We did the research before booking, and we received the warmest welcome and service possible. The hotel located 15 mins away from the Wulai old street by walk. The price included 5 meals, which compared with other thermal resorts in Taipei was very competitive! All meals were well-prepared. The room was big, cozy, and thoughtfully designed. We enjoyed particularly the huge onsen bathtub we had in the room. The public onsen was also very well cleaned and designed. All the staff were helpful and professional. We would love to recommend Volando to anyone who is looking for a high quality thermal experience.

We booked the private spa bath through Klook. We made use of the private shuttle bus to Volando which was a half hour trip from the Metro station. We were greeted warmly on arrival and went to have a look around Wulai before our spa. The town is cute and the waterfall worth a visit. We were shown to our private room which was clean and spacious. The view out the window was amazing and we loved the large window! Our hour started straight away, and the bath took about 20 minutes to fill up, but it was nice to sit in the tub whilst it was filling. It was so relaxing, the water was lovely and you can adjust the temperature to your liking. They let us know when we had 10 minutes left, which gave us enough time to get out and dry. We had a lovely complementary tea and sat on the balcony. after our bath. The whole experience was wonderful and we would highly recommend this!

It's very rare to visit a hot spring resort in Taiwan which has everything going for it. Excellent private hot spring bath in the room (I paid extra to get an upgrade to the best river view and able to see performances from the bathroom in the corner of the 2nd floor.) Services were on the spot and with all the helpful staff (who also take turns for the hotel performances in the afternoon and evenings.) French dinner is very good. I just loved the color of the river and felt extremely relaxed with the green river and green moutains. The only minus was the spa was out of order during our visit unfortunately. Nevertheless, we visited the local bronze artist (who made the bronze gongs with stand musical notes in the lobby). It was at his workshop that I found the first singing bowl that has my favorite sound for healing. Thanks to the hotel staff's recommendation!

I didnt book a room but juz the grandview bathhouse at 330pm few months before my trip and I didnt manage to get on the bus shuttle stop by 3pm. I was 15mins late and asked them if I could shift my appt to 4pm. and the staff said their next bus timing is only at 5pm but i can take a bus849 to go up and so I foolishly thought that meant that my request to change the appt to 4pm was a yes..the bus took quite awhile to reach, without clear signs i actually walked to a few different hotspring before coming to the correct one..when i reached, they say room is fully booked and the next appt is at 6pm, then why the hell didnt the staff suggest that i take the 5pm bus instead since the only appt is at 6pm?! At least I could still do some shopping at Xindian? they said they have either the room with no view or have to wait till 6pm, without warning me that the sky is gonna go dark and you cudnt see a damn thing anyway too..sorry but cuz 6pm in SG, the sky is not dark yet..it wud be more pleasant if the staff cud at least put tat out to me before i decide..and when i saw the room i started to wonder if there are ppl at the mountain on the other side who cud see thru? I understand it cud be a oneway mirror when theres daylight but its the other way ard during then night especially when the room was lit?..i wish i cud ask the staff who bring me to the room, but without any orientation the staff 'ran away' as soon as he bring me..and so it was a terrible experience for me..the only thing i enjoyed the most was the 2 bottled water provided in the room.

We stayed there for a night. A very warm welcome by hotel staff and paid high attention to our needs. The food served are delicious and with quantity more than you asked for. We had a room overlooking a breathe taking view while relaxing in the hot spring. Very inspiring performance by the masters throughout the day. The only area of improvement - If the server at soyan restaurant could briefly explained what’s been served during dinner would be even better.

Walked-in for a day use right after my long flight to kill some time and relax during my 14-hr layover. It's really worth the price since I only paid USD28! I got to shower, soak, drink coffee, tea, and even lie down to rest. They have a free hourly pick up from the Xindian MRT station, just call ahead. Drop off is also every hour but have to pay a few NT$ if you're not a hotel guest. Taxi from Xindian MRT is pretty pricey and a flat rate, so take the free shuttle or take the bus 849 for NT$15. Only downside of the resort was the doorman completely ignored me when I arrived and there was a bit of wait and line at the reception. They were fully dependent on 1 receptionist though 2 were at the counter. The other was "assisting". They could've split the line into two for hotel check in/out and hot springs/concierge or questions.

The place was indeed amazing. Staff was great too. What made our experience terrible is the booking management and awful customer support. We were originally booked for a 2PM we made our plans based on this. For no reason at all we were bumped to 8PM the day before. We had to change our planned schedule for our trip. On the day of our booking, after we made all our plans per the time change again we received a message advising we can come again at 2PM. Other than missing out on the very nice view due to lack of day light, we were also not advised in advance that being bumped at 8PM means the nice snacks will be served to us in a take-out. Like how disorganized the booking was, whoever was communicating to us was also terrible. When we weren't happy about the snacks going to be on a take-out pack they clarified that it will be served in our room as we originally expected. When we arrived we were surprised to still get a nice paper bag with our snacks. Apparently kitchen is closed by 5PM which simply means our nice little packed snack has been sitting there for probably 3 hrs or more. Texture was as bad but it did taste as good as other people say. It was packed nicely too. Again quality wise and how it was presented was just not what we were expecting. Maybe we just feel like we were tricked. We were just truly disappointed with missing the view and getting served the snacks that way as we paid a good sum expecting what we have been reading in the reviews. If not for the schedule change and terrible communication and not setting the right expectation we would have had an amazing time there.

