This isn't really a hotel, I think its more of a motel. It's best for people with no luggages as it has no lift. While its near MRT, market and 7 eleven. That's the only plus. Our driver said for the price, it might be best to stay at the ximending area instead. Room was tight for 3 person room.
Don’t be put off by the first impressions upon arrival. Entry is a little door next to the 7 eleven which is a little difficult to find but shouldn’t take too long. Rooms are very basic, but are clean. Location is great as right next to entry for subway. Staff helpful - English is limited, however so remember your basic mandarin and you’ll be fine 😊 Recommended for a budget stay in Taipei.
This hotel has been on my top list whenever I visits Taipei. Cleaniless, comfortable and convenient. These neighbourhood area is awesome too, there's cafe, traditional Market, shopping areas and restaurants.
This hotel became our home away from home while in Taipei. We stayed 6 nights when we first arrived & 3 nights before we departed the country. There are so many PROS: Location - literally 1 minute walk from Dongmen MRT station exit 1 or 2. It's off the Red line. The bus stop on Xinyl St is also just a few minutes walk away. You can get to all the major attractions from here by transit. Lovely Daan Park is 15 minute walk. CK Memorial is 10 min walk. Morning Market: Everyday, a morning market outside the hotel where you can get great local food, fruits, and other local products. 7-1ll: Conveniently located nextdoor. Yongkang St: You can walk 10 minutes to the famous street for amazing food and shopping, plus the original Din Tai Fung restaurant. Laundry: Upstairs, in the community room, there's reasonably priced washing and drying machines. Strong Wi-Fi: Reliable, fast. Friendly, English speaking staff: They answered all questions and received important mail for me. We left luggage while traveling too. We interactive with at least 4 diff staff and they were all helpful. When we returned to stay after touring the rest of Taiwan, they even put our stored luggage in our room for us. Wow, great customer service! Room & hotel facilities: Everything you need - hot shower, comfy mattress, TV with plenty of English speaking channels like CNN, HBO, Fox Movies, etc. There's filtered cold and hot water in hallway to refill bottles. Plenty of space to spread out luggage and personal items. CONS: There's no lift/elevator, but we were happy to stay on the third floor. You go up one flight of stairs to get to the reception, which is on the second floor. The third floor is right above the reception so we recommend this level to minimize stair climbing. Dongmen Hotel is excellent value for a budget traveler looking for many amenities you'd find in a more expensive hotel. When I return to Taipei, I will 100% return to this hotel.…
The room was just right for a family of 5 (all adults). A little bit of a bummer that they didn't have elevator (and we had huge luggages since we stayed for a week). Their common area - dining/living room/ laundry/"tambay" room (which is located in the top floor), has a very industrial feel to it and we loved it. But the location is very near the train station. And unlike the typical tourist hotels (usually in Shilin), this was relatively a more quiet neighborhood at night, which was great for us since we needed the peace and quiet at night. It helped a great deal that the front desk clerk understands english. We had clean sheets and towels everyday. They don't have breakfast so it helped a great deal that there's a 7eleven just beside the hotel (and we ate a legit RAMEN in a 7eleven!). About 2 blocks from the hotel is a little street that also has good food and some shops you can fancy for a little (less hassle) night walk.…
