 sites are within a 10 minute ride by boat. Next to diving we offer an easy access to local life; join the weekly football and volleybal game in the village, hike the volcano or join an English class at the local school.

A very nice place in the Togian Islands with small Bungalows and a good Restaurant. Superb friendly owner (Umar) and his team. Food very tasty and more than enough for all. One of the best diving sites in my life and the BEST night dive (House Reef) I have ever had in my diving life. All sites are quite close to the resort. They orgernize a tour to the Volcano too. All in all, a fantastic family Resort with lots of Cats and two crazy young dogs!

This truly was pristine diving. The reefs were healthy and had huge sponges and acres of healthy coral. The coral at the Black Forest dive was so different from any other corals I’ve ever seen. Viz was often 100+ feet. The larger fish are still on the reefs. Saw so many large schools of large fish - Barracuda, sweet lips, snapper, giant trevally, blue fin trevally, etc. Many times saw huge bump head parrotfish and Napoleon wrasse, as well as literally swarms of smaller varieties of fish. Only the occasional turtle. Virtually no plastic in the water, unlike many other places in Indonesia. Although the current is generally mild, there were a couple of times it was stronger so that a reef hook would have been handy to be able to just relax and enjoy the show. Occasionally just in view of the dock a pod of several hundred dolphins would go by. Once from a return from a dive, jumped in the water near them. Although saw them underwater, they were too shy to let us get close. There was no camera bucket on the boats, but as almost all dive sites were just minutes away, that was not an issue. We had camera gear with us which the boat captain passed to us after water entry Not too many nudi’s here, although lots of tiny shrimp and crabs in the coral. Hard to concentrate on the small stuff when so many schools of fish around! Diving set up required you to be agile and healthy. Divers entered from shore into the boat, which generally took 4-5 divers, the guide and the boat driver. You could either walk on with your gear or they were very accommodating about carrying your gear on to the boat where you could put it on then. All exits were back roll, and to come back on boat all gear was removed first before climbing up the ladder. The boat captains were incredibly strong, and made our gear lift look like it weighed nothing at all! The accommodation is quaint and cozy as advertised. Such pristine diving means that there is not much development here. Separate little huts with not much water pressure and water only sun warmed. Internet and power is only for certain hours of the day. Communal eating table. Emile (the owner) tried as hard as he could to be accommodating and all staff are very pleasant Overall though, very worth the effort and time to get to UnaUna for the diving

I spent 14 weeks completing my EFR, PADI Rescue and Divemaster at Pristine with my partner Sarina. We were welcomed into the family straight away. The owners and all the staff are really lovely! They helped to make our long stay there a really special experience. The food never fails to be simple and delicious at all times. Local cuisine including rice and vegetables with fish, eggs, tofu or tempeh, and if you’re lucky some mash potato or chips thrown in occasionally. We mostly stayed in the standard rooms while we were there, which are more than adequate for what you need. When it was quiet the owners upgraded us to the deluxe beachfront bungalows which are really nice…think showers under the stars and waking up to the sun and waves. You have to go to the end of the jetty! You get a magical sunrise, sun in the day, incredible stars and the milky way in the evening. The diving is really special. Your average dive is 30 degrees, great visibility and little to no current. Its very, very fishy! You’ll have different schools of fish around you at most sites, especially the huge schools of barracuda down at Apollo, and a multitude of reef fish covering the corals. You get the typical Indonesian abundance of colourful critters if you know where to look. Big Napoleon Wrasse on almost every dive! To top it off, you have a chance to see Eagle rays, Turtles, Bumphead Parrotfish, large Tuna, and occasional Sharks. I cannot recommend coming here more. The simple and relaxed lifestyle Pristine creates gives you plenty of time to kick back in a hammock and find peace.

Pristine Paradise is a very nice and relaxed place. All the stuff is super friendly, the pier is great to hang out. The diving is good, very fishy. Especially impressive are the many schooling Barracudas at the Apollo Reef. But also the other divesites show a huge variety of healthy corals, sponges, fans and so on. We loved it, only our room close to the diveshop with compressor was a bit loud. That could be improved....

If you are looking for a beautiful island, one of the best diving spots you’ll probably ever see, super kind staff and owner, and good food (also for vegetarians and vegans), then don't look further! The island only counts a limited amount of places where you can stay and therefore remains and feels relatively untouched. There is a hike to a volcano, which is super awesome, and Pristine offers discover dives and training for certificates. I did my padi open water here and I really enjoyed it. The dive masters are super kind, helpfull and professional

We stayed in Pristine finally for 2 weeks and could have stayed much longer. It's a wonderfull atmosphere and place there ...very good people (owner, guests and locals!). Never been at a place like this! And we definitely come back as soon as possible. We did our open water course there and felt all the time safe and in good hands. The dive sites are beautiful and the amount of diffrent fishes just amazing. The accommondation is built up with love. Clean and cozy bungalows. Our personal favorites were the pool table and the jetty.

