We booked the room with a private bathroom for our last night stay in Taipei as my girlfriend had to be at the airport pretty early the next day and we didn't want to rush. Took the MRT from town and upon arrival to the airport we took a cab to the hotel (8mins away) and around 180TWD+- Apparently they had two separate buildings and ours was at the other end, we were asked to wait and a car came to pick us up by the name of Jerry. Upon quick chatting, jerry is one of the owners of the business and was very fluent in english. It was a quick check in, room was pretty big being what a backpackers hostel is, and very clean. Downside for the room is only the floors being very cold (the tiles did not help), no universal plug ins, there is no towels to shower (instead they give you a face towel and thats it) and the toilet seems to be pretty old. On a positive note, the water pressure is extremely strong, hot water is solid and they give you the allowance to use bicycles from the property to venture around and about what is relatively a small town area, theres convenience stores, local restaurants and a big supermarket too... Jerry was attentive and asked if we wanted to arrange for a cab early tomorrow morning in which we said yes, cab came on time to pick us up but we were slightly shocked that the driver asked us 250TWD for what is relatively a very short trip..... (all in black taxis so i assume this was on private arrangement). Yes, from the looks of it, it can be slightly pricey but this arrangement saves so much time and hassle if one has early flights.…
I got the private room without bathroom. This room had a great view of the runway 23L of the airport and it was a treat for me to watch planes taking off in the morning. Being at this property also means you get to hear planes early in the morning and up to 12 am. The shared bathroom had small towels and toothbrush. There is a common area with a fridge and water dispenser. There is no oven or laundry. The owner picked me up for free from the airport and offered a free ride to the MRT station after 9.30 am. It wasn't necessary as there are frequent buses (bus 1841) to Taipei (~50 mins journey) that stop near the hostel. There is a bus GR that leaves from Kengkou MRT and it seems that departures of bus GR are timed to coincide with the arrival of the MRT. There are food outlets down the road but you need Chinese/hokkien speaking ability most of the time. There is a smelly beancurd shop! It gave me a great experience of local life and the people are very friendly. There are stores open for breakfast and stores open after dinner. Or else you can get food at two convenience stores. The first Taoyuan bus to the airport, 5059 does not arrive early enough for me to catch my 7.30 am flight. Thus, early morning airport shuttle can be arranged by the owner for TWD 250, you get a bell in the room and when it rings, you go to the gate. In my case there was some confusion and the bell didn't ring, but I went to the gate anyway and found them waiting there for me.…
I got bumped off from my flight and did a last minute research with some affordable place to stay near the airport. I tried my luck at backpacker's hostel (without any booking at all) and it was the best decision ever. Location is very near the airport and the staff are super accommodating and nice! They will do the extra mile just to help you with everything. I was super stressed with all the hassle that happened to me in the airport but they showed nothing but compassion towards me. I'm so lucky! They picked me up and welcomed me! I got the private room and it was very clean and spacious! The wifi connection is really good too. Toiletries are available, hair dryer and fridge. Truly worth your money! I super recommend this hostel! Thank you so much backpacker's hostel for taking care of me and my son! I didn't check out yet but I'm already writing this review. Super satisfied guest here!…
The hostel is a good place to spend a layover. The rooms are comfy and clean. Plus, there are snacks! I used the shuttle service offered by the hostel to and from the airport, and it was quick and well organized. Bring $ as they don't accept card.
Was exactly what we need after our flight from Bali. Comfortable bed, room clean, dental kit, shampoo, shower gel and even a lovely welcome teddy bear 😌 got scared by a big plane while falling asleep but I slept very well! We had a taxi very early in the Morning and I adored the way all was prepared so we knew the taxi was here. A bell was left in our room so the taxi driver would ring and we were aware he was at the door. Just left a reusable bottle that I am still waiting for a reply as I really want it back but I guess not having and answer for 2days my bottle will stay in Taipei :(
