I went to stay there for bed and breakfast with a friend. The single rooms were readily available at a good, cheap, discount, non-refundable price. I was very happy with the hotel, service and food. I would definitely go there again.
room allocated at first the indian room not cleaned properly. dirty glasses, empty pastic water bottle on desk, no blind in bathroom, lumpy quilts, floor not hoovered, second one not much better. towels not changed after putting them in bath to be changed, just hung back on rail again. bin not emptied glasses not washed, and sanituary towel strip found down side of bed.! dust, fluff , and dirt behind headboards, breakfast was shambles, kept being brought wrong breakfasts. staff not professional . car park charges rip off as in hotel carpark, not secure as barrier was up all weekend. terrible hotel. wont go near it again.
When I made the booking for lunch I checked the menu on line which looked like sandwiches etc. However when we arrived we were made very welcome and presented with an excellent menu. The food was excellent and the service first class. Definitely a great place to visit.
Christmas present from my mum. Absolutely lovely weekend. Loved the hotel, so much character. Room was really nice, had a lovely bath. Breakfast this morning was spot on, plenty of choice with lovely & tasty ingredients. Not an issue for us but the only thing we did notice was no tables numbers so waiters getting mixed up with peoples hot orders, but as I say we loved every minute. Receptionists we’re so welcoming & friendly. Would definitely stay again, great location, parked my car in hotel car park for £7.50, walked into York, took about 20/30 minutes. Lovely day in the centre, shopping & had dinner & tea, then got a taxi back only cost £7.50. Thank you for a wonderful stay xx
We stayed here this weekend with friends, the rooms were clean, comfortable and warm ( well needed with temperature of -3 and freezing fog!) We were in deluxe king rooms, the showers were amazing! It’s not often you get such amazing pressure in an hotel! The wi if was great too. The breakfast this morning was well presented and very tasty. I’m sure we’ll be back!
Wonderful breakfast with an abundance of choice. Staff are all very kind and helpful. We decided to eat our main meal at the hotel, but it does not live up to their breakfasts! It was OK, but over priced and very, very little choice. Overall a good hotel that we would frequent again.
Stayed three nights, on our arrival the receptionist was very welcoming. We were offered room 41, on entering the room unfortunately the bed was not acceptable, the mattress had no support and appeared extremely old. The receptionist was very kind offering us other rooms to look at, we did find a room with a slightly better bed, unfortunately this room was very small and not the queen deluxe we had paid for. The hotel is in a lovely setting, and easy access to York. The breakfast is freshly cooked to order, offering a buffet style continental breakfast as well. All the staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. The hotel charges £7.50 a day now for parking, we were advised this is a new addition. The bar area is welcoming and you can relax in the lounge, unfortunately we couldn’t eat in the restaurant as the flooring was being sanded, however full meals were offered in the bar area, we did not eat an evening meal at the hotel, so I am unable to comment. The hotel was clean and rooms were serviced daily and tea trays replenished. I have rated the hotel with three stars, due to tiredness of some of the decor, flooring in the bedrooms and bathroom, especially including poor mattresses/ beds in the rooms that we were shown. On our departure the receptionist was attentive and asked for our feedback to enable the proprietor to be made aware of any areas that could be improved upon.…
Nice hotel and lovely staff. Generally overpriced though for both room and food although on the plus side the hotel couldn’t have been better situated for getting into York with a bus running every 10 minutes right outside
Room was basic but done the job, tea was nice however a few issues caused by the waiter. 1. Asked for some water… forgot to bring. 2. Asked for a side of chips… forgot to bring 3. Asked for some mayonnaise…. Forgot to bring 4. Reviewed the bill and the chips had been removed which is great, however I was charged £2 more as the waiter believed it was an 8 but it was in fact a 6 so pretty much paid for the chips anyways. Lovely guy, just a bit disappointed.
Stayed here for two nights in January 2023. Booked a double room and was pleasantly surprised how spacious the room was. A large king/queen double bed (always get these muddled) greated you as you entered the room. Lots of wardrobe space, dressing table with mirror and chair. Place to store your suitcase. TV with remote, hairdryer, tea tray with kettle, coffee, proper Yorkshire tea bags, milk, sugar, and some biscuits. There was an outside door with a view of the garden. I'm sure in warmer weather you could sit out on the veranda. Heavy curtains allow for a nice darkened room at night. Plenty of lighting, plug points, and fully working fast WIFI. Large on suite with bath and shower. Lovely large shower head with plenty of hot flowing water. Our room was room 40, which was upstairs. There is a restaurant on site as well as a bar area. Car park provided at £7.50 a day. If you want breakfast, it is an additional cost of £10 only if you book it when making your booking, otherwise its £14.95. Fulford is not very far from York, and there is an excellent bus service running every 10 minutes outside the door. Reception staff were warm, inviting, and attentive. I am sure if there was anything else you needed, they would be more than happy to help. …
