Room is big and spacious, but bathroom is very basic. The walkway between the hotel main building (beside the road) and annex building (behind the main building) is not sheltered. During our stay, it was raining and we had to dash between the buildings to get to our breakfast. Breakfast is also very basic and caters to local taste. The biggest issue we had at the annex building was the bright spot lights shinning on the building the whole night and the windows curtains are not thick enough to block out the light. We didn't have a good night sleep.
Very nice fresh air. We were lucky enough to catch the cherry blossom flowers starting to appear. Should spend at least 2 nights here since already made the travel all the way up the mountain. (we only stayed one night though as we had no idea the home-stay was located high up in the mountain). Elderly people are advised not to stay here as there is only stairs facilities to access to room floors. My father has issues walking up and down the stairs, and it was quite difficult for him as we stayed on the 3rd floor. The food choices were okay at night. There is only cup noodles sold at the home-stay in the afternoon if you want a snack. You should visit the tea shop opposite this home-stay to buy some tea and snacks from the kind aunty! She is very friendly to all customers, made us feel very welcomed on our second day in Taiwan. Stayed during January 2016…
The area called "Qing Jing" (in putonghua phonetics or "Cing Jing" in Taiwanese phonetics) is an isolated area high up in the mountains near Hehuan mountain, and Taroko national park. So expect accommodation is going to be pushed up due to limited supply and the popularity of Qingjing as a base for tourists to visit the area. This place is more like a chalet than a hotel, it has the ambient humidity due to constant mist coming off the mountain and clouds every day, and service is basic. Amenities: Rooms are fairly large and spacious, all have wifi internet, TVs, large bathrooms (with a mixed shower/toilet, supplied by natural springs (means water is not drinkable out the tap), food served is basic, but decent. Location: Remote from main urban areas, but perfect if you plan to spend a few days visiting the area. Staff: All quite helpful, and friendly as expected. I would only have 1 complaint which is the price, which I found a bit high, but given the market for accommodation in that small hamlet, I cannot say I am surprised. If I was staying the area again, I would still consider staying here again, or at the other location just a few steps up the hill, called "Huis Ten Bosch" which has a similar sett-up and rates.…
Stayed in this minsu as part of a group tour. Basic accommodation, near to main road and have to walk up a steep slope for about 100 metres. Our tour bus got problem going up there, so we had to walk up the slope. Room appears very old, with no aircon or heater. Stayed on the upper floor. Tables and chairs were placed outside the rooms for the visitors to get together. Noises and laughter outside can clearly be heard inside the room even the door and window are closed. The only good thing is they provide us the ticket to the hotspring bath behind the minus which I believe belong to them.
We stayed for 1 night in a 3rd floor room with 2 queen sized beds. Overall, the decor of the room is cosy/country style. The view from our room window was good, and we could see the "cloud sea" (云海) in the surrounding mountains. Breakfast was also decent. Now for the cons. My peeves about the room were: 1. There is no lift in the building, so someone, either yourself or the hotel porter has to carry the luggage up the stairs. 2. There is no heater in the room, and when we went in the week of 18 Nov 2013, it was so cold that it was unthinkable (at least for my family of 3) to bathe. In addition, we had to put on our thickest jackets to bed.
I got the minsu of 2 beds a night at NT$2300 with a special channel in Taichung. Price wise, I cannot comment. For a NT$2300, it is worth to stay I can say but if more than NT$3000, I would not stay. There are >150 minsu (b&b) in Cing Jing area. No sound proof? I agree. But maybe I stay during weekday, the environment is quiet. Just a 10second walk out and you reach bus stop. Compare to some minsu which you need to walk 5-10min to reach minsu. Breakfast is nice. (in my opinion).
For NT$ 4630 a night for two beds. This was the worst hotel I'd experienced in the past thirty years. In any city. Hotel is right next to a busy gas station. And my room had zero sound proof. So it'd stayed noisy till mid night. There's no valley view at all. Don't trust the photos on website. Restaurant charged ten percent service free. But they offered just wooden chopsticks and plastic bowls and plates. No water was served. Waiter and waitress were busy playing with phone games. My food waited ten idol over the counter till I checked why
