Fantastic hotel, excellent service and standards. Breakfast is amazing and there is always so much choice! You can even order food from the kitchen at no extra cost, including porridge with different toppings and choices of egg. We really enjoyed our stay here and highly recommend a visit. We will be returning!
Firstly, my inerson booking hadnt worked, so I had to book on the day, thankfully they had a room (for £50 extra). Then the room, nice but about 10C too warm. Room service - tiny piece of fish and frozen chips. Billed as 'skin on fries'. NOT. Have just ordered cheese to fell me up. for this money, I'm disappointed. ashamed actually. Its a great location and they are taking the mickey.
“Have stayed at the Clayton many times before and back again this week, the hotel and the staff are excellent as always. After a long day, the bar looked after us for late drinks, breakfast was excellent and plenty of choice well worth the £17, a huge selection of items and help yourself to as much as you want. Looking forward to going back again soon!”
Each time I visit this hotel I am left disappointed. This time the hotel room was freezing cold. I called down twice to ask for the heating to be be fixed yet no one came to my room and the heating came on on the evening as I was leaving- not conducive to me working in my room all day. The wardrobe light was not working nor was there a bulb in the desk light. Why has no one reported this? The saga when paying for my meal was incredibly embarrassing- as someone that travels internationally it’s laughable that when you try to pay for a meal with your room key you are told you don’t have enough credit! A swipe is taken from your card and yet on day two I was forced to go to my room and get my payment card despite being a regular visitor. It ruined an otherwise great evening. No one seemed to care at the bar or reception about the chaos and poor treatment of its guests. The quality of food in the restaurant continues to go downhill- Luke warm food and low quality ingredients. The staff in the bar are often slow to take your order to the point I give up and order at the bar. There seems to be a disconnect in terms of service of customers that are staying in the hotel and we are all treated as though we are about to leave without paying! No one smiles or chats it’s like they all hate their jobs. This hotel could be (and should be) a first class experience but is woefully lacking, maybe it’s training that’s needed or they feel they don’t need to work so hard because it’s guaranteed to be filled by QVC presenters but next time I will be going back to Premier Inn at least there they remember my name, have the heating and lighting working in my room, offer a decent and hot meal at half the price and don’t treat me like a potential criminal.…
I have stayed at the Clayton several times and as far as this type of hotel is concerned. It is a comfortable and pleasant hotel to stay at. The staff are friendly and the rooms are functional. However, my experience rocketed x 10-fold at breakfast this morning. A lady named Geveena showed me to my table and told me where I could find the different items on the menu. She then came back to me several times asking if I needed anything. She said that if I wanted a top-up of coffee or juice to call her and she would get it for me. Well, I did want a top-up but thought there was no need to ask her to do what I could easily do myself, so I did. A little while later Geveena came back to my table and asked if I would like any more food, I declined as I’d had enough, and in a very sweet way, she reminded me that I should have called her to top up my coffee. I stay in hotels on business a lot and it is quite rare to receive such sincere and genuine customer service on this level. Thank you Geveena, you made my breakfast time a great one. …
I recently stayed in the Clayton hotel for one night on a business trip. I received a warm welcome at the reception desk and was readily assisted with a request for directions to nearby shops. My room was immaculate, modern and the bed was very comfortable. I had dinner with friends in the Globe Bar where the staff were friendly and attentive, I had a veggie Noodle Bowl which was tasty and a huge portion. In the morning, I had breakfast in the Grill which did not disappoint - the host/waitress who welcomed me could not have been more helpful, taking time to show me how to work the coffee machine and explain the buffet. There was a fabulous selection of choice and although I opted for a continental breakfast, the hot buffet looked and smelt delicious! I observed the staff interacting with guests and it really did feel like a home from home. Every part of the hotel I visited was stylish and well maintained. I would highly recommend and will definitely be back!…
The rooms here very spacious and amazingly comfortable bed. Nicely decorated and loved the shower. There is ample on site parking too. Friendly and helpful reception staff. The restaurant lacks a bit of atmosphere and food is a bit disappointing. My burger lacked flavour.
No hot water in the shower. Rang reception and no one answered. Had to wash in the sink. Not good when you have business meetings all that day. Mentioned the problem to reception and got the standard answer’ ok, I’ll get maintenance on it soon’. That’s great for the next person, absolutely no good for me. I’m still appalled 3 days us later.
This hotel is close to a Tube station and has a decent price/quality ratio. It is 45 minutes from central London by the District line so ideal for those that want to visit London and have more time than money to spend. Sufficiently spacious rooms. International staff that is very helpful. Good breakfast service, choice and taste. They also have a simple restaurant service, which I haven't tried. Bathroom with a bath and a separate shower. Large, but with yellow tiles and not the best light for shaving. Two light bulbs were broken and after I informed the reception they were fixed though the technician left all lights on in the room to 'prove' that they had fixed it. Not very energy conscious. Quick online check-in and check-out (though I still need to receive the invoice). For some reason I couldn't charge bar tickets on my room. Must have had to do something with the automatic check-in procedure.…
The stay was great, the rooms are extremely spacious for being in london at a good price. The staff were extremely kind and helpful, and while being on the outskirts of London they offer taxi services and are close to the tube. No issues with the room and they offer plenty of vegan/vegetarian food. The fries are amazing as well. Only complaint was that the entire time we stayed here, there happened to be this whining sound going on about every 10-15mins. Sounded like the sound of chairs being moved or a dying whale.
