We opted for an apartment with a bathroom, these are highly recommended. The apartments has wardrobe space (a rarity in Japan) a fully fitted kitchen, small sitting area and a bathroom. the location is excellent for exploring, being situated within a short walk of 3 metro lines, and the JR mainline station. There are plenty of options for food nearby and in the station complexes, together with a convenience store on next to the entrance. The welcome night was a very nice touch, as was the breakfast. Our luggage hadn't made it with us, but the staff arranged for early check in so we could freshen up and also chased the luggage up for us.

A very short walk from Tokyo Station, the Oakwood really impressed us with its hospitality and convenience. The Oakwood was one of the very few hotels on our trip whose response to our arrival before check-in time was not “Come back later”. Instead, reception staff checked on room availability and handed over the key there and then. Thereafter, reception staff politely greeted us each time we passed through reception.

Our room (the cheapest available type) was a good size by Tokyo standards and felt like a relaxing haven from the bustle of the nearby station. The whole hotel felt fairly new.

Breakfast was a really pleasant surprise. The breakfast room (which serves as the bar in the evening) is bright, open and relaxed. Breakfast included a wide variety of tasty options that set us up for the day.

Before arriving, I had some concerns that the Oakwood’s focus on longer term stays might make it a less welcoming place for transients like us. That was certainly not the case and the Oakwood was amongst the best of the conventional hotels that hosted us in Japan.

Families traveling with young children know how valuable a full kitchen and easy access to laundry are.

Oakwood Premier apartments are luxuriously appointed with extremely helpful staff who speak excellent English. It is very spacious by any world hotel standards for a hotel in the center of a major metropolitan city. While it lacks on-site restaurant and room service, it does offer breakfast. It is literally next door to Tokyo Station where everything you need is available, and there is Lawson convenience store on the ground floor of the building. We picked up water and some snack for our first night and then went to Tokyo Station to do real shopping, including ingredients to make pasta for kids and fresh sashimi and sushi for adults. (Kid was feeling homesick and wanted their favorite pasta dish that we make at home. I was able to find everything I would buy in the U.S. including kraft Parmesan cheese (no judgment please… getting a tired and jet lagged kid to eat unfamiliar food is not easy)

Beds are very comfortable. Shower pressure is excellent. The linen is ok. Not the most luxurious kind but we have had worse ones in other hotels. No complaint on beds. We slept well.

The closet door in the room is a giant floor to ceiling mirror that reflects the bed. It may bother some kids. I always travel with a painter’s tape and ended up taping my shawl on the mirror so that kid felt more comfortable.

The room darkening curtains work well but a bit of light seeps through from the top as there is no valance and the curtain is not 100% flush with the ceiling. For most sleepers, this should not be an issue.

The location is very convenient for shopping and transportation, especially if you will stay in Tokyo for a short period of time before you head to another region in Japan. It is also easy to access trains to major points of interest in Tokyo but Tokyo Station area itself isn’t the most interesting area.

We usually stay in Tokyo for about 3-4 days before we take the Shinkansen, so we try to stay at Tokyo or Ueno stations for easy access to Shinkansen. We used to stay at Shangri La, Mandarin Oriental or similar hotels. Oakwood premiere is much more comfortable and convenient and we are so happy to have found this place. We will defiantly stay for our next visit.

If your primary interest in Tokyo is on the western side (Shibuya, Harajuku, Shinjuku, Ikebukuro and further out Studio Ghibli museum and Harry Potter studio tour), it does take time to get to the western side by train. It’s about 20-30 min trip to Shibuya.

I was skeptical about how Oakwood could have a higher rating than Shangri-La next door but after staying here I completely understand. First, the price, while not cheap, is significantly more affordable than the luxury hotels nearby, and you're giving nothing up in terms of location. Then, you've got a much larger room, with all the amenities of an apartment including a washing machine, a full-sized fridge & a kitchen. Even if you're not intending to cook (I didn't), to have a couch/table and kitchen to eat all those delicious meals you're buying from Daimaru is unbeatable.

Oakwood is generally a serviced apartment brand, so not all their locations offer stays as short as one night, particularly if you consider how much more post-stay cleaning is involved. You should definitely give this place a try. You'll be pleasantly surprised how much brighter and cleaner the rooms feel versus traditionally darker/sophisticated luxury hotel rooms.

We stayed for 9 days and loved this location. It is a boutique hotel so you quickly get to know the staff and it feels 'homey'. One staff member in particular named Kozue stood out and made our visit so much better with her pleasantries and advice and she even humored my feeble attempts at speaking Japanese.
I selected this location for the size kitchen and closets as well as location. The amount of space that you get is unusual for Tokyo. The suites are larger than most apartments. The breakfast in the morning was phenomenal with a wide variety of western and Japanese fare and the breakfast location overlooking the bustling street from the floor to ceiling windows was incredible and such a great view to start each day with. The location could not be better. Convenient via Tokyo station to everything and so much walkable nearby. I recommend this hotel for US residents who are used to more spacious accommodations and it will be where I stay on my future visits to Tokyo. I hesitated to spend this much initially when booking but i am glad that I did!

Reasonably sized room, which is well equipped and furnished to a high standard. All amenities are well considered, (Appelle bath gels etc), and the room is well equipped with fridge, freezer, glassware, crockery and cutlery. It is a well run property with professional staff. Good location, next to Tokyo station, Daimaru, and a Lawsons on the ground floor.

Right at Tokyo station you can rent this apartments or use them as hotel rooms for your stay. Convenient place, just next or above huge shopping mall and well connected to pretty much anywhere you want to go. It feels very clean and modern, and there is access to a very nice gym. The breakfast buffet is average or possibly less then average in terms of selection. Probably this is due to the low volume of guests? On the other hand the dining area is nice and the staff there is very friendly. The staff at the reception was not at the top. First the room was not ready, then, as I just arrived from overseas and needed to freshen up to go to meetings, „only an upgraded room at extra expense“ was made available.

An excellent serviced apartment style hotel, with a lobby lounge serving delicious morning breakfast. Walking proximity to Tokyo station a definite plus !
Booked the Executive one bedroom apartment. Very well furnished and extremely large, with all amenities including a fully setup kitchen and a washer dryer in the bathroom. Spotless general areas.
What makes this hotel special is obviously the people. The reception desk is staffed by energetic individuals always there to help.
The lobby lounge is where my business partner and I spent most of our time working. I would like to thank Chihiro who introduced us to Sparkling sake and took the time to engage with us in some good banter.
Also would like to thank Kana who was always on hand to make sure we were well taken care of.
Will definitely be recommending this lovely hotel to fellow travellers.

The room was clean and comfortable. The location by Tokyo station is superb and very convenient to get a taxi. It is obvious from the behavior of the staff that the hotel is focusing so much on security. Sometimes even to the point to make visitors for the hotel guest uncomfortable.
