Always seems to consistently be one of the cheapest hostels, but it doesn't feel that way from the amenities and cleanliness. It's a bit of a ways from the exciting parts of Taipei, but close enough to the MRT that it's not hard to get places. Room type: 1 bed in mixed room Lockers • Size: Large - Can fit carry on and personal item both in there • Access: Keycard access (same one used to access room) Bed • Bunk type: Metal framed capsule. Very high ceilings in top bunk • Light in bunk: Y • Outlet by/in bunk: Y • Bunk curtains: Y • Set up bedding yourself: N • Break down bedding yourself: Y Bathrooms • Combined toilet/shower: N • Hair Dryers: Y • Bathroom shampoo/conditioner/body wash: Common Area: Basement area with combination of couches, tables, and bar seating Amenities • Included towels: N • Included sandals: Y • Included breakfast: N • Laundry: Y - 1 coin operated washer and dryer Misc • Location: A bit of a ways away from the exciting parts of Taipei, but close enough to the MRT that it's not bad to get places Value: Exceptional - Seemed to consistently be one of the top Notes: Entry into rooms and sections of the hostel are keycard activated

Pros: -Location was excellent as near the MRT, and easy to go around in the city -Can leave baggage while traveling Cons -Place was not as clean as the other hostels that I have stayed at (i.e. dirty floors, feels like bedsheets haven't been thoroughly washed, etc.) -Separate toilet and bath (on different floors also which made it inconvenient) -Limited facilities (i.e. only one outlet per bed, no toilet paper usually at the bathroom) -At one time, the hostel closed temporarily due to fumigation, and won't let anyone in. With our luggages inside and our flight in a couple of hours, we were already panicking as we cannot get inside. I even sent a couple of messages to the hostel about it with no replies. Thankfully, the guy who was doing the fumigation let us in, and we were able to get our luggages just in time for our flight.

Stayed here 4 nights. Was ok but there was a tissue with dry blood by my mattress, also mattress is very hard and thin which was comfy, and the pillow is too small :( They had no one in the kitchen for our whole stay.. so couldn’t experience the food there.. lost my card in between the wall and bed frame.. didnt get my security deposit back...

Near longshan MRT. Receptionist was nice and pleasant. Only thing was that there's no staff in the bar if you want to buy something. Other than that, everything is good =). Still recommended place to stay in Taipei.

Let's start off positive. This hostel is one of the cheapest in Taipei, with adequate beds, big lockers (I was able to fit a carry-on size suitcase, 40L backpack, and day pack), bathrooms of middling cleanliness, and very clean and large showers. It's conveniently located near the Longshan Temple and adjacent MRT stop, the Bopiliao historic block, 24-hour Carrefour, a great night market, and the best vegetarian restaurant I've been to in Taipei. It's also not too far of a walk from Ximending. Now to the bad stuff... The very first interaction I had with the manager was him calling me to the front desk to threaten me with calling the police because I had interacted with someone in the common room who was apparently in trouble with the hostel, even though I had no knowledge as to the situation. I subsequently witnessed him threaten two separate other guests with calling the police for bringing non-paying guests into the common room, even though no one is made aware they aren't allowed to bring outside guests. He then actually called the police on a guest who used the luggage storage and common room after checking out, even though she got an employee's permission to do so! I want to reiterate - they might call the police on you for breaking rules of which they do not make you aware!!! One morning during my stay, without any prior notice, one of the employees climbed up into my bed to tell me that I had to move rooms immediately. When I asked the manager why this had happened without any notice, his response was "Well what do you want me to say?" When I pressed the issue, he said it was the hostel's policy, and that guests could be made to change rooms at any time. The entire staff (with the acception of one employee with whom my interactions were quite pleasant) are surly and rude, and seem underpaid and overworked. The wifi is really spotty, even in the common room. I often had to go outside to use my phone's 4G signal. There is no bar. Well the bar is there, but there is no bartender and there are no drinks to serve. Also, guests aren't allowed to use most of the kitchen and only have access to mugs, utensils, refrigerator, and water dispenser. This would have been a more than adequate lodging for the price, but my experience was completely overshadowed by the absolutely abyssmal management and my rather unpleasant interactions with the staff at large.
