Checking in was very easy. I can say that the room is very small and we were placed in the 17th floor, elevator can only reach 16th to we have to climb the stairs going to 17th floor. We dont stay most of the time in the hotel so we didn't make it a big deal. Breakfast buffet menu was almost the same everyday but food were okay and choices were enough. The best thing about this hotel is that it's location is very good, with an access to metro(subway train line) that is 3-5 minutes away.
Important note: Our room's toilet doesn't have a bidet which is a bummer.

The clincher is the city of Taipei. It is very beautiful and definitely will go back with more family members.

Firstly, the pluses. The hotel is steps from the MRT and across the street from the main shopping district of Ximending, with lots of restaurants nearby. Excellent location. The minuses: the room was tiny for the money. There is just a single bank of three lifts/elevators for a hotel that has upwards of 500 rooms so expect long waits at peak times. Peak time breakfast was a zoo and the selection poor. My room had some kind of cooling unit outside the window that sounded like a giant refrigerator when it kicked in during the night. A lot of noise in the hallway from inconsiderate guests too. But would I stay there again? Yes. For the location. If I couldn’t find another comparably priced hotel nearby.

My first experience at this hotel was not very good. First of all, we booked a quadruple room, but the room is not very spacious, just unfolding the suitcases takes up a lot of space. Also, the design of the bathroom is very poor, the shower water in the bathtub will splash outside the toilet, causing the toilet door to flood. There is nothing special about the rest, and the sound insulation is also common, but the advantage is that the location is superior, very close to the city center, next to Ximending. The other benefit is the breakfast are various types, and quite delicious.

First the good.... Great location, comfortable bed, nice shower. Now the bad..... every night and some days our room was filled with cigarette smoke from somewhere. We kept calling the front desk, but little or nothing was done until our last night when they sent in an ionizer. This did little for our comfort. The restaurant was mediocre at best. We left feeling that it was overpriced the food was not very good and the staff was either overwhelmed or untrained (probably both). I rarely write a review this negative as my wife and I are relatively easy to please. However, this hotel is fairly expensive and we expected much more.

The location was good, We stayed for 3 nights and changed the room twice, very lousy sound proof in the hotel, if you are a light sleeper do not book this hotel. You can hear people walking, talking along the walkway and traffic outside the street. The wifi is as good as nothing, we were told that there is only one router shared between 5-12 floor, unfortunately our room is located on the 12 floors, seriously the wifi is a scammer, if you cant even provide proper wifi please remove it from your amenities. Breakfast buffet was decent. Oh ya, there are seriously understaff, you paid for service but there is technically no service.

stayed here with my parents for a week and it was great.

Most of the KKDAY and KLOOK trips do pick up right around the corner and the train statin is just at the back of the hotel, its so easy to access.

Its also right across Ximending where all the good food are. Definitely a good place

Toilet bowl area at the bathroom should have a floor trap as water puddle cannot be cleared.
Public area at Lobby (Level L) should do periodical cleaning to maintain cleanliness. Staff are doing their jobs but lack customer service (a smile to customer would be great).

Booked for 5Days and 4Nights stay at Ximen branch. Arrived there early and was told checkout can only be done at 3PM sharp. Understood their SOP but attitude of their staffs were bad. When we did our auto check-in at 3PM, there were some issues with our booking and took us a while to get it done. Same goes for some other guests we observed. Communication was poor between staffs and customers.
Room was spacious for us which is a plus point. Even when opened up our luggage, there was still ample space to walk around.
Bath towels have stain on it and shower area was giving us a problem as the partition was 1/3 of the size of the bathtub. Must stand very close to the shower spray and abstain from turning on too high else water will splash out if water pressure is too strong.
Hangars in the wardrobe miserable 3 only. Need to hang more clothes unable to do so.
Gym at basement not properly maintained. No wipes or sanitizers there for wiping before and after use of the gym. Treadmills not working when we went there to use. Photos on the website and there using are totally different.
Breakfast was so so with not much spread.
Overall it is not the best hotel we stayed at Ximending area. We stayed at Amba before and it's way better compared to this.

Did not bother to reply emailsss;
room was terribly old & felt dirty;
lobby’s carpet is stain, dirty & the air is stale;
broken towel rack;
toilet door handle is loose;
toilet floor & bath tub are old;
shower head is ‘malfunction’;
rubbish bin is dirty & rusty;
make up room request was still not done by 7.30pm:
concierge service was not great.

The only saving grace was, it is right across ximending & above ximen mrt station.

Please avoid at all cost if you do not mind staying further away from ximending. I did not bother to take too many pictures.

We have just completed a 9 night stay at the Midtown Richardson Hotel in Taipei. We wanted to share our review.

The property is located right at Ximen MTR Station in central Taipei. This was our key reason for booking this property, its location. Ximen Station exit 5 is steps from the property’s door, making it ideal as a base to get around town and for enjoying everything Ximen has to offer. Something that we took great advantage of during our stay.

The property itself is ‘middle aged’ and shows some wear, though is well cared for by the cleaning staff. The property provides a self checkin/out process with staff available to assist those unsure how to process their self checkin. You can see that the staff are constantly helping people out which raises the question of why not just staff the checkin desk? In term of service, front desk is 'polite' very robotic and lacking in any warmth to make guests feel welcome.

The room we booked was tidy and have comfortable beds and pillows. It was also well appointed including spacious bathroom with both soaking tub and shower option. The internet connection within the property was very disappointing though. You’d think with Taiwan being a technological hub in Asia that reliable, fast wifi would be a given.

We had also selected the property for its advertised fitness facility and for providing daily breakfast for its guests. The daily breakfast was buffet style and did hit the spot though with no real variety from day to day. You also had to deal with the crowd. It was difficult finding a table and there were always long lines for certain items such as coffee and toast. We found the whole experience frustrating and stressful and in the end decided to have breakfast somewhere else. However we are not sure if it had anything to do with our stay coinciding with Chinese New Year.

The fitness facility though was another disappointment. The gym is located in the basement and is equipped with antiquated / minimalistic strength training equipment. The cardio equipment seems to be the primary purpose of the facility, though with no view or TVs it makes intense cardio training quite mundane. Luckily, there are a few affordable gyms within easy walking distance from the property should you wish to maintain your fitness routine.

Overall, we had mixed feelings about our stay here.
