We stayed in room 3103 with balcony garden, nice view of mountain & clouds look underneath u. Woke up at nite sit at balcony garden to view whole sky of crowded stars big & small & quite a few shooting stars on the nite we stayed, its amazing!
breakfast was good, dinning area is very relax & cosy. Best is the farm provides an hour free tour around the farm & you can bring back fresh vegetable, tea leave, lavenders home! This is an thumbs up plus point!
They even provide free shuttle services to some attractions. You can always enquire for its availability when u reach Ming Ging. The buffet breakfast was great! Given the pricing, Ming Ging is definitely worth the money. The best thing ever: from every corner , every room, I believe you could enjoy breath-taking scenery - the sun, the mountains and the greenery.
The only thing to take note is, if you are visiting in late autumn or winter, please rmb to prepare some snack as the sky falls dark at arnd 5pm (with some fog - depending on the weather) which may be inconvenient for you to travel outside. But you can enjoy the moon and stars from ur windows!
Their rooms looked exactly like their pictures on the website. Do check out which room you like and you can book directly with them to get your intended room. :) (FYI, I stayed at block A of the farm)
However, that's not the reason why we were so disappointed. When we first arrived the hotel and checked in at around noon, without having a second of rest, the staff immediately rushed us to get into their shuttle bus to the main town. We later knew that it was because they just didn't want to arrange another ride for us but to join the car with some other people. Later in the afternoon when we got back to the hotel and wanted to go out to the main town again for dinner (only buffet was provided at Mingging at that night), the staff refused to arrange the shuttle service for us as they only provided one return trip only. Despite no one told us about that before, we accepted and just asked for their help to book a taxi for us. Much to our surprise, they refused to do it! The thing we were most disappointed was the staff's attitude and services. We did not feel the Taiwanese warm and friendly hospitality as expected for a Minsu, or as a hotel its services were not acceptable at all. Everything was so commercial and they just wanted you to pay first for everything (even when we just enquired for information about the sunrise trip). The staff were always so impatient and rushed to talk to us or answer to our enquires.
Luckily we just stayed there for one night and I don't think I'll come back again.
Day 1:
Upon driving up the mountain, my wife and I could tell the view and landscape was going to be beautiful; however, upon arrival we experienced quite a few other surprises.
There are two receptionists at the front desk, yet only one is capable of checking-in guests (regardless of language barriers, if any. The second receptionist decided not to attend to us though while the other was clearly occupied helping another guest). On the bright side, the same individual capable of check-in for guests is (for the most part) tri-lingual, speaking Mandarin, Taiwanese and some English. But because there is only this single individual to serve customers, be prepared to wait in a queue. It does not matter how good service is or can be, it is still limited simply by this factor: waiting. That being said, the actual service upon check-in was subpar. The receptionist was shallow and rude in a colloquial manner. It could have been she did not realize it due to cultural differences, but in a service environment, even jokingly insulting guests is not acceptable. (My wife, who is fluent in Mandarin, was not pleased).
In the middle of the check-in process, I was also informed by the clerk who I had been in contact with for the entire booking (via phone & email) that I had been incorrectly invoiced and had to pay an additional 1,000 NTD. If you, as a reader of this review believe this is unfair, I can understand why as guests should not have to pay for a clerk's mistake. Personally, I do not believe this is unfair; I do believe, however, it was sloppy work. If a guest had not budgeted for emergency and was informed in-person upon arrival, this could have potentially lead to cash shortage issues for one's vacation.
After check-in, we moved into our next room located in Block C. The accommodation was spacious enough for two adults. The room was also nice as was the view though the landscape is somewhat spoiled by power lines (see attached photos). Other than these minor issues, accommodations in Block C were fine: there is wifi, cable, heat & A/C and a comfortable bed.
Day 2:
On the second day, my wife and I moved into Block B. The accommodation I booked via phone was for a room of three. The clerk had assured me via phone that both rooms I had booked (Block B and C) were enough for two adults. This was not the case for Block B.
Though there were two beds, a double and a single, both beds and the room were for children. May I remind you, I had booked a room for two adults. The arrangement of the room was quite bizarre with the TV being placed on the far side of the room.
There was s a small study desk in the middle of the room, but no chairs. (If you want to sit, take some chairs inside from the balcony). Moreover, this room was on the 4th floor and appeared to be what I believe was an attic reconstructed into a room. Because it is an attic, the insulation is poor so if you are staying during a cold season, the heater in the room will not do you much benefit. Another con of living in the attic: the ceilings conform the roof top's sharp angles, so if you at least 6 feet tall as I am, watch your head while walking in and out as well as in the room.
