Got a private room here which was fine. Very clean. Nice room. But that's it. The breakfast was a ticket to a sandwich shop down the street. So basic. They also made you collect new tickets every day and refused to give them more than 1 day in advance. Absolutely worthless. I chose this place because I was solo traveling and I wanted to see if I could meet other travelers. That didnt happen as the communal spots are few and far between, so no one is ever in there. On top of that, something went wrong with my hotel key and I was locked out of my room late at night when I was trying to go to bed. It took them 30 minutes to get my door open. You can find cheaper hotels just as nice. Not recommended.
This was one neat clean and well located hotel in the city. Breakfast was average . Overall staff professional but cold . Serivices good. The nearby eating places shopping stores and shops excellent . Some happy people and limited traffic. Nice greenery.
Stayed here after my climb. Only for a night but it is located near subway and easy to find. There are many small local eateries around as well as big malls and supermarkets. Convenient to get to airport as well as there's direct airport express bus just nearby. Downside though is the shared bathrooms are meant for both males & females. Located between a female & male dormitory. However, it also offers normal hotel style rooms as well as small dorm for 4 which is nice for families. The lounge/common areas allows one to wash or keep stuff as well as affordable breakfast. Dormitory upper deck bed access through proper staircases built next to the beds unlike those bunk bed stairs.
We were here for 1 night in the first day in Taipei. The hotel is situated near the MRT station and fortunately it is not far from Sogo department store, so we could go to have something to eat very easy. They allowed us to check in at 3.00 pm. The room was big, beautiful, and clean. The toilet with the electronic flushing machine is really good. I really like this flushing matchine!!!! (It looked like I am in Tokyo city). Breakfast is OK. One thing that I did not like is the smoking smell in the room. The hotel said that this is none smoking room ( and also have the sign of smoking room too). But there are the smoking smell!!! The hotel staff is OK, some staff can speak English, but some staff could not speak English. I think this hotel is in very good area and the room is nice and they has breakfast. …
I was there with my wife in a double room. Now don't get me wrong, the room was confortable and clean, and the personnel very nice and friendly (even if their English could have been a little better). What we really disliked though was more than a single thing. Every morning we'd wake up to the sewage stink coming from our bathroom, where the sink had cold water just for one day (hot water was usable though). I was puzzled by the presence of a multi-function toilet (whose functions we couldn't really use, being everything written in Chinese) in a bathroom, whose corner were black with mold. The walls were incredibly thin and we could hear every Skype call from the people around us, when they got into their room at night, when they showered, etc. Last but not the least a "traditional Taiwanese breakfast" was included in the price we paid. Well... Every morning there was a note in the "dining room" stating that "only for this day" they didn't have a lot of choice to offer. There were rice, peanuts, eggs and toasts... And that was it. Eventually we had to have breakfast each day somewhere else.…
Great location, right in the middle of Taipei City. Ten mins walk from MRT station, making it a great choice for business trips. Rooms are well managed and bathroom is awesome. Although streets of the surrounding area may seem a little messy and unclean, it is not at all inside. High cost-performance ratio.
Booked a private room with ensuite which is furnished like a 4-5 star hotel, includes tea/coffee/cereal/cold mini fridge, proper blackout drapes, great shower and fancy auto toilet. It's a small room but smart design makes it no less comfortable than if you had a much larger room. Common use areas had a water dispenser/cooler, clean toilets (in case your room's is occupied!), laundry area, vending machine for cheap soap and snacks/instant noodles, kitchen area and quiet hang-out space with large windows. It wasn't hard to find. Coming out of Chung Xiao Fuxing station exit where the mall is, walk past the block where Kao Chi and the awesome Taiwanese buffet restaurant is, cross the road to the tall circular building, past a cosmetician's. If you enter the dark marble lift lobby, just take the lift up 4 floors and you are whisked into a world of luxury. Do not be fooled by the shabby ground floor lift lobby. Check-in/out was easy, they had no problems watching your luggage for you without cost if you checked-in too early/post check-out. The only downside was I had a very inconsiderate guest from China (yes, I can recognize their accent so I'm not discriminating) who came banging and shouting on my neighbour's room door and repeatedly pressing the doorbell at 5am and 5.30am on 2 mornings for a good 2 mins. Unfortunately the front desk could do nothing about it. Also, this means your neighbour's door bell will also wake you up. (Unless the idiot had pressed our room bell instead of his friends; I have no idea). I have no hesitation to return despite that. Room entrances are very private as they are set further in from the corridor 2 by 2, so no corridor noise! (An issue even in the best of hotels sometimes). Do try the Taiwanese buffet restaurant next door with free-flow beer, 30 branded ice-creams, meats, veggies, soups! Such good value for money and they go until very late at night. The Zhung Xiao Fuxing mall itself just 3-4 mins walk away had an excellent bakery and the ever-popular Din Tai Fung, pastries galore and good value Unagi bento. There's also a super popular roadside stall that you can see from the hang-out space windows; and a Japanese eatery just opposite the building. I had an excellent & cheap private taxi driver who does day and multi-day trips so if anyone needs one (who can speak mandarin), PM me. He is caring, knowledgeable and trustworthy!…
Book a dorm bed at last minutes and I love it until the very last day at Taipei. 3-min walk from EXIT 2 of Zhongxiao Fuxing MRT station. Good price, comfy and clean dorm bed, modern furniture, lovely common area. Can either use the bathroom inside your dorm or the shared 6-cubicle bathroom. The receptionists are responsive and helpful though they speak English not that well. Overall it's quieter than other hostel's atmosphere but that's what I prefer. The hostel offer no towels or toothbrush for backpackers however. You can buy easily at nearby 7-Eleven though, not a big deal.
It was slightly more difficult to find the lift to the hotel if you do not enter from the main entrance. However, it was still a short walk from the metro and I liked the close proximity to the malls. Stayed with a friend at Amici Hotel in a standard double room. Check-in was smooth and quick. There were basic amenities provided and the room was clean. We could not explain the cigarette smell when we first entered the room though. Our room did not have any windows, not too sure about other rooms. It was a comfortable stay overall.
I think the staff didn't remind all the guests "Be Quiet" & "Do not talk in the bedrooms", so that in morning, it is SO noisy because every guest who is going to check out is talking and packing. Moreover, there are ppl who keep the door open, and there are still guests sleeping in the room! That is unbearable. Why you Staff didn't remind every guest of the rules of the share house? I will never stay at this hotel again.
