We stayed at J Residence recently for 8 nights. We were a family of 13 and chose their 4 bedroom apartment.
The apartment was great. Very spacious, comfortable bed and has almost all of the amenities we needed.
Location was central, close to a local market and there’s a Convenience store close by.
However, we need to remember that it is a service apartment independently owned and ran by a local tycoon. So the staff were friendly but not very professional: cleaning was not thorough, when we were having trouble with the tv, they don’t really know how to fix it, and when the electricity was off, they only have generator for the common area.
However, overall, we had a great stay and loved the apartment. We highly recommend it for families

We booked a 4 bedroom which comes with 4 en-suited bathroom for our 2 night stay in Taipei via Agoda. Check-in was fast. Security was very good. Your room card is needed in order to get into J Palace Residence building and the lift. Each level is only accessible to the apartment unit room cards and there is only one apartment unit for our level. Hence, we can always just go into our apartment without tapping in. We just need to lock the door at night. The living room area with the dinning is good enough for 8 of us. Rooms are as per actual pictures in Agoda. It comes with a kitchen, microwave, cutlery, washing machine and even a dryer! Outside the kitchen is the balcony for hanging out the laundry which is very useful. There is a 7-11 which is just besides J Palace and this is very convenient for us. Walk in the direction of Watsons and you will see many breakfast shops. Further in, you will come to the traditional market selling fish, veggies, clothes and snacks patronized by the locals. There is also a temple if you walk further up a slope. You will also come across outdoor barber and it’s only TWD 100 per haircut! A very different experience and the elderly loved it a lot! Location - 10 mins car ride to the nearby Raohe night market, 10 mins walk to HouShanPi station (後山埤捷運站) and we are near to Wufenpu wholesale (五分鋪) too.

I have seen good reviews about this residence and decided to give it a try during one of my stays in Taipei. What attracted me was the price and the location. As the nightly rate was relatively cheap I have decided to give it a shot.
If I had the chance to choose again, I would have not made this decision. Here is why and a few reasons where this possibly could be suitable for you.
First of all if you are travelling alone or as a couple you should forget about this place. It's inappropriate let alone lack of sense of privacy. You are merely in a suite within a 3 bedroom apartment. You do get your own bathroom inside the suite but that's about it. The suite I was in had two doors to the bathroom, one to the bedroom and one to the corridor which felt extremely strange. My experience was not pleasant as there is no 'do not disturb' sign that I can use to hang outside of the door to my suite and one cleaner came into the room while I was having a shower. (And I forgot which door he came in from) I definitely wouldn't want to stay here if I was traveling alone or with my partner and risk people walking in without even knocking.
However if you are traveling in a big group whereby you can get the whole floor to yourself this could be great. You get your own kitchen your own dining/living area that is very spacious and then 3 to 4 separate ensuite bedrooms.
I traveled alone and decided not to stay more than a night and went with a different hotel for the remainder of my stay.
