Manito's House is a rural rustic lodging located at Punta Cuchillo, Paquera. We are immersed in a protected area, wooded, full of quiet for people that likes to relax. We are "ticos" making the best that we can do to introduce you at an exclusive corner of Peninsula de Nicoya, in front of Jesucita and Cedros Island. We have a beach to 100 meters from the lodge (5 minutes walking) with calm and clear water, surrounded by mountains and almost exclusive used by our guest. Our restaurant is based in the traditional typical Costa Rican food, basically taking advantage over the fresh marine product offered by the fishers of the area.

Carolina and Diego are the most gracious hosts. We stayed here while doing the bioluminescence tours at Bahia Rica just down the road. The rooms are very basic but comfortable and clean, ours had a nice deck to sit out on and drink our coffee while viewing the gardens and listening to the nearby wildlife. There was also a fridge and coffee maker. We had a bit of time between our SUP and bioluminescence tours, so took advantage of the fact that Diego is a great cook. He whipped us up a lovely meal and accommodated the vegetarian within this couple. Our breakfast the next morning was huge and scrumptious and our coffee cup had no bottom. I have no hesitation recommending a stay here!

After our bio luminescent kayak tour we came here to eat dinner. Ate soup, fish, rice, veggies, and juice. All home cooked and amazing. Listened to some doors and zeppelin while we relaxed after kayaking. Really cool.

Carolina and Diego are soooooo welcoming!! You must be aware there is no ac, so it can be warm. Diego's food is Excellent and Carolina's intel on the area super helpful. It also helps to be so close to the biuluminescent bay, brief walking distance.

Diego and his family have granted me with a very warm and humbling welcome. Every time he sees you, he greets you with a warm “hello friend” and a heart felt hand shake. The family doesn’t have much but whatever they have, they are beyond happy to share and give to you with both hands. The rooms are very nice and tidy, common common area is very friendly. I certainly recommend a stay here!

I went with 2 other friends to eat at the restaurant while we waited for our bioluminesence kayaking tour. The food was home made and amazing! I feel in love with the cooking. I have ate at different restaurants in Costa Rica, but nothing compared to here. His hone made drink was also very good and tasty. When the food tastes this great is because it was made from love. I asked him if i Can get his recepie to make it at home. He was glad to give it to me. This is a place that i will always talk about. Highly recommend it!!!

We ate at Manito's two times for dinner and one time for lunch while we stayed at neighbouring Bahia Rica lodge. They welcome you to their leisure area where the kitchen is adjacent. When dinner was ready we were welcomed to serve ourselves and got well tasting food prepared by Diego and the abuela of the house. It was so nice! For drinks we got a huge pitcher of freshly made juice(different kind each time). My wife asked how they made the tortillas, and the next time we went for dinner she got to join Diego in the kitchen and he showed her how to make the dough and cook them! We got to talk with the whole family and they were so friendly and such a great family! Probably the greatest meal and experience we had as part of our honeymoon!

This is real Costa Rica warmth and culture. We stayed with this lovely family who, welcomed us like we were family. They invited us to make their outdoor kitchen and living room our own. It's right next door to the Bahia Rica bioluminescence kayak tour. We walked over for sunset, had a wonderful tour, and came back. Diego was waiting for us. While we showered and changed, Diego personally cooked us an amazing meal. I went back to the kitchen for thirds! That's how good it was! How rare and humbling for strangers to treat you with such kindness and care. We met the parents and the owner's four year old son. It was like being invited into their home. After a good night's sleep, Diego cooked us breakfast and we sat and talked. We have traveled all over the world. This ranks as one of the top 10 experiences of our lives and one we will never forget. Thank you to this wonderfully warm and caring family.

We had the best welcome from Manito and his family. This place is clean, comfortable, has a lovely plunge pool and serves plentiful breakfasts and dinners. It's close to the ferry and very convenient for the bioluminescent tour at Bahia Rica (also highly recommended). I just wish that we had been able to stay for longer to explore the area more. Thanks Manito and all your family (especially Maite for helping with arrangements).

The family have a 'finca' (property or farm) a 10 minute drive from the Paquera ferry terminal. There are 2 cabines, each with 2 double rooms nicely decorated with paintings from Diego, who is a professional graphic designer and a fantastic cook. He runs the business together with his family (brother, brother's wife, his parents). The cabins are positioned among tropical fruit trees and other plants. Just across the gravel road you access real tropical jungle. We loved the mysterious sounds of the forest, you are really surrounded by nature here, the howler monkeys just go on day and night. Diego prepared fantastic meals! Forget restaurants and trashy dry gallo-pinto, Diego's got the stuff! Every meal something different for 3 days, everything freshy made infront of us in an open kitchen. Diego and his father are very knowledgeable about Costarican history, lifestyle, culture and of course wildlife. We had long conversations with them every evening at the dinner table. (The family dosn't speak English but we speak Spanish). 3 minutes from the premises there's a stream coming from the hills where you can bath in the cool pools and listen to the jungle. What more do you want? (There is also a small pool next to the cabins under construction but I suppose I'd still prefer my pool at the jungle stream.) There are also 2 hikes up the hills, one with information boards about the flora. We saw dozens of colourful butterflies. For us this was the best experience on our 3 week travel in Costa Rica & Nicaragua. Highly recommended for people who love the sounds of nature and genuine hospitality of a family.
