Solo traveller stayed for 1 night in mid-March 2019. I booked this hotel thinking it is a heritage building but after check-in, found out that all buildings were built in the mid-1980s for their heritage look. The hotel location isolated and is about 15 minutes' walk to Kenting main road. The hotel had a restaurant but closed at 7.00pm. Unless you want early dinner, so you have to walk to Kenting main road for dinner and to buy other stuff, lucky for me the rain stopped when I went out for dinner, otherwise you would be wet. The room is bigger than other hotels in Taipei and Kaohsiung. I enjoyed watching the sun set outside my room. You can also take a coastal walk within the hotel area. Non hotel guests must pay for admission. Breakfast poor. I felt to stay 1 night for an experience is more than enough.

The first thing that strikes you when you enter the Kenting Youth Activity Hostel is its classical Minnan style design. Characterized by the swallowtail roofs with their upward-curving ridges. Entranceways open into courtyards with rooms along the edges. The rooms are large and comfortable. Do not expect five-star amenities. Though what is provided is more than sufficient. The hostel is within the Kenting National Park and is next to the Kenting Frog Rock coastal park. The hostel is within walking distance of the Kenting Express Line bus stop and Kenting Road, with its shops and restaurants. A perfect place for a quiet, sceneic getaway.

for people from modern city, having someone to bring back historical buildings, how they are built, the significance of each architecture, building compound symbolization etc is very enriching. How the ancient people already gained so much knowledge, knowhow, how to build a house, etc is something beyond my comprehension. it was a very exciting and knowledge trip.

This center was designed as an village with several Si He Yuan residential housing of traditional South Fujian Province architecture. It was well-managed and has been newly renovated recently to accommodate more and more tourists with all sorts of ages and interests. The best part of this center is its excellent location: just on the end of Kenting street and within the area of Frog Stone Beach Promenade. Therefore, we can easily enjoy the local delicacy and nature beauty without worrying traffic jam or parking. The beach behind is full of shells and the view is unbeatable.

This hotel has an unbeatable location and great architecture! As you can see from the photos, it is constructed as a traditional courtyard house village, looking very authentic. It is located near the bus stop of the Kenting Express Line (about 5 minute walk) and near the Kenting main street (for street food at night). We had a refurbished room, which was quite adequate with two double beds, a modern bathroom, AC. All the rooms are located in different courtyards, named after families that emigrated from China. We felt like we were in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragons. There is a walking path along the sea, with a private beach (not for swimming, but with a beautiful view, especially at sunset). While this is not a luxurious hotel, we would not stay anywhere else in Kenting. The entire grounds of the hotel was beautiful.

The centre is situated on a peninsula in the south of Taiwan. It's a great location and the centre is housed in extensive grounds. There is a lovely trail along the coast with interesting rock formations formed by the erosion of old lava flows. The buildings are also interesting and in good condition built in the layout of a traditional Fujian village. The rooms have ensuite bathrooms, small fridges and free wifi. Our rooms were very clean and well kept and the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. A delicious buffet breakfast was included. Just a short walk to local beaches and the colourful and fascinating street life of Kenting, especially at night. It was inexpensive to stay there but I believe often difficult to find a room. It caters mainly for student groups and Taiwanese families but if you are lucky to find rooms we would highly recommend it.

If you are interested in traditional taiwanese culture, this hostel is strongly recommended. The buildings are well preserved, and not overdecorated. Nice location, right on the bustling Kenting street. Rooms are clean and basic. There's a trail along the beach, where you can saw nice sunset. Delicious traditional breakfast is included. Rooms are popular on weekends, it's better to reserved online.

We took the Kenting Express bus from Kaohsiung (Zuoying) to the last stop. From there we needed to walk about approx. 600m to reach the front desk. It was quite an experience having to push/pull our luggage through the road surface for 600m. In terms of location, near the night market, restaurants and shops. "Frog rock" was just behind the premises, breath taking sea view as you walk the "Frog Rock" path (30mins). The rooms are clean, wifi is free, a thermos flask and 2 cups are provided. Cold, warm or hot water can be collected from a central water dispenser just outside the room area. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast is free, and they served vegetarian for the 2 days we stayed there. Overall a really great place to stay, I would go back again the next time I visit Kenting.

I've stayed here a few times over the years and always returned, it's not as comfortable as a modern hotel, as the facilities are a little old and outdated, but it's worth it for the ambiance and location. The hostel is located on its own private peninsular next to 'frog rock' and right next to Kenting beach. The rooms are basic, but located in traditional style courtyard-style Chinese buildings, very popular with school parties and large groups of budget travellers. There is wireless internet, not always working, but fine in the reception area. The rooms have a fridge, air conditioning and ensuite bathrooms. The main reason to stay here is the experience of living in a Chinese-style village, and to have the benefits of a private peninsular with its own beach. Highly recommend if you are lucky enough to be able to book a room here. The hostel restricts people to under 35 years, but they say you can stay there if you are a teacher. The prices are a fraction of other nearby hotels. Highly recommend this place !

We stayed here a few years ago, and came back to Kenting and stayed here again. We really fell in love with the architecture and ambience here, and on this trip, there were a few improvements that we noticed. We stayed in the newer section this time, and the room was nice and clean-smelling. For non-smokers, this is very important, especially in Asia! It didn't smell like old cigarette smoke or that scented disinfectant stuff that they use to try to cover up the cigarette smell. The 4-person room was pretty spartan, but clean. Two full-sized beds, a flat-screen TV, a mini-fridge, and a small stool to sit on. The bathroom had a shower stall with good water pressure (although the hot water tended to cool off and get ultra-hot again, for no apparent reason). The breakfast buffet was good, but they're only open for 2 hours from 7 to 9, and tended to have much more Chinese/Taiwanese fare than Western fare (porridge, steamed mantou, radish cake, 2 stir-fried veggie dishes, egg dish, meat dish, shrimp fried rice, white toast, iceberg lettuce, alfalfa sprouts, jam, butter, and one fruit selection, plus coffee and soy milk). It does the trick, though, and saves you from having to spend too much on lunch if you fill up on breakfast. On our last stay, I ate lunch there, too, and the variety and taste of the dishes were great. We didn't have time to eat lunch there on this stay. They have coin-op laundry (NT$50 per load) and sell packs of powdered detergent at their little store. They say one pack is enough for a load, but I would use two packs. We used one pack and it really didn't seem like enough for a full load. Also the dryer seemed to need to be run twice (NT$50 each time) to get a full load dry, but our first run might have been interrupted by some random uncouth person opening the door and forgetting to push the button to activate it after they closed it again, because after the second run, our stuff was cooked bone dry on the permanent press setting. They also have bike rentals. The walk to Frog Rock is nice and shady, and doable even with little kids. The view of the ocean at the rock is really nice. On the way, we saw lots of butterflies, lizards or newts, and a huge grasshopper. If you go there when it's not fully booked, it's really quiet in the evenings and you can sit outside your room in the common area and watch the geckos. There are also some feral kitties that hunt the geckos, but they don't like people. Mostly they just looked at us from afar and left us be. We can't imagine staying anywhere else in Kenting.
