This is a nice comfortable hotel. Friendly staff. Room is average, nothing special. The best amenities were the steam room, dry sauna and soaking tub. Although we did not try their buffet breakfast, seems menu included both Chinese and western cuisine. Location is a bit further out from downtown area, it's about a 20 min brisk walk. I'd recommend taking a taxi.

Tip: The hotel has a list of recommended drivers you can hire for the day to see Taroko National Park, price point may be a bit more than drivers soliciting at the train station, however, the hotel's list has been vetted and they can assist if any issues arise with the driver.

Lakeshore Hotel is a big nice hotel in Hualien. We had a nice room overlooking the sea. The room was well equipped, confortable and very clean.

The breakfast was plentiful but as the breakfast room was huge depending on the time it could be replay crowded. But overall the experience was good.

The only real annoyance was the incredibly slow elevators.

At the end, we had a good stay at Lakeshore Hotel.

Stayed for 2 nights in the hotel. Comfortable place, manned by professional, friendly and attentive staff.

Booked 2 half day tours with the concierge service, had to cancel one because my wife was a little under the weather. While we did not expect them to refund us the money, the hotel went out of their way to have our money refunded back to us when we checked out. That is very nice of them.

The gym on the 8th floor has a couple of stationary bikes and a couple of treadmills. In the same small room, are a few massage chairs. So I got do some jogging one morning, while other hotel guests (mostly elderly and their infants) use the massage chairs behind me, staring outside of the window, ironically, at the nearby running track/ stadium. It was an interesting experience.

Would recommend the hotel to anybody in a heartbeat.

Stayed for a night here. Hotel is very clean and the room was very spacious. It has an interesting bathroom arrangement with the bath/shower by the window looking over the ocean.

Steam room and sauna were excellent.

Breakfast was buffet-style with a mix of western and Taiwanese-style cuisine. Decent enough. The hotel is a bit of a ways from the train station and night market so you'll need to taxi, although the staff are very good at arranging these for you.

hmmmm....how should I start?

1) walls are thin you can hear next door, upstairs, down stairs noise (walking, running...)

2) you can hear shower, water running, dripping sound from other roooms.....yes even at midnight.

Tonight is the 1st of my 4 day vacations, and I am lost in words.

Disappointment from an ocean view room

入住手續速度非常慢. 問一些基本的附加用餐資訊也完全不能回答. 下雨天,等待房間時間也沒有任何設施可以使用. Not worthwhile for the price. Also the name is confusing with the other location (Lakeshore Hualian Tarogo) No one offers to assist when standing in line and we are almost one hour from the official check in time (3pm)

Even though my stay here was just for a night, I feel that it's a very nice hotel. The rooms are great, clean, comfortable and the staffs are friendly. They have a very good breakfast with plenty of choices. The surrounding area is very peaceful and calm especially during the morning. There are convenient stores within walking distance should you need to get anything.

Lakeshore is a beautiful new hotel and I don't understand its low star rating except for the fact of course that it is out of town. It is a 10 minute taxi ride from the HRA train station and definitely not walkable in the humidity to save the 140 -160 NTD$ fare to the train station. There is an hourly on the half hour shuttle service from the hotel to the train station, but book in advance if you know you need it, as it is a mini van with 7 seats. However, when we arrived at the train station, there were more than could fit in the minibus and the hotel had arranged for a taxi (free of course).

Lobby - cool marble floors and big comfortable sofas and working area with printers and tables and chairs. 3 lifts and pretty fish decorations on the wall so you always know which is the ground floor from the lift/elevator.

Reception staff - fabulous, friendly, proficient.

Room - superior double - 40square metres and a proper 40 square metres. Very modern bathtub and rain shower cubicle which is separate from the toilet and either overlooks the water or the mountains. As is the current modern style/trend, the bathroom part is separated only by glass from the bedroom area, so yes, this would be unsuitable for non couple or families. However, you can of course draw the curtain accross! Separate toilet and funky triangular shaped hand basin with elegant stainless steel curving tap. It is on entry to the room, before the bedroom area. Leave shoes on the carpeted area and step up to the bedroom area which has plastic laminate flooring with a light coloured pine/wood effect. Great king size very comfortable bed with cotton linens and feather duvet. Bright orange chaise lounge in the corner. Working desk with lamp, bedside tables, mini fridge and kettle. Flatscreen TV, few international channels, like CNN, HBO, Star Movies etc. All very modern and new in style.

No safe, but you can leave everything out on display and nothing goes missing.

Cleanliness - ABSOLUTELY SUPERB. As another reviewer wrote, I have never seen such a clean bath tub and I ran my fingers all over it to check for 'skin powder' from previous occupants! The taps were always shiny and fingerprint free. No insects in the rooms or corridors and no funny smells from the drains. Must make a special mention to the cleaning standards of this hotel, it is far better than 5 stars I have experienced in hotels like the Hilton and Le Meridien. Even though on a main road, no noise at all, I was on the eighth floor so don't know about lower floors.

