This hotel felt like it was family run. The young gentleman at the front desk Mr Liu was very helpful and friendly and more than not went out of his way to help us and do note this hotel has no elevators so he was helping us lug our heavy bags up the stairs! Simple comfort with country style furnishings. Do note the hotel do have a few mosquitoes when we arrived in our room but they do have mosquito nets so not exactly sure how they came in. Their is not central heating but the beds are electric blankets for your stays during winter which was more than suffice when we stayed there in late December. The hotel boasts of the view of the famous landmark Old England Manor and you can take wonderful pictures just outside in the garden. Breakfast is simple with porridge and usual Taiwanese condiments although be early for breakfast as sometimes given the limited space it is hard to get a table if you have a big group. Felt the bathrooms were a bit dated and would have loved a bench or shelf just to hold our shampoo and shower gel etc, we ended up placing those items on the window sill. The mattresses were a bit too soft for my liking but I am usually one who prefers a very firm Japanese/tatami like mattress. If you're looking for luxury 4-5 star hotel this won't be a place for you as it is a family run hotel with simple comforts but top notch services overcomes what it lacks in other areas.

Spent a night in this homestay, high tea is available before 5:30pm. The young male staff is very helpful and friendly. Breakfast is available starting 7:30am. Distance to nearest 7-11 is quite far, recommend to buy whatever u need before checked into the hotel

Rooms were old and the beds were creaky. The shower screen even dropped while my mum was showering. There were also mosquitoes in the rooms and we only managed to kill a few. The young male staff was friendly and helpful but the middle-aged man was rude. Perhaps the only consolation was the great view.

It is our first time to QingJing and we stayed here for 2 nights. The hostel is quite secluded and a bit hard to find even if our taxi driver used GPS. We arrived in the afternoon, just in time for the complimentary biscuits and tea served between 2-5pm. The rooms are basic with all the necessary amenities, and it felt like staying at a home. Our room was on the second floor with balcony, which had a very nice view of the Old England Manor and surrounding landscape. It was a pity that there it was raining during both nights, otherwise we could have sat out at the balcony to admire the stars. The breakfast did not have many choices, but good enough to fill ourselves up. However, the best thing about this place are the staffs and owner of the hostel. They were all very friendly and forthcoming, and gave us a lot of useful advice. They even provide complimentary pickup service at times, which was very helpful as we did not have a car and it was quite difficult to get around. Furthermore, the restaurants which they recommended had pickup service and was genuinely of good quality. Overall, we really enjoyed the hospitality and would come back again if we have the chance.

Terrific, well maintained guesthouse with lovely scenic views at a very reasonable price. Originally we were at Hehuanshan and, spur of the moment, decided to stay the night in Cingjing. After making a couple of calls with the usual 'how much is your budget nonsense' of several guesthouses in the area, including one who offered a view of the Old England's car park for 3000nt, we came across this place and the young guy who was very precise yet friendly in his phone manner- so decided we to take a look. So, he gave us 200 off straight away which was decent and the room we took could have slept 7. There was two double beds up on the balcony area, a sofa chair and another double downstairs. The room is spacious and well maintained. We stayed at the end of May and it got abit chilly, so, yeah, I could imagine it being pretty cold in winter, but then again giving a budget guesthouse a poor review because of the lack of your own personal research is a bit strong. It gets cold in Taiwan in December, even more so at an altitude of 1700 metres! Woke up in the morning to be offered with beautiful views of the mountains. Didn't sleep particular well, not through lack of comfort, the bed was nice and the weather was very comfy, but because of the chalet nature of the rooms and leaving the windows open you can hear every bump, syllable, movement of your fellow guests and this one in particular started at 5am. Really don't know what they were doing, but sounded like they were moving house! Extremely inconsiderate. Obviously, it's not the villa's fault and we may have just been unlucky to be situated next to the Addams family but remember that the walls are not thick. The price is very good and includes breakfast of the usual fare. The garden area with swing seats is particularly nice. Very good value, good staff, great views. A very comfortable couple of days and highly recommended.