Food:
Each night we were there a buffet was being held. We ate there the first night, and the cost is 650NTD per person. In all honesty, it was more of a cafeteria style dinner than a buffet. The dinner hours were also short, mostly because there is limited seating each night. There is not a lack of seating because the Dining Hall is small. The lack of seating is due to the fact that there are not many restaurants nearby. It is unfortunate because the guests who paid good money are subject to be overcharged for poor quality meals. Using 650NTD, you can eat at a much better restaurant and/or stock up at the Seven (about 3 kilometers from the hotel), which is what we did, and I suggest any future guest do, if you stay at Ming Ging.
In a nutshell:
I give Ming Ging a 2 star rating. Ming Ging does an excellent job at exploiting its guests by using its isolate location to provide poor service, which in a way, makes poor service "acceptable" and forces guests to be tolerant. Also, be prepared to walk if you are staying anywhere else besides the Main Block. Local transportation is very limited. If you are traveling to Ming Ging, I suggest that you bring/rent a car. Try to pack lightly as well. In the blocks I stayed in, there was no elevator lift.

LOCATION
Cingjing, Nantou, about 1.5 hrs drive from Taichung Highspeed Train Station.
TRANSPORTATION
We hired our private transportation.
Alternatively, you can get the mingshu to pick you up for a fee.
RECEPTION
On the way walking into the reception, an outdoor wooden deck with awesome views greet you. A homely reception welcomes you with decor like Peter Rabbit lining all over. You get to choose your room from the computer at the reception. That is pretty awesome! Next to the reception is the main dining hall. I believe during winter, the fireplace actually works. Pictures of the mingshu with snow (displayed at lobby) looks very pretty!
CONNECTIVITY
Free Wifi at main wing of hotel and rooms. Great connectivity.

None.
Note: 2306 is a spartan room and we like our friends' more but they pay more!
1) We stayed at Old England Manor Hotel for 2 nights and moved to another hotel, requested MingJing Hotel to pick us up which is just less than 1 km away, got rejected. End up Old England Hotel sent us to MingJing Hotel.
2) its winter solstice and they have buffet with tang yuan, we requested to pay for just 2 bowls of tang yuan as we had our dinner outside, they rejected eventhough we want to pay for 2 bowls of tang yuan. Utterly dissapointed.
3)Blanket size couldnt cover both of us on a king size bed and we end up requested for another blanket and they did not put a cover to the quilt.
4) Breakfast spread is limited.
This hotel is just for the scenery, service was bad, bath tub is yellowish. No english cd.
We are assigned to a room in block B, which is right behind block A. the room is nicely furnished and new. but we dont enjoy any view as our room is facing a slope. this is extremely disappointing. the bed is very comfortable with fluffy duvet. but the aircon had got some real problem, it switched on and off throughout the night. once it is off, the room felt vacuum, so it disturbed my sleep.
You will need to arrange your own transport up and down the mountain. Public bus is available, but at long intervals. public bus will bring you to a bus stop below the farm, you may need to call the farm for pick-up service. otherwise, it will be a 30mins walk up the mountain.
after 6pm, there is no activities in that area and there will be no transfer service after 6pm. Dinner in the farm needs to be prearranged. Otherwise, grab your dinner at the Misty Plaza (MOS burger, Starbucks, 7-11 and a steamboat restaurant) before heading back to the farm.
Green Green Grassland is pretty near to the farm and its really fun there. But Swiss Garden is not worth visiting. tickets for this two attractions can be purchased with the MingGing farm reception.
I must admit that Room 3103 is well decorated with small outdoor balcony. However, it is not suitable if you have a kid with you. It is quite cramped and not much space for movement indoor.
On the other hand, Room 1207 is very spacious even though it does not look new. It comes with an outdoor balcony with 2 beach chairs and a table, overlooking the mountains.
You will be invited for a free afternoon high tea, if you are staying for a minimum of 2 nights.
They do provide free shuttle service if you plan to visit the Cing Jing Farm 青青草原,and the return pickup is at the carpark area infront of Starbucks Coffee (do not worry, there is only one there). Please note that the meh meh show is not available on weekdays.
Hotel staff are friendly and helpful. Do feel free to approach them for any help/advice. They helped us to arrange for dinner at 伊拿谷, which provides free 2-way transport to the restaurant. Set dinner for 2 is around NT580 and it is of reasonably good quality. They are famous for their chicken which they cooked in groups of 4, in each gigantic jars.
On our second night, we had our dinner (set dinner) in the hotel (around NT890 for 2). They are known for their pork knuckles (around NT680) so if you are coming, do give it a try.
Do note that moving around in Cing Jing area is a challenge if the hotel does not provide any free/paid shuttle service. Generally taxis here charge by per trip, or per day booking.
On our last day, we booked our transport and was given a Mercedes S350 for our journey to Taipei Taoyuen Airport as we have 2 x large luggages, 1 x 18kg box, 1x stroller and 3 of us.
Kiity and her team of colleagues have provided great services (from making reservation, dinner recommendation and linking us up with the transport company) to make our stay a memorable one.
