Very pleasant place to stay. Saikal is incredibly kind and helpful, and an excellent cook! She speaks excellent English. We were shown an immense amount of hospitality and kindness. Thank you Saikal, you made our stay very enjoyable!
Rahat and his wife hosted us so well, their hospitality cannot be faulted. The room was clean and warm with good quality en suite. The village is full of friendly locals all willing to say hello and give you a wave when you walk past. We enjoyed the walks in the local area and the delicious food that our hosts served us along with hot drinks and snacks. We hope we get chance to come back in the future! Would highly recommend.
We chose this guesthouse after reading their leaflet promising vegetarian-friendly catering. We have travelled for a month in Kyrgystan and this is the only place we have found where the food is really good, cooked by Rahat's lovely wife Janyl and their hardworking daughter. The guesthouse itself is an absolute joy for townies looking for a rural idyll with mod cons. We had a very small bedroom, but with modern bathroom with hot water. The bungalow looked out onto a working farmyard. Janyl kept us plentifully supplied with cream and yoghurt from their own cows milk. Many tourists choose to stay in Jyrgalan before setting out on treks. We were less ambitious. We simply walked each day to a different hillside carpeted in wildflowers and there we read or played our musical instruments in the sort of surroundings you might imagine you were in heaven, returning each evening for more delicious food.…
My friend and I returned to Jyrgalan for another two days of backcountry skiing on an extended trip in Kyrgyzstan (February, 2018). We found the Rahat guesthouse by chance and could not have been more pleased. Clean rooms and bathrooms, a good space-heater with coat-rack in the room for drying gear, and fairly comfortable beds. The food was great! Our hostess made everything from scratch (apricot jam was fantastic). Plenty of hot drinks and snacks. As for sking, you can exit the rear of the property and be entering the backcountry. The more popular part of the valley is a ~15 minute walk on the road. The less popular valley (skier's left) has almost immediate access. There is a store 3 blocks down the road from her to buy additional food or beer. I want to make a special note about our hostess. The scheduled bus (marshrutka) did not arrive on our exit day. Our hostess (who had already escorted us to the bus stop) called several people and waited over an hour to make sure we had a taxi home. Also, there is a Jyrgalan.com website with more information on the village and guesthouses.…
