Arrived in time for a seven course dinner overlooking a moonlit lake. The introductory chat by visionary chef Richard Poynton was diverting as ever, although his mouthwatering descriptions of the forthcoming meal did nothing to stop our stomachs from grumbling impatiently. This is the sort of place you should only visit for a couple of nights or you may need...

Loverly place, not too hot, in the mountains, more like Scotland but for the apes running off... lots of birds... Individual rooms in old stable blocks... very cosy... Great reception... Fantastic food... Good wine cellar... I definitely recommend the place...

The location is excellent, close to many good walks and interesting places. The staff are excellent and cannot be faulted. The rooms are quirky and variously styled; but they are old fashioned, dated and would not be to everyone's taste or indeed to 5* standards but we found them charming. The food is overwhelming !! Breakfast is only average cooked and...

We stayed at Cleopatra's for three nights and frankly it was one too many. The rituals of the 15 min blackboard menu monologue and the wine cellar tour pall a little at second repeat. Food style reminded me of France pre- nouvelle cuisine and over rich for our taste. Richard Poynton is widely advertised as the chef here and no...

Cleopatra has a deserved reputation for incredible food and puts a lot of creativity and genius into their breakfast and dinner . The rooms are also very comfortable and the place is set around a beautiful lake with great views of the hills. My one reservation was that I found the hiking itself, whilst pretty, not necessarily that spectacular. I...

We recently spent 2 nights at the Cleopatra. Unfortunately the weather was not kind to us but we could not have been in a better place. The scenery is stunning, even in bad weather. The farmhouse is homely and comfortable and the staff are so attentive it is a fabulous place to spend time. And as for the food, simply...

The road from Rosetta seemed never ending and we hoped it would lead to our expected destination. Eventually Cleopatra appeared after about 5km rough track and we were immediately welcomed and shown to our room, one of eleven all with different themes. Ours was Scandinavina and had everything we could want including electric blankets and a log fire. Dinner was...

Cleopatra Mountain Farmhouse was in a lovely quiet location along a graded road towards the end. It was excellent with cottage suites all individually decorated. A log fire was lit in our room on chilly evenings. The food was really delicious .The 6 course set menu was discussed in detail before dinner. Two or three nights would be a perfect...

Cleopatra Mountain Farmhouse is situated beautifully. It is quite accessible (only 5 km of dirt road) but it is very remote. It is tranquil and the gardens are stunning and very well taken care of. The roses just look fantastic. It is quite desolate but this is part of the charm. The farmhouse has 11 rooms (I think a 12th...
