Just finished a month long visit to Taipei and stayed at the Grand Victoria. Our visit with family was great and our hotel was fantastic. Every person working there were attentive to our every needs. Special shout out to Amber & Karchi who work the front desk together. Rarely do my wife and I stay at a hotel for a month but this was a special trip, Whenever we needed ANYTHING the dynamic duo stepped up for us. #5STARREVIEW
The Grand Hotel is one of Taipei's most prominent landmarks. The hotel is built in classical Chinese style; it is a favorite for selfies. The Grand is famous for its food, which is rated among the best Chinese food in the world. The housekeeping is good. Several tunnels, which were dug on the orders of Generalisimo Chiang Kai-shek as escape routes, have been revealed recently. The Grand Hotel was built on the site of a Shinto shrine. The Grand Hotel's fengshui is said to be excellent
The Grand Hotel does live from past glory, and it looks nicer from the outside than from the inside; it is very expensive for what it offers, and kind of remote. But the lobby is dramatic and very Insta-worthy, and we were here this time for a nice welcome-back dinner with a glorious view of Taipei that just cannot be beat. The traditional Chinese/Taiwanese food was good, and the restaurant was packed, but the furniture etc. surprisingly low-key and even a bit cheap, given the surroundings. More homely than elegant or let alone upscale; the same, I would say, for the staff. A huge selection of dishes, and much of it okay, with some really excellent. In a way, a strange experience because there is a difference between the claim of the hotel and the reality on the ground, but a pleasant experience nonetheless.…
The Grand Hotel is a historic institution. In Chinese it's called "the Grand Round Mountain Hotel." It's a great place to dine. The Grand Hotel is located at the top of Chung Shan North Road. It's easy to get into the city. The Grand Hotel has dominated the Taipei hospitality scene for many years.
This is a really elegant hotel in Taipei that looks wonderful from the outside. The interior has wonderful decorations and interior design. It has a great location for your trips around Taipei for sightseeing.
My wife splurged on my birthday and we upgraded to a corner suite. Views are awesome, room is impressive, and the hotel grounds are nice to walk (lots of stairs/hills). The pool was a nice diversion (note: COVID protocols mean they empty the pool every hour so people swim in shifts). We did Room Service both nights and it was awesome!!! Would stay again for a special occasion. Definitely sign up for the tunnel tour. Doesn't take long, and is a great historical story. PS- get the pillow service.
It’s a beautiful historical hotel and provide good service. It has been updated in these years. The only thing that I don’t like about this hotel is the left from lobby to your rooms is located in a strange corner intersection with their service route. Therefore, I always feel lost when I came down to the lobby and felt buzzard when I saw all the brown paper boxes in the corner. All in all, the food is good and the dessert is above average.
There is nothing more iconic in Taipei than the Grand Hotel. Just looking up Chung Shan North Road brings back memories of yesteryear, when slender ladies in chi paos graced the Grand Hotel's lobby. Many overseas visitors take the chance to soak up some of the atmosphere of Old China by staying in the Hotel. By the way, the Grand Hotel is famous for its restaurants.
The lobby of the Grand Hotel Taipei is so outrageously majestic you feel you're walking on to a filmset where the Emperor is arriving shortly along with his 200 courtiers. The rooms are nice, too without being stand outs. We had a terrace without chairs, probably because chairs would ruin the illusiuon of grandeur. The morning buffet was great but two days were enough at this memorable hotel since we prefer places that are more quiet and serene.
My fiancé and I stayed at the grand hotel in Taipei for our engagement and we absolutely loved it. The service was top notch and the building itself was beautiful. We felt like the emperor and empress of a Chinese Dynasty. We had a beautiful mountain view from our balcony and enjoyed waking up to it every morning.