I love zen-away holidays and finally checked out Volando Urai in November (2019) upon my best friends’ recommendation. My travel criteria this time is a 4 days 3 nights getaway, flight time from Singapore to Destination under 5 hours, where 2 nights is spent at a hot springs resort. My overall experience to Urai is fabulous and Volando definitely made up most of it. Accessibility: I took a 1am flight from Singapore to Taipei and landed at Taoyuan airport at 5.40am. Took a train to Taipei main station and switched to green MRT line to get to Xindian MRT station. From there I took a taxi and paid TWD 680 (flat rate) to reach the resort as I have a big luggage, and reached at 8.20am. The local bus that runs every 15mins does not have space for big luggage. I did not experience any challenges traveling with a suitcase. Service: Upon arrival, I was greeted warmly by the guest service officer. The check in process includes a briefing of the type and timing of activities/performances at the resort, tea time and supper; scheduling breakfast and dinner timings, food allergies check and selection of essential oils for evening turndown service. I also made appointments for spa services. Room: I stayed at a Grand View corner room (701) where the hot springs tub in the bathroom has a fantastic view of the river (I made full use of it!). All mini bar items are included in the room rate and there’s a complimentary CD to take home. I love the pillow selections, facial sheet masks and Clarins amenities. Love the warm toilet seat too. *note - no children under 8 years old will be accommodated. Hot springs: I used the public hot springs upon arrival in the morning as check in time is at 3pm and my room was not ready yet. There’s a sauna and steam room, indoor pools and one outdoor pool to sooth the travel tired muscles. There is a nice resting area Spa: The two therapists I’ve had were experienced and I left the spa both times relaxed, refreshed and rejuvenated. I love the post-spa conversations where the therapists share the problem areas and how to prevent it from recurring. The treatment rooms have a beautiful view of the river. I would definitely recommend a spa treatment after a long day of hiking. Or you can opt for the digestive system treatment if you are on a detox program. Resort activities/performances: There are life rituals performances scheduled everyday, which includes the Drum and Gong and Speechless Chess. There is also the crystal bowl sharing which I’ve enjoyed. These meaningful performances calms the mind and connects one to the nature. Food: There are two restaurants at Volando - Soyan (French cuisine) and Soyan (Italian). Breakfast is served everyday at Soyan and they have western and Taiwanese breakfast selection. I have tried both and they are delicious, hearty portions. I had tea at both restaurants and preferred the one at Soyan. I also have set dinner at both restaurants. There are some hits and misses (so-so) but overall the food quality is fresh and I enjoyed my dinners. Supper is delicious and served in the room upon request with no additional charge. Book an early breakfast and dinner slot so that you get a window seat with the river view. For dinner, look out the windows as there could be beautiful butterflies and flock of white colored birds flying by. I had the fortune of watching a flock of white colored birds flying by during dinner and the spot light from the resort on the birds made it such a spectacular sight. Attractions: Wulai Old Street is about a 15 minutes walk from the resort. At the end of the old street, take the mining cart to reach the Wulai waterfalls. If you enjoy waterfalls and more negative ions, I strongly recommend you visit Neidong National Forest Recreation Area. The resort can arrange for a taxi for you. I love the fresh air and scenic waterfalls. Thank you Volando for the recommendation. I love the Volando experience - calm, relaxed, rejuvenated zen-away destination. It’s a great place to pamper yourself and chill out. I will surely return again.

The establishment was beautiful, first impression was great. Mr. Jacob, the host was a pleasant. In general the staff is great. We love the guestroom (803) it’s relaxing , warm and spacious. Bathroom has full amenities, nice and big except the toilet door is too big, we have a hard time passing through to close the door ( the toilet control is behind the door) Living room is wide and open, free BEER, sparkling water, sodas. Nice!. Full couch and ottoman. Beautiful King sz. Bed sturdy, soft slim line dark brown wood with white drapes all around. The balcony has beautiful views of the river and the forest hill across. But was RESTRICTED by the big 2 walls on both sides. The tea time in the afternoon was nice with beautiful play by the Silence Chest performance and the drum played by the art director himself. The public and private hot springs was ok. It’s small and lack of openess but clean. The public hot springs is actually sharing with the public. So it’s kind of confused and chaos. Dinner was excellent but breakfast is so so. In over all it’s a beautiful place just need to upgrade a bunch of details and for 450 US. Dollars a night, I believe it’s way over price compare to Japanese hot springs. I don’t think I will come back.
