This hotel was booked by the tour we were in. It is old and a bit run down. The room is small and very basic, but quite clean. We walked out at night to find a place to eat, and most areas around the hotel are dark. The breakfast area was on the 12th floor with a fantastic view. Breakfast is okay with the traditional buns, congee, and western food.

Stayed 3 nights on the executive floor. Rooms and facilities are very old. Hotel lobby under renovation but do not see any other places renovating. Breakfast not much variety. Hotel is about 10 mins walk to Ximending Mrt station and 5 mins to the nearest 7-11. Requested for breakfast box as we were leaving very early at 6am but it was not arranged. Would not recommend this hotel as there are many more newer hotels near to the station.

Stayed in Hotel Riverview Taipei for 7 nights during my vacation trip to Taipei in December. As I'm travelling in a family of 4, I requested for 2 interconnecting rooms with 2 double beds. Hotel is located just right beside the highway but the noise control is pretty good, as we weren't disturbed by the traffic at all.

Location:
Hotel Riverview Taipei is just a 10 - 15 minutes walk away from the Xi Men Ding metro station. As the back alley could get a little dark during night time, it would be advisable for ladies to not walk alone and try to avoid that dodgy alley at night. In order to avoid that alley, turn right when you exit the hotel. There are many convenience stores, bubble tea shops and other small establishments along the road towards the metro station which is a plus point since we can get our necessities easily. In addition. the hotel is just 15 minutes away from the main stretch of Xi Men Ding shopping street. Getting to Taipei Main Station is just 1 stop away from Xi Men Ding by train.

Rooms:
As we requested for two interconnecting rooms, the rooms are considered rather huge and comfortable. We had the rooms overlooking the Danshui River and it's situated at a high floor hence, views are good. Basic amenities are available. However, I felt that the rooms would require some upgrading or refurbishments in order to stay competitive in the industry.

Breakfast:
The complimentary breakfast buffet located on the 12th floor have breathtaking views of the highways and river as well. You'll get to see the river and get to bask in the warm sunlight while having your breakfast. Breakfast consists of a substantial spread, with dishes of Taiwanese origins and the standard international buffet fare, though it's not as extensive as you think.

Facilities:
There are no facilities such as gym or swimming pool. As we stayed there during winter, I do not really mind about the absence of such facilities since I will not be utilizing them.

Service:
Service staffs are friendly, always smiley and helpful when you need any help. The concierge staffs even gave us some good recommendations of restaurants in the area and provide useful directional help. Also, bellboys are really attentive and help us immediately when he saw us carrying many luggages.

Based on the price we paid, I'd said it is value for money and affordable if you are traveling with a budget.

We were at this hotel for a school trip early January 2020.

On the last night, we left our room key in our shuttle bus and was not able to open the room. The hotel staff requested us to purchase another key temporarily in order to open the room, costing us NTD1,500.

They promised that if we retrieve the original key, they would give us back the money.

The next day after we checked out, we were successful getting back the original key. However, when we gave the key back to the staff, they said that the room lock was already changed and they were unable to give us back the money.

Attaching the receipt we got from the hotel staff, if you read Chinese you can see that the item says "other operational revenue" instead of refundable charges.

Terrible experience and sincerely NOT RECOMMEND this hotel to those who would enjoy their time in Taiwan.

The hotel view, room, food are acceptable. However, I am very disappointed about the services. I stayed at room 412 (3 bed rooms), check in 24/06 - check out 25/06. I forgot my white dress on the bed. My tour guide asked the hotel on 26/06 in order to find it but the staff said that it got lost. I am very disappointed in the staff and the services, my dress was clearly on the bed, it's clearly that your maid or even an old man could see, the dress is big and long. I don’t know why the hotel staff that they have never saw the dress.

Hotel location is not very ideal as it is located at the end of Emei street. Depending on walking speed, will take at least 15mins to get there from Ximen Metro Station. Walking back at night is not very intimidating as I find the street lamps bright enough. Hotel view is excellent, overlooking the Danshui River and a bridge.

Closest convenience stall will be Family Mart and 7-11 both about 3 mins walk away. Nearest supermarket will be Wellcome, about 10-15 mins walk away.

Room cleanliness is quite good except for the bathtub which seems rather old and unmaintained. Housekeepers were friendly and polite and I did not experience them barging in even though I did not place any sign outside my room. Room amenities include a safe, LCD TV, hairdryer, and electric kettle. Plug converter is available upon request from the front desk. Was told by the counter staff that the hotel does not have connecting rooms.

