It is more like a Mingsu (not a villa to me) located above the mid level of Cingjing Mountain. The lady at the reception didn’t speak much though. Check-in was very swift. The entrance level is the restaurant that offered Yunnan cuisines. The rooms were located on level 2. Two levels only, served by a flight of stairs. We had to pull our luggage up the stairs, thankfully our driver as well as the staff from the Mingsu helped us. The rooms were dim, floors were timber-decked. Bathrooms were old-looking. Oh do be careful. Certain rooms have a step-up platform to the bed. This may not work for older people. So before you book, please specify clearly. Rooms have high ceilings though. Bathroom & room amenities were sufficient. During winter, we just opened our window slightly and the room was like 19 degrees! The bed had a heater! That was so helpful in the cold night! The walls were thin, we tried to be considerate & not to make much noise all the time. The hot water cooler is outside the rooms. We had our dinner here on our first night. It was delicious. We seek the help of the staff to order for us as we weren’t sure about their Yunnan cuisines. Most of the dishes were spicy but they could do without it. We were all satisfied! Good soups (tonic) & fresh vegetables that they planted at their garden. There is a 7-11 convenient store next to Sunshine Villa. It sells plenty of stuffs which we couldn’t find in other 7-11 anywhere in the rest of the places we went after this. Cars would stop here to get their necessities before moving off elsewhere. There is a tea shop, like a souvenir shop here. Their tea is tasteful, not those thick ones that land me sleepless for nights. I bought their sourcprunes to make prune tea. The teabags can be found in the rooms as well. The breakfast here was good. All healthy stuffs except their usual stew pork (minced) which goes very well with rice or porridge. My family & relatives had a good start of the day before we climbed He Huan Mountain! The view from the restaurant veranda was nice. The Mingsu has an organic garden/farm and the staff looked after the produce closely. My relatives didn’t mind going back for a stay come this winter:))It is more like a Mingsu (not a villa to me) located above the mid level of Cingjing Mountain. We were booked here via our tour company expecting a 4 star hotel experience. Definitely not the case. More of a 2 star experience. Though, they did have heated blankets and free wifi which was nice. The restaurant and breakfast buffet are what one would expect of a 2/3 star hotel in Taiwan - simple and focused on local food types. The beds were hard and the bathrooms very basic - almost feeling industrial like (bathroom had a stall for the shower and toilet). Our view was overlooking another building with no view of the mountains. The road noise could be heard throughout the night.
We stayed here for one night before doing a business excursion that entailed riding on a bicycle up the last 20 or so Km of the mountain. Our business associate did the booking for us. The room was basic, but clean. Room had double bed, a small desk with a basic vanity, toilet and tub with a shower head. There was a heating system as it apparently can get cold. No a.c .but balcony had a great view that I was able to birdwatch from. Screen door on slider for ventilation in summer. Dogs barking and roosters crowing down the mountain woke us at 5:30 am. Breakfast was mostly Taiwanese cuisine with very little western food to be found. Bottled water provided in room, and 7 Eleven on premises. You are paying for basic amenities with a view and not much to eat for western palates other than toast and hard boiled egg. …
Yes.. i fall in love with this minsu when in QingJing.. the room itself is very clean and cozy with a mountain view. Bedsheet is really clean and looked new. Bathroom also huge and clean. Staffs were friendly and helpful. Location is really good and strategic (near swiss farm). 7/11 is just beside the minsu which i found very convenient. Minsu also have shuttle bus to go to the green green grassland. Breakfast is okay too.. many variants and delicious. We love it esp with a lovely mountain view.. Bottom line.. we love staying there.. at days we can witness the breathtaking mountain view and at nights we can enjoy the beautiful starry night and the cold breeze.. Really cozy and homey minsu.. :)
First time to QingJing and was looking forward to the stay at the beautiful mountainous resort only to find the room given at the old building was a great disappointment and well below expectation though i have asked for a 4 star accommodation. The bathroom was not well maintained with spoilt and mouldy showerhead & cracked tiles. Room decor looked dated. The only comfort was that it has a restaurant that serves decent food and has great view of the mountains.
I stayed in a family room with a sitting area in the oldest building. The hotel is quite near the Cingjing Veterans Farm. The cafe area has a spectacular view of the area. We had afternoon tea there. They served different drinks and homemade cookies. Try to passion fruit juice. It’s very refreshing. I liked the cookies. The building itself is quite dated, especially the bathroom in the room. We had a half board plan. Both meals served local dishes which were just OK. You will not have a ‘WOW’.
