Me and 12 friends travelled from the Isle of Man to spend New year here. We were greeted with a very warm welcome from Grace and Sorrelle who were very hospitable through out our stay. The castle itself was amazing! Plenty of beds for us all which were very comfortable. I wouldn't be comfortable in the bedrooms if we were...

Spent last weekend in Ballaghmore celebrating my fiancees 30th birthday with 20 of our friends. The entire group had what can only be described as an amazing experience. This is the real rustic castle experience which was a breath of fresh air from the standard hotel experience. The bedroom areas are very clean and warm.Everyone was immediately relaxed and settled...

Ballaghmore was exactly what we were looking for - a real castle that someone has NOT stripped down and morphed into a modern day hotel. We wanted a true, rustic castle experience (with plumbing and working electricity) and that is exactly what this place delivered. Everything is on a large medieval scale -- enormous dining and great halls with high...

Recently returned from a 3 day stag do that was held in the castle - had a great time in a truly unique setting. There were 12 of us and we were made to feel very welcome by Grace, the owner. I have to stay we didn't see any bats nor mice but wouldn't really have minded as it is...

Large group booking. All squashed into 2 rooms!!!!! Shared with mice, bats , spiders. Not a clean place. Damp. Minimal cooking facilities. Plenty of storage. One only functioning bathroom. Instructed not to flush often . !!! Owner eventually let us use her bathroom !!!! Avoid ballaghmore castle. Fire hazard as only one stairwell in and out.

Ballaghmore Castle was a true adventure and a wonderful step back in time. By day, the castle offered such a phenomenal taste of what life was once like. The roaring fire in the dining hall, the steep spiral stairs, stone walls ... amazing! By night ... the charm faded somewhat. All adults sharing one open sleeping space was a bit...

In 25 years no one has ever seen a mouse, ghost etc! The teenagers seem to have had a wonderful time .. we have recovered a wealth of arrows in the grounds including one from the roof of the castle .. no mean feat boys! (if you would like us to return them to you we will be happy to)....

Have you ever dreamed of experiencing life in a Mediaeval Irish castle in all its glory? Surrounded by horses, musicians, dogs, feasting, artists and wonderful thought-provoking stimulating conversation? If this is you then you must stay at Ballaghmore Castle. This is not a hotel, but a way of life. Not, perhaps, for tourists who like the sanitised cleanliness and ersatz...

As a Fitzpatrick descendant I looked forward to visiting the area of my ancestors. It was not a disappointment. We had a delightful and enlightening visit. We slept well, had delicious breakfasts and our host, Grace, was very knowledgeable about the history of the area. It was a delightful visit.

I stopped by the castle to enquire about bringing tourist groups to tour the castle, as I am involved in the tourism industry. When I arrived the owner was not at home so I waited. Within a few minutes she arrived back and without any apparent reason and before i could explain my reason for being there she launched a...

Three families together stayed a week at Ballaghmore and it was a high point of my life, seriously. Grace and her family could not have been more hospitable and the castle is amazing. It's very simple but quite adequate in the amenities, as they wanted to keep it as quaint and historic as possible. The grounds are beautiful. Loved it!
