The location of this cozy B&B is very convenient, just a minute's walk from the Sun Moon Lake bus station/Shuishe Visitor Center, jetty, restaurant and souvenir shop. The lady owner (Mei Jen) was very friendly and informative, she sells discounted boat tickets as well as Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village ticket (up to 29 percent). Room was clean and comfortable, Mos Burger voucher for breakfast was included in the price. Also, do not miss the sunrise tour if you are staying in Mei Jen House, the sunrise is awesome, the morning air was cool and fresh, Sun Moon Lake in the early morning was really serene and beautiful. Thanks to Mei Jen, it was a great experience. If you plan to go to Alishan by Nantou / Yuan Lin bus 6739 that leaves Sun Moon Lake at 8am like us, then reservation is needed as the seat was very limited (small bus) while in high demand, the owner is very helpful, she can make the seat reservation for you.…

The external of the hotel may not look much but the room is certainly clean and given the relative prices of the hotels around sun moon lake, this is one of the value for money deal you can get. Although this is home ran, the hotel has facilities such as hot water, coffee maker and various drinks and the rest is pretty standard, without missing items. You will feel the full range of service as good as any hotel. In addition, there is a "tour" here the owner can bring you out to watch the rising sun in the morning if you like, but it is early 5:30am in the morning. She would show you some great spots to get your photos. There is 7-11, Watson's and even small gift shops just beside the hotel. Do get your souvenirs at these stores nearby because they cost a lot more over at other stores across the lake. I would definitely come book this hotel again when I return to Sun Moon Lake.…

Mei Jen House is a really nice property with a lot of character in a good central location. This is located on the main road through the town, with lots to do nearby (lots of options for bike hire nearby, 7-11 almost across the road.) The owners are very friendly and helpful, and even got up early to walk us to the best spot for the sunrise. Breakfast is currently provided in the form of 7-11 vouchers, which gives you lots of good options.

Stayed for 2 nights at this hotel. Our room is very nice and cosy. Hotel is well located to the bus station and eateries. We enjoyed the sunrise tour a lot. We assembled at the lobby at 4.30am and took a short walk to ZhaoWuMaTou (朝雾码头) to catch the sunrise. Breakfast was 7-11 vouchers where we can buy whatever we want to eat there. 7-11 is just opposite the hotel. Lastly there is no lift in this hotel so please pick a room on a low floor e.g. level 2.

We arrived at Mei Jen House sometime after lunch. Thankfully, our driver was able to locate the place without wasting much time. As we were in a hurry to take the boat ride, we left our luggage there. Meizhen was really friendly and offered us information as to where to take the boat and the timing available. We bought ferry tickets from her instead as it was much much cheaper than to purchase it at the booth. So this is a tip for you. If you do book the room directly with her, she may throw in ferry tickets during promotion period. When we returned to the hotel after dinner, our luggage had been placed in our room. It was at the top level, 4th floor. I'm so thankful I didnt have to carry my heavy luggage up the stairs. There is no lift at the moment, but was informed, lift is in the midst of installing at the backyard. So it would be much easier for tourist next time to bring their luggage up. We were disappointed to learn, due to the renovation ongoing, there wasnt any buffet breakfast. We were given 7-11 cards to redeem for our breakfast, which is just located opposite the house. Very convenient. 7-11 has a 2nd level for having your meals. Free coffee, milk tea, hot water dispenser all provided. Meizhen offered us freshly baked bread for breakfast. I love the welcoming environment of the reception area, where it is decorated like a mini forest and you feel like Alice in wonderland. There is tv at the ground level too, so you can watch tv and chat with the owner. Free sun rise watching can be arranged with the owner, but alas, we were too dead tired to wake up at 430am. Such a pity. Was told that the sun was like a bright red egg yolk that morning. So you should aim to wake up to see the sun rise and take some magnificient pictures if you can. We booked a quadruple room. The room was in pink, decorated with hello kitty drawings. Very girly, I like. The bed was firm, bedsheets, quilts, pillow were clean. Toilet was clean and toiletries were provided in sachet form for shampoo, body cleanser. Towels provided too. The room was spacious enough for us to open up 2 luggage. There is a wardrobe for you to hang your clothings if needed. Hairdryer available too. The only issue we had was, there was road renovation ongoing until very late, and was really loud and noisy that we couldnt get to sleep. No idea how long it ended, probably past midnight or so. All in all, it was a comfortable stay for us. We might not consider staying a night in Sun Moon Lake, should we visit again, as by the time night fall, there isnt much activities to do. It was really relax and enjoy the cool weather and listening to some street musicians singing. Very very leisure. Not for those fast-paced tourist. …

The staff was very responsive to my queries on Whatsapp. She is also helpful and friendly. She recommended interesting places to visit/ eat/ fun activities. Most importantly, her recommendations are good! For instance, you can go cycling around the area/ take a boat ride to tour the different island/ go to 九族theme park. The room is comfortable and clean. There is also a free sunrise tour! Will definitely stay here again. However, do note that there is currently no lift but she will help you with the luggages.

Friendly & passionate owner Mei Jen, who gave detailed advice on how to get around, must sees in SML. She also offers sunrise viewing tour for free, and taught us how to take the best sunrise pictures of SML. She also prepared us delicious & filling breakfast. The place in general and the room were cozy, clean and comfortable. It's located near the pier where people take ferry to get around the lake. Will definitely come back again, as staying here make the entire experience amazing!

The hotel is close to the pier from where you can take a boat for a cruise or simply walk (or ride) around the lake. The hotel also offers to bring the customers to the lake's shores to see the Sunrise, which I strongly recommend for people that don't mind waking up early in the morning (beautiful view of the mountains).

Mei Jen House is very near to Bus Stop and Jetty. After arrive Sun Moon Lake via bus, this guesthouse is just few step distance from the bus stop. The owner was very welcoming and allow us went for the ferry tour first before check in as we only stayed one night here. The location was very near to the jetty thus is very convenient for us. The breakfast also had different selections and the taste was good. The sunrise here was great and the owner had bring us to one of the best location to view the sunrise. Will come back here if next time come to Sun Moon Lake

My boyfriend and I stayed at Mei Jen House during Chinese New Year. We had travelled around Taiwan and had stayed at a few hotels but Mei Jen House was definitely our favourite. The place has a lovely family feel. The staff are very friendly and helpful. There was even the option of waking up at 5:30 am to go and watch the sun rise. The house's location is very convenient. It is located right next to the ferry and information booth. Each room is decorated with a cute theme (its a big part of why I chose to stay there in the first place) and we both thought that the facilities were great. The breakfast had lots of different options and there is even a coffee machine with free coffee (my bf was very excited by this). We are planning to come back to Sun Moon Lake and when we do, we will definitely book to stay at Mei Jen House again.…