We booked 2 rooms on the 2nd floor of the adjacent wing (来福居). The rooms were spacious (coupled with high ceilings and a veranda where you can sit) offered a great view and came with dinner, breakfast and a choice of admission tickets to Cingjing farm, little Switzerland etc or high tea (a drink + some cookies/scones). Meals taste average but are definitely more than sufficient even for big eaters. There is a 7-11 located at the main building for you to pick up any drinks or snacks. Hotel staff are friendly. Just remember to keep the insect netting shut. Wouldn't hesitate to go back.
Stayed One night with a family of 7 in Sunshine Vacation Villa on 07 Apri 2016, 來福居 section. During the booking process, Amber was very efficient in answering all my questions (in chinese) via email. She was also very helpful to book and liaise a THSR pickup taxi service for me when i requested for one. Travel time from Taichung THSR station to Minus is around 1hr 40mins. Bumpy mountain roads ahead. =) Upon checking in, Vivian was very friendly and gave us suggestions of how and what of Cingjing Farm and Little Swiss Garden. There are free Minus's shuttle bus service (one way) to Cingjing Farm 6 times daily. 3 timings in the morning 08:30, 09:00, 10:00 and 3 timings in the afternoon 13:30, 14:00, 15:00. The room is generally clean and spacious, View is magnificent. Downside were, the parquet flooring is very noisy while walking on it especially late at night where there is absolute silence. And the washroom has a unpleasant odour, i guess it came from the sewage pipes as it is located on a mountainous area. There is a cosy european style cafe, the friendly lady who was on shift work that night, made us wonderful teas and snacks (Free as it includes in my accommodation package where i chose it). Their main restaurant (a 7-11 convienence store was beside) was located at the main section 見晴园, 3 mins walk away from my section. Their traditional Yunna buffet breakfast and dinner were delicious and my family love it. 15 to 20mins walk to Little Swiss garden.…
Just came back from a 6-day trip in Taichung with husband and 2 year old son. We stayed 2 nights in Sunshine Villa, Cingjing and really enjoyed it. The staff are very friendly, polite and helpful. And I emailed them a few times beforehand and their response was really fast. We really like the room. It has a balcony and the view of our room was amazing. We stayed at the top floor. There are actually 3 villas next to each other under the same management. We stayed at the Sunshine Villa. It was quite cold when we went and the electric blanket was great for us. But my son was sleeping in the travel cot so poor boy was feeling quite cold. The staff was really nice to provide us with a small fan heater which didn't help much. But it was nice of them to do so. The price of the hotel is great. The package that we chose includes breakfast, dinner and pick 2 items from a list of 5 which we chose 2 free boat tickets at Sun Moon Lake and an afternoon tea at a nearby cafe which is also under same management. We really enjoyed the afternoon tea. A quaint and cosy cafe with a beautiful view of the mountains. We weren't impressed with the buffet breakfast. The food looks boring and doesn't look appetizing to us. Don't fret cos you can easily get some stuff from 7-11. But we enjoyed the simple Yunnan dishes served for dinner - serve to your table accordingly. The restaurant is a bit old but it has a nice view. The free wifi was quite good. Not too slow and always connected. In terms of location, just right in front of the villa, there's 7-11. It's about 15mins walk to the Small Swiss Garden. They have shuttle van at certain hours to drive you all the way up to Cingjing Farm which was what we did then we took our time walking down to the Small Swiss Garden. We were so tired by the time we reached Small Swiss Garden so we didn't walk back to the villa and the path from there to the villa is a narrow and windy road which is dangerous with my 2-year old. The villa gave us a number to call someone to pick us up (with a fee). Overall, this is a great villa to stay :)…
Nice minsu with picturesque view of the mountains/sunrise from our room balcony. Good location within 10 minutes walk to Little Swiss Garden and surrounding shops. Breakfast spread was good - we particularly enjoyed the braised pork with rice, and toasted bread with just the right texture. Do visit the quaint little gift shop (清境 zakka 鄕村手作)in the minsu compound that sells souvenirs - the owner 徐姐 and her adorable white maltese 'mei mei' will be sure to brighten your day with their joyful demeanour.is a very friendly and helpful lady who gave good advice on places to visit and eat nearby.