Breakfast - Idon't know what people are complaining about. There isn't any yoghurt or cheese or baked beans but who wants to eat what they eat at home all the time anyway????
No bland melon trio here! There is very tasty water melon, canteloupe, green guava, bananas, pineapple and grapefruit. A salad bar with lots of dressings - whole baby tomatoes, cucumbers, purple cabbage, iceberg lettuce, alfalfa, snow pea sprouts, sweetcorn, shredded carrot and this yummy local wild vegetable, a bit like water spinach with a great Japanese style dressing.
Hot food - congee and all the condiments, pork buns, pasta with a creamy sauce, meat/ham slices, sausages, potato wedges or hash browns, rice, mushrooms, scrambled egg etc. White bread for toasting, muffins and little other buns/breads with fillings inside them.

Drinks - milk, cold and hot soy milk, water, grapefruit, apple, orange juice, tea, coffees from a machine, so choose americano, latte, cappucino, espresso.

Spa and gym on the 8th floor. Daily usage per night's stay. Open until 10:00 p.m. Separate men's and women's area for full nudity. Has two pools, a steam room and sauna.

Games room in the basement! Play air hockey and a few arcade type games. They also have a pet room, didn't go there as I didn't have a pet!

In terms of restaurants there are some! You won't go hungry especially if you can walk. There is a fried chicken shop -take away only- across the road, two pasta restaurants, a great place called Milk and Honey or Honey Milk up the road (turn right as you come out of the hotel) and loads of family run street food stall and tea bars, juice shops. Turn left and walk 5 minutes and you have a curry place that is currently ranked 7th on TripAdvisor, so the person who complained about no restaurants was right in a sense compared to the city centre, but you definitely won't go hungry. If all else fails, there is always the in house Mola Mola western restaurant which I didn't try but looks good.

I would definitely stay here again as long as the great hygiene standards and friendly professional service is maintained. Like I said in the title, I reckon this is as good as any 5 star room I have stayed in! Well done Lakeshore!

My friend/guide and I were traveling down the coast of Taiwan. Our planned lodging for the Taroko area fell apart at the last minute so we decided to just go into Hualien and find a place that looked nice. This was late on a Saturday evening and we were tired after a long day. One of the first places we came to was the Lakeshore which looked pretty nice from the outside so we decided to give it a try. So, basically by dumb luck we found probably the nicest place I stayed in Taiwan. It is just a shame we didn't get to spend more time there.

I had a room on the 8th floor with a view of the ocean which I believe was probably in the best category of rooms in the house. King size bed. Hardwood floors. The configuration was a bit odd with the shower and bathtub at the window end of the room, and the toilet and vanity in a small room at the other end near the door. Everything looked and smelled brand new.

I agree that the breakfast buffet had a lot to offer and was pretty good quality. Ultimately it was just a quick overnight for us. We met some very friendly staff members as we were checking out who wanted to know what we were doing there basically. I think they mainly get Chinese bus tours.

There is a small free parking garage in the basement. They also offer shuttle rides from the train station and to Taroko.

The Lakeshore name is a mystery as well. Maybe it's part of a chain?

I would not hesitate for a second to stay in this hotel again.

We recently stayed in this hotel during our holiday in Dec.

Firstly the location is our of the city but the hotel has its own charm. As we are city living folk the whole idea is to get away from the city 😊, hence this hotel is ideal.

The hotel is about a few hundred meters from the coast and depending on the view of your room you can see the sea. We were short of time, otherwise it would have been great to have a stroll along the coast.

We arrived late evening and the check-in was smooth. As we had booked 5 rooms the staff were kind enough to upgrade 2 of our rooms to a sea-facing suite. The suite was huge and has a unique bathtub and shower area that is facing the sea and in a separate enclosure from the room. This is ideal as the shower area is warmer then the rest of the room.

To me the highlight of the hotel is the additional service provided to the guests.
- Besides the daily 2 bottles of free water provided in every room, there is a water dispenser on every floor. 👍 up for being environmentally friendly.
- There is a laundry room in the basement with washers and dryers that can be used for a fee
- There is a games room in the basement and each room is allotted free daily tokens to use

Breakfast was fine but could do with some change of variety daily so long staying guests do not get bored. It might not be practical to change the whole range of items, but some minor tweaks daily would be great.

Location wise we needed transport to get to the city and night markets. However there is a 7-eleven within walking distance from the hotel, I guess which is the case with almost every hotel in Taiwan 😊

Overall it was a pleasant stay and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Hualien.