Stayed at the loft unit with my mom in March 2016. Likes: - Room was generally clean n well kept. - the property had a nice little garden with seats and swings, looking out to CingJing. - great view of the mountains and overlooks several other well known accommodations. Applies to both view from the room and the garden. - staff had great hospitality service and attitude. They waited patiently for us despite us being slightly late, helped with bags up the stairs (our room was at level 3). They gave a quick rundown of the room, and even mentioned that we could ask shd we have any qns on the room facilities. I observed that they helped guests with booking of taxis too. - Breakfast was a simple and decent spread with multigrain porridge, eggs, sausages, cabbages, and lotsa local preserved vegetables. Dislikes: - the windows and corners near it were dirty n grubby. More attention could be paid to cleaning of this part. Other points to note (but not a big issue to me): - Some of the points below are for consideration, noting that the villa probably kept it that way to keep prices affordable compared to other properties in CingJing. So do stay here with reasonable expectations. - there are no room heaters. only bed heater. This is not uncommon nor ridiculous in Taiwan or cold climate. So do prepare sufficient warm clothes even indoors, as is normal. - little things like the placement of mirrors and hairdryer was far apart, so no blow drying your hair in front of the mirror. - hot water is provided from boilers located at the corridor. Do expect to get out of your room to fill up the water flask. - the location maybe slightly remote and inconvenient for those who don't drive. I noted that it would probably take at least a 15-20mins walk from the main road if u carried luggage.

liked it a lot. It was very comfortable with lots of space even though there were of us in a room. Electric blankets were available if you were cold as well. It is a bit far from restaurants, but if you have a good driver, you have nothing to worry about. Breakfast is good and so is tea (at around 3). The biscuits were great. There was also a washing machine available for use. Walls were a bit thin, but i slept well regardless.

The view from the guest house were breath-taking, can see old England Mansion from there. It is really like stepping into a house in europe countryside. Pro : Nice scenery, near to eatery and convenient shop (10 mins walk), near swiss garden, friendly owner Cons : The room i got was a bit stuffy although windows were opened. Quite a challenging experience to walk to nearby convenient shop at night as the road is not well lit

We couldn't locate the minsu on our gps. We followed the signage and managed to find the minsu. If you are not driving, it's quite a long walk to the nearest 7-11 and eateries. The view from our loft unit was simply breath-taking. The room was quite clean and cosy. I like the country style deco in the room. We were staying at the highest floor i.e. 3rd floor. The staff were friendly and helpful. One young man helped us to carry our luggage up the stairs. Unlike what I read in the review, there were heaters on the bed. Even on the mattress at the upper level of our loft unit was heated too. We didn't feel cold in the room during our stay in December. Afternoon tea with Earl Grey tea and butter cookie was served at 5pm. I loved the swing at the patio. Absolutely enjoyed our stay here at Cingjing.

stayed at Euro Country Villa during the Cingjing leg of my Taiwan travel. it was a cosy and decent experience. location-wise, it's slightly off the tourist centre at Cingjing. we took up the offer from the minsu to pick us up from the bus stop, so we didn't have to lug our luggages up the slopes. because of its location, it's rather quiet and boasts of a great view. the minsu's interiors had a nice European and homely vibe to them - and they went perfectly with the chilly weather. my friend and I stayed in the room with a double bed (was pleasantly surprised that it's a king-sized bed). the bed had a heated mattress pad, which worked great and was very comfortable in the chilly night (though travelers may wish to note that there is no heater in the room, so the room atmosphere and flooring can get cold if temperatures dip). room amenities were decent. the room also had a nice balcony that we could sit outside to enjoy the great mountainous view. breakfast was homely, particularly liked their multigrain porridge. service staff were friendly, and shared with us clear directions how to get back to the minsu from the visitor centre via a shorter path. (this path does not have many streetlights, so it is rather dark. torchlights are needed at night.) for the price we paid (had a discount deal off third-party booking site), it's value for money.
