We stayed at this property as it was the gathering point for a 7-day guided bus tour of Taiwan. We’d spent the previous three nights in Taoyuan at a rather modest Airbnb nearby, so the Tao Garden Hotel was a step up for us. We really appreciated to be allowed to check-in and occupy our room about 3 hours early...a flexibility and generosity by the staff and management whom we found to be friendly and helpful on every occasion. Our room was on the back side away from busy (and noisy) Fuxing Lu and while the view of was hardly enchanting, it was a quiet room. We could see the railway station about 200 metres from our window. The room was spacious and clean (apart from the stained carpet – clean room and hall carpets seem to be a challenge in many hotels in Taiwan.) The surface of the desk in the room was worn and stained and looked out of place with the rest of the modern furniture in the room. The desk also lacked a desk light. The twin beds were very comfortable. There was lots of hot water. The shower door gasket was leaking at the bottom and made the bathroom floor slippery. We’d read the previous critical reviews here about the breakfast buffet but we found it exceeded our expectations. The breakfast offerings were as good as or better than any of the other hotels we stayed at during our tour and my wife enthusiastically took a lot of photos of the buffet area. I could see how a westerner like myself might be slightly disappointed at the lack of European breakfast items like fried or scrambled eggs. We’d certainly stay here again if we found ourselves back in Taoyuan.…
Amazing and helpful staff. Enjoyed my stay here would definitely stay here again. Room was clean, linen was also clean. Enjoyed their breakfast buffet which has a mixture of both Western breakfast and Taiwanese.
This is the third time we stayed at this hotel. We love its location: a few blocks from the train station and in the center of Taoyuan. It's close to restaurants, department stores and shops. Our experience last time was not great because of the cigarette smell in the room. It is a non-smoking hotel but clearly people did smoke. This year we were lucky. No cigarette smell. We also booked an executive suite. Tao Garden's regular rooms are already quite spacious, but the executive suite not only has a living room, it also has an additional bathroom (toilet and sink). It was a very nice feature given that there were two of us and we stayed here for three nights. It made our stay here just that much more pleasant. Things to improve: (1) The breakfast buffet unfortunately remains the same--not many choices and nothing exciting. We basically skipped the breakfast and went out for better options. (2) The gym is pretty sad. The worst machines I've seen. One added bonus: This year we took the high speed train, and the shuttle/bus service from the high speed railway station in outskirt taoyuan has a stop right across from the hotel (with Tao Garden Hotel as the stop name). Wow that really seals the deal for us. Added bonus #2: free underground parking!…
The rooms are clean and spacious. Lobby is small and was a cramped with all the tour groups coming in. There's a small lounge in the lobby. They can do a bit of upgrading with their toilet. Fast wifi. In the shopping district. Breakfast can be better. Overall, we had a nice stay.
Very nice hotel, amazing location. Right in the center of Taoyuans shopping district and a short walk to the train station with easy access to Taipei. Rooms were clean, staff were friendly. Breakfast was very disappointing. I don't mind trying the local food, but they should be aware that the cater to tourists. No eggs, no cheese, no cold meats, nothing.
