We stayed here over the New years eve weekend and our experience was honestly mixed bag. Location: Very good. Walking distance from SOGO Department store and near to MRT line. Check in: We stood in line for almost 1 hour only to be told that our check in was on 13th Floor. This wasn't a good experience to begin with. Having said that, once we were in the Rosewood lounge, check in was super smooth. Maggie was so cordial and efficient. Room quality: Good size. We were in the rosewood suites. I believe the other rooms are small in size. House keeping: Very uneven. Our shampoos, shower gels, coffee pods weren't even replenished, empty pizza box and wine glasses not even removed from bedside. When I approached the house keeping attendant, he had a blank expression on his face. We were checked into 3 same suites and we found out that even facilities weren't same such as nespresso coffee machine was missing in other rooms, mini bar was empty in theirs and our room missed pieces of furniture. Breakfast: Whilst the options for vegetarians were arranged and we were very thankful to the hotel for that, we did feel that their times were an problem. On 1 day, breakfast closed at 10 AM and on other at 10:30 AM, we just didn't know what to make of it. Front desk: Again, this was a mixed experience. From some people going out of their way to help to some telling us I cannot help you, we found it very strange. Concierge: Probably the best part of out stay. From arranging Wheel chair for my mother to helping her every time to calling us us taxis to just greeting and smiling everytime, they were a delight.…
Reception counter lady staff was unkind . Porter there was kind and courteous. Breakfast a lot of varieties. Room are clean but this Hotel provide twice a day room cleaning service . I was shocked on one of the night as the bed was in a mess when I was out but bed was arranged when I returned . So after checking out with the counter they said that they have 2 times a day room cleaning service but I was not inform when I check in the hotel . After confront with an old cleaning aunty , she was rude and impolite . Luckily nothing was missing/lost on this night .
The hotel has a negative pressure indoor smoking room, but guests are allowed to stand outside and smoke in the cold wind. The reason is the epidemic, but the hotel restaurant does not have air extraction equipment. Hundreds of people are chatting there without masks or partitions. There is no epidemic consideration. , I don't understand what the logic is? It is recommended that smokers go to a place with better service at the same price. The Howard Hotel is very unfriendly to smokers.
Good overall despite some real issues. There was a 35 minute wait in a long line to check in, which was there from at least 3:30 when I arrived, until at least 8:00 when I came back from dinner. It was a long weekend, but check-in facilities should match room capacity. While checking me in, Eric pulled down his mask to wipe his nose on the back of his hand. This would be shocking even without the pandemic. Less importantly, the carpet in my room was covered in stains. There was no power outlet near the bed. Loud bumping noises could be heard through the walls every couple of hours, often waking me throughout the night. Housekeeping didn’t come until I called them at 3:30. The five floors of shops are 95% no name old ladies clothing. Some things were excellent. I tried two of the three breakfast buffets and they were awesome, with probably 10-15 really high quality meat and fish options (although nothing for vegans). The location is good, with bus stops right outside and MRT stations nearby, and countless shopping and dining options within a 20 minute walk. The gym is pretty good, but I wish it opened before 6:30. The chocolate macaroons from the bakery are amazing! Overall, it’s a very good hotel and I would stay here again, but I hope they speed up the check-in process and also improve service standards at check-in and check-out.…
Perfect location. On the 1960 bus line from the airport. Very proper staff. Big rooms, fancy baths with bidet toilets. Very large facility. Decor is dated with heavy red velvet colors, but very clean. Lots of food spots nearby.
Last time I stayed here was 20 yrs ago. It has been well maintained and the staff are just great. What it lacks however is to move with the times: these days business travellers need to charge mobile phones, tablets n laptops. And this is where the Howard Plaza sadly fails: there is only almost hidden power point near the desk, but there is NOTHING at the bedside cabinets - nothing. Sorry - but this is totally unacceptable - even the smaller hotels we stayed at in the south of Taiwan are more up-to-date.
I stayed here while in Taipei for business and found the Howard nicely situated and very attentive to my needs. The staff is helpful and friendly, several of us arranged for a car from the Howard to be at our disposal all day on a free day which proved way more convenient than a cab and quite inexpensive. There are multiple restaurant options, a nice bar and actual shops on the first several floors. The breakfast is a mix of western and Asian buffet so there is plenty to choose from, you certainly won’t go hungry. I would have given this a excellent, but the bed was so hard I had trouble sleeping and woke up in pain every morning. If you like a harder bed you will be happy, if you need a softer bed this will be a challenge - althoughI am told that the bed is standard for Taiwan. The hotel is also nicely situated for seeing many of the sights, I was able to walk to most of what was on my list to see, and the rest were a short drive away. Overall I would recommend the Howard.…
Not one of the flashiest, newest hotels, the Howard Plaza is consistently good, especially if you pay for the Rosewood Club which offers and good, simple breakfast in a small setting, away from the larger, public buffet. I recommend a suite, which is large, perhaps a little dated, but very comfortable with classic rosewood wood furniture. Helpful staff, and a good bar on the first floor. Gym is okay too.
stayed as part of a conducted tour room was large wifi bath and shower many restaurants reception good had to carry own luggage did not know how to work all switches etc sadly could hear television in room next door safe was good easy to use electric European style toilet very good ice to room good wine selection poor and house wine $13 glass . Yep OK but check around
Walking into the hotel shows that the hotel is of age but once you head into their rooms you can find that it is very clean and comfortable. I stayed here twice for the Taipei food show. Always sleep well in this hotel and it's not far from the train station.
