The room is very small and stinky. We booked the room for 4 people but they only gave us a very tiny room. Everything here are very outdated and the staff are not friendly. We would’ve left right away but couldn’t get the refund. Not a great experience. I will never return to this place again and will NOT recommend to Anyone.
The room was old and outdated. The bathroom was old and moldy. The sink leaks making the bathroom floor perpetually wet. So far it is the worst hotel we’ve been to in Taiwan. It was raining the whole day, we missed the sunrise, and finally opted to walked the trail in the rain, else the trip would be pointless. At least the staff was very friendly and they provide a van to pick up/send to the bus terrminal.
Don’t be deceived by the pictures you see on hotel booking websites. They’re 95% deceitful. The rooms all smell old and wet. Windows cannot be opened. There are sponges stuck on our windows in the shower. There is NO ventilation in the room. The room is dirty. We’re not allowed to flush toilet paper down the toilets otherwise we’ll be fined if it clogs. We only have ONE plugpoint in our room. There is no way to boil your own water too, they provide a kettle with no electrical connection. There is a hot water dispenser outside very much like those you see in a mall unsure of hygiene status. The accommodation does not have any lifts, but if you’re lucky there might be someone who will help you with your luggage. It is an immensely small room, the hot water facilities are only between 530 pm and 11am. There is only a 1.5 feet walk way between the bed and the wall in which there is a chair and table placed there. The staff do not speak English and is difficult to communicate. Bed bugs/insects in the rooms. All in all, a horrendous experience. I’ve travelled far and wide and have never had such a bad experience. We’ve slept in trains, and backpackers and still found this the worst place to stay, ever. The floor and the beds are filthy. Please DO NOT book this accommodation. It’s the worst. I’m still fairly shocked at the accommodation that we booked which was about AUD$190. …
Consistent with other hotels in Alishan, the room rate is overpriced. The room is quite small, no soundproof and quite noisy as people talk outside the room can be heard from my room. The check out time is 11am, as this is not a normal check out time, on the last day I forget the check out is 11am. Once checked out around 11.15, I got a penalty by the front office by NTD 2,000 if I am not mistaken. The good thing is there is a electric blanket on bed which helps to warm the bed in the cold weather.
We were at Alishan for 2 nights, hoping we could at least catch the sunrise. The first morning, however was raining. Nevertheless, the hotel staff was friendly enough to accomadate all our questions and directed us to the recommended spots. It was a great and warm first day despite not being able to see the sunrise. As a background - sunrise can be self guided / arranged by the hotel. We took the latter. On the second morning, our driver did not turn up and we completely missed the sunrise. It was disappointing. When questioned when the front counter opened, the staff did not know the driver did not turn up. As a form of service recovery, the hotel offered some snacks and a free ride down the mountain. While it seemed great, it was uneventful as we were waiting for the sunrise for 2 days. To make matter worse, it was a sunny day. We felt that the coordination could be better managed by the hotel. While the driver could be outsourced, there should still be some control in place, else, someone other parties will miss the sunrise. Other than this experience, the room is small and cramped. If it is just a resting place, I think it is acceptable for the price and location.…
It’s the second time to Alishan with family with 2 kids. Think I made a right choice as the hotel was clean enough and quite comfortable. There’s only 2 bad points. Toilet was abit too small as there’s not enough space to shower. Our room was located at 5 floor, there’s no lift so we had to climb up and down many times which can be a pretty good exercise. Now the good points. The staff was very helpful and also explains timing of sunrise and where to take a train etc. When checking in, some of the staff even help us to carry our luggage up to the room. Would definitely be my choice of stay next time when we come Alishan.
This is a very run down hotel in a fantastic location. Pro ~ 20 min driver from Alishan peak (where you can see sunrise) ~ locates near many food places (although u need to walk up a lot flight of stairs) - Staff quite nice - Quite clean Cons - Super rundown hotel (old beds, blankets, toilet in bad shape) - No facilities - Pest crawling around - Not value for $$ (paying ~ US$80-100 but no other options if you are staying in Alishan) - Toilet flushing is poor If this is in town, I would give it 0 star but in Alishan, I think it deserve a 3 star if I compare among their peers
This hotel is clean and cold because we’re at 7000 ft. Plenty of bedding to keep you warm. Breakfast vouchers are a bonus. I will say we stayed at other hotels here in the park and this on has the only friendly front desk staff
Well-designed resort complex in the mountains; management certainly plays by the rules time-wise; neat and well-maintained; cosy spot with free wi-fi; easy walking distance to restaurants, bush walking and post office
There are many hotels in Alishan national forest area. This hotel is modest in price and conveniently located by the train station. The price includes a breakfast voucher. Be sure to buy your train tickets for the sunrise once you check in. The cold mountain weather that is best that you turn electric blanket on at night since there is no heat in the room. There are plenty of places to eat. Honest Charles and honest tea is a must visit tea and coffee tasting. This hidden gems of the local farmer are worth your visit.