Breakfast is buffet style on the top floor (12th) and has better variety compared to other hotels like Royal Castle, although the food will be the same every day. My only complain is that breakfast ends too early at 9.30am and most of the food will be gone after 9am.

Hotel staff is generally friendly and helpful but do not possess sufficient knowledge of tourist attractions. They will refer you to the travel brochures most of the time so it's best to do your homework beforehand.

Unlike other hotels, this hotel does have a money changer but requires guests to produce their passport before they carry out the transaction. As expected, rates will not be as good as the airport.

WiFi speed is fast but is only available on level 1 and 12, which could be rather troublesome.

I was not able to check-in early when I reached the hotel at 12pm. Was told to wait until 2.30pm before the room is ready.

Overall hotel experience is average, considering the fact that I was told by my travel agent it is a 4-star hotel and hence, costlier than other more popular 3-star hotels. My main gripe is its distance from the nearest metro station.

I've recently booked and stayed in a triple room at the Riverview Hotel of Taipei and I can say I'm pretty happy with it. The location of the hotel at first sight, when you take a cab from the Taoyuan Airport, may seem like it's located in a far out slums of Taipei. Located beside a river and the highway and surrounded by dark, gloomy, run down stores you might think twice about moving around on your own. But then again, that was 1 in the morning when we arrived and were promptly greeted with smiling receptionists who immediately processed our booking and handed us our key.

Entering the hotel room, we're greeted with a not-too-squeezy room, although not spacious like a suite it has enough room for 3 people to move about freely. The sheets are clean, the toilet is clean, there are no weird smells and there's a plasma tv, safe and a fridge. Also, complimentary bottles of water are given daily and that saves us the need to cook water for consumption.

The next morning we were up and ready to explore the place and after a bit of walking we found the MRT station. Turns out it's not that far away, all you need to do is to take a right after exiting the hotel and then walk straight all the way and you'll be in Ximending's area. From there you can easily find the MRT station.

I have not had any trouble with the chambermaids entering inappropriately but found that our room was cleaned up by the time we're back, no matter the time we leave.

Point to take note though, there's no free internet connectivity in the rooms and it costs NT200 for a 24 hour internet service, of which only the first computer that accesses it can continue accessing it. So do not try logging in to the wireless using your ipod of mobile phone if you wish to use it with your computer.

We stayed there for 2 nights under a tour package. During the stay I had disputes with the restaurant and reception staff. All of them tried to stop me to meet the management. However once the Executive Secretary Ms Chuang knew about it she contacted me immediately and also arranged for me to meet the Assistant Manager Ms Wu. During the meeting both of them had discharged their duties professionally. They spent more than an hour to discuss with me about the bad experiences I had . They also did their best to fulfill my request. I appreciated it very much and the way they did definitely shown that they are sincere in listening to the guest and do their best to improve the images of the Hotel. Besides it shows clearly that the management is looking forward and serious about to improve the standard of the hotel by listening to the guest's feedback. Once again thank you very much Ms Wu and Ms Chuang , you have made my stay become more pleasant.

My recent seven-day holiday was pretty much ruined by the bedbug bites that I got as a souvenir from the hotel. A mere 43 bites on my feet.... My eight month old baby also got a about 10 bites on his back.

On the first complaint, they offered to change our room. I declined as I wasn't confident that their wouldn't be bedbugs in the new room. So they sprayed the room. It was no use though as the damage had already been done. The bites were extremely itchy and I really could not enjoy myself at all. That was why I complained a second time. This time they offered us a taxi ride to the airport, which would have cost about $400NT. That's not even enough to cover the $500NT that I spent on creams and antihistamine to helo sooth the itching.

Other points:
- Staff were friendly but not very helpful.
- Good location to Metro but too close the highway so it was noisy at night.
- Breakfast was not good. Food was greasy and poor selection.
- Hotel is old and room is not well maintained.

In short, it was not worth the money and definitely not of four-star standard.

Although exterior of hotel is old, the hotel did a good job in upkeeping the interior of the the hotel. Rooms are clean and tidy. Service is up to standard. Breakfast at the restaurant on the top floor is nice with good view to the city, Check-in was quick. Rooms are clean and tidy. Overall quite comfortable. Need to walk about 10 mins to the popular Ximending area but it is quite easy to walk, as there is not much obstruction. Good stay.

I have called up the hotel to help you ask. The gym is available for use 7am - 10pm but you will need to make a reservation with the front desk so that they can get someone to open the gym for you.
