If you're transiting through Taipei, definitely consider this option. The rooms are comfortable, clean, and the staff are pretty much all fluent in English. Plus it's so easy to get to and from TPE airport. While it's not directly connected to the airport, it's one MTR stop away or a 5 minute taxi ride, or you can catch their complimentary shuttle which runs every 30 minutes. The breakfast spread was plentiful with many options to choose from. The only thing I think they could improve on for foreigners is their shower which is not a typical "western" shower with a showerhead - it's one of those handheld nozzles which you have to carefully choreography around your body without spraying the entire bathroom.
Bad first impression. We had a day room here on a long China Airlines connection, with an inbound flight with scheduled arrival time of 06.35. When we got to thw hotel at 7.35, they refused to give us a room - we had to wait until exactly 8am, as that was the time that China Airlines had reserved the room, not a minute before. Not because the room was not ready, but simply because.. hell, that's just a 0 for customer service.
This was our third stay in this hotel. Staff are very friendly and treat guests very well. After I had a medical procedure, lounge staff prepared a fish soup to heal my wounds. Housekeeping staff took a very good care of our room and did everything possible to satisfy our needs. It is one metro stop from the airport terminals and the downtown is just 40 minutes away by metro. We will definitely come back again.
I'll start off by saying it's an expensive hotel but the location is great as it's the closest hotel to the airport (still a 10 minute shuttle or 2 minute paid train ride away). That being said it's not a 5 star hotel by any stretch. We took the shuttle bus from the airport to hotel which was convenient and free. Upon arrival at 11am there was 2 people working the check in desk and whilst one was busy (serving another customer) the other was just filing away paper (surely this can be done later instead of leaving people waiting). After a 5 minute wait that same person had finally finished tidying the desk and was now ready to check us in which much to my surprise the room was ready. Rooms were fine but needed a few maintenance things fixed (lose taps, old carpet etc) but…
The room is bigger than the one we had in Taipei. Very close to airport which I can see aeroplane from time to time passing by. The hotel got free transfer service to the airport. During check in, please inform the officer there that you would like to follow use that service and they will do their best to ensure customers arrived for their flight. There are 3 restaurants in the hotel and their food it so good. Trust me, do save some $$ for that restaurant.