Diving standards: Safety is very high from western qualified dive masters. Every dive has a solid briefing & rules to be followed. Water clarity is consistent with visibility often >20m. Little to no current. Marine life is always in abundance with thousands of fish, occasional turtle, black tip sharks, nudie branks etc. Rental equipment needs attendance, in particular to fins & masks. Multiple females in my group did not have flippers small enough to fit & had to use oversized dive booties, therefore when there was current it was very difficult. I got an eye infection from the masks / water, however was able to be cleared fast with antibiotics. The DMs Ben & Sarina were a delight - their knowledge of dive sites and allowing guests to decide where to dive each day from their perceived interests was probably the greatest difference between here & other dive shops , Gary will be great when he is working full time as instructor. Dive prices are very reasonable. Reef safe sunscreen was available. Accommodation: the dorms lacked mirror, sink & mattress was poor. I changed rooms, reluctantly having to upgrade. Lots of guests mentioned rats, mosquitoes and other animals. If you upgrade to a standard or delux it was comfortable. No rooms had fans though, making a hot climate some nights difficult to sleep. Wifi is paid & expensive comparable to smaller resorts in Malenge for example (Malenge Innr, 10MB for 1000.00IDR & - Sanctum (next door) offers 50g free on arrival, there is new free wifi in town for locals. Food: Rice! Hope you love it. The meals were plentiful, often with fish or vegetables. Little to no fruit was provided other than watermelon for breakfast (rice, watermelon and sometimes cake or pancakes). Simple rule if you can live without it then bring it with you. There is a freezer that is turned on at night then off at day, questioning the freeze / defrost / refreeze of fish amongst guests. We all often went next door to Sanctum to buy snacks as there were none - after 3 dives we were all hungry from 12pm -7pm. The manager didn’t really seem to grab the hint. The association with Harry Homestay in Gorontalo displays a poster stating free transport to and from Wakai if purchasing 6 dive packs. As I purchased 2 and was unable to complete my last dive (12) I asked the manager to refund my transport (850,000 IDR, $90 AUD as I had purchased 2 X 6 dive packs but he refused, this was disappointing considering how much I had spent on diving. Getting to and from the island is explained in detail via email with the manager and I am thankful for that. I chose Gorontalo, night ferry then speedboat to Wakai, the boat prices are expensive so if the business is refusing to pay free travel as advertised maybe they should remove all the advertisements. Volcano: 40 min easy walk to the centre with active steam, after 25 min on motorbike. Worth a visit. All staff friendly however there appeared to be an obvious tension in staff moral.

Response from Emiel W, Manager at Pristine Paradise Una Una Dive Resort
Responded 5 Dec 2019
Hi Lisa, Thanks for your extensive and useful feedback. We already started working on it. Dorms will be completely refurbished, dive gear (masks/fins) will be added after an intensive season that depleted our stock a bit. We apologize for the lack of snacks, I realize the next supplies boat that stocked us up again arrived just after your stay. Pringles, Oreos and chocolates in abundance again :) In regard of the refund request I would like to clarify that we did fully refund the booked dive that you could not do (while keeping the financial discount that comes with the full package). The later requested refund for transport is indeed declined. As discussed we moved from offering the 'transport' to a financial discount as reward that comes with our diving packages. Given the financial discount was provided, we could not offer the transport as well. I do realize it is confusing and not helping that the old advertisements are still around, apologies for that. We have requested the homestay to remove the old poster. We hope to be able to welcome you again in the future, and provide you an even better experience! kind regards,

Pristine is a fantastic place if you enjoy diving while staying at a very good and relaxed resort. The bungalows are clean, comfortable and have a nice sea-view. The vibe is cool (also depends on the other guests of course) and the food is good (vegetarian/fish/chicken). Every day we enjoyed playing (board)games during lunch / after dinner with other guests and here is even a pool table! In my opinion this is the best diving spot of the togean - even better than Bunaken! During our stay there were two super friendly Dutch dive instructors Dani & Erik. We really enjoyed diving with them! The owners and the staff are super friendly and the ladies from the kitchen really understand how to bake cookies or cake...! Imagine that you had a spectacular dive and arrive back on shore feeling hungry and then find out that they baked a coconut-choclate cake, well.. this really felt like paradise!
