What an awesome hotel/sta! I just got back from a 9 day stay with my 21 year old son. Everything at the hotel was perfect for what we needed. I would agree with many reviews that the hotel would not be ideal for a family with young kids, but for what we were looking for, it was ideal. The hotel is in the middle of bustling Shinjuku and there must be 200 restaurants within short walking distance of the hotel. There are a number of train stations within a 5-10 walk depending on the station needed. We wanted a little more SF than typical since my son and I were sharing the room for an extended period, so we booked the artist designed “styrofoam” room. The room was awesome. The only issue I have with the room is there isn’t a good spot to sit down and face out at the amazing view from the room. The room was on the northwest corner of the 33rd floor and has a view of Mt Fuji on one end, and the Tokyo Sky Tree on the other. It’s not real clear on the website, but this specific room does include a washer and dryer in the unit. I wish I’d known as I would have packed a little lighter. This hotel was highly recommended by a friend, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to stay in Tokyo. Also, as a side note from a straight hotel review… if you are like I was and have some reservations about going to Tokyo, don’t hesitate, you won’t regret it!

Getting there

Getting to the hotel from narita airport, you can take the keisei skyliner to change at Nippori at the Yamamote line to change and stop at Takanobaba and change to another train Seibu Shinjuku station. It will be a few minutes walk to the hotel from there. Very convenient.

To go back to the airport, book yourself an express bus directly at the lobby entrance (QR code is there) with a screen on the departure timing to various airports so you don’t have to lug your luggage.

Stay
Luxurious hotel right smack in the middle of all the action, eateries, shopping, etc. I stayed for 7 nights at the premier suite which I believe had one of the best views around this area. Room is spacious for Japanese standards. And the 2 toilets and 2 bath is something we really appreciate.

Amenities are all given, and you have everything in the room, including a Marshall Bluetooth speaker.

Staff are friendly and eager to help during check in etc. I did not have much chance to interact with them since I also did not book one with breakfast.

One tip is the enter the hotel through Starbucks directly downstairs, instead of going one round to enter the lobby. Just cut through Starbucks and go down the stairs immediately and make a left turn to the lobby.

Afterthoughts
Good and new hotel in an excellent location.

Some things will need to be improved, out of the 7 nights, I only request for rooms to be cleared twice. The first time, housekeeping forgot to refill my towels after removing them, forgot to refill our drinking waters and even left a dirty tshirt in my toilet that don’t belong to me. I believe that could be used by them to clean the toilet, else no reasons someone’s dirty tshirt is found and left in my toilet. Should have definitely used a cleaner rag to clean up the toilet. I did not crate a fuss about it but just took the tshirt out of the room since it is a new hotel that just opened for one week and all staff are new too. But this should not happen next time again, especially since this is a suite booking.

P/S check out Ichiran 3 mins walk away and the 24 hours Don Quixote too.

We booked the Premiere Twin on the 36th floor with absolute breathtaking views of the city. Watching the sunrise each morning and the night lights each evening was awesome.

Specific to the room we found:
A fantastic shower with handheld and an excellent, deep soaking tub. The water pressure was AmAzInG! Toilet had its own room with the bidet features. The amenities were made of wood (toothbrush & comb). It is spacious and quiet too. Truly the best WiFi I’ve ever experienced in a hotel anywhere. Bedding was incredibly comfortable.

The hotel has the most responsive elevators. The front desk team was professional and I was happy to see diversity among them. The common areas are kept clean and sparse to ensure the view from the 18th floor lobby is unobstructed.

The hotel buffet breakfast is great, especially the espresso, fresh fruit, baked goods, Japanese items, pizza and gelato. The servers were delightful and efficient.

We were so close to the red light Kabukicho district yet we could walk to Isaten, the most fabulous department store with a rooftop garden and endless gourmet food vendors. The neighborhood is full of young people enjoying the night life. And then, oddly, there would be Moms with their strollers walking in front of the hostess bars.

The hotel is very close to the train station, but we took a taxi for 800 yen. The hotel also hosts the bus line that takes you to Haneda airport. It could not be more convenient!

Ultra-modern hotel in the middle of all the action of Shinjuku. The area immediately surrounding the hotel is a bit sleazy, but not at all dangerous. Folks recommend entering the restaurant for the first time via the Starbucks and I do NOT agree with that. When you enter for the first time look for the passage just to the right of the entrance to Starbucks. You'll take the elevator there to the 18th floor lobby. When you come and go from this hotel it's a much more pleasant experience to enter/exit from the side of the Prince Hotel.

There is no real lobby at this hotel and little to no public spaces.

Our standard room was quite small, but well designed with floor to ceiling windows that made the room feel larger than it was.

A big plus is the limousine bus to both airports that stops literally below the hotel at the foot of the tower.

Breakfast was every good, but the organization of the meal was poor. We encountered long waiting lines several times. This could be solved by opening the dining room from 6am rather than 7am. Also, the hotel could ask guests to choose a time slot for their breakfast in advance as other hotels in Japan did.

I really enjoyed my 5 nights at The Groove. I was part of a small group of golfers and it was an ideal location for us. It was right in the middle of the Kabukicho district, though as the hotel goes between the 17-38th floor there was no street noise. I had a deluxe room and it was well designed and comfortable. If there had been two in the room it may have been a bit tight. I thought the breakfast offering was expensive for what it was but there were not too many other places to go in the area. The laundry on the 20th floor has five machines that all do a wash and dry or wash only. You can monitor them from the TV in your room. All in all, I’d definitely stay here again.

Hotel Groove is a very nice hotel with a very beautiful view outside of the Shinjuku skyline. It is located near a lot of establishments and attractions which you can reach just by walking. The staff with different nationalities are friendly and accommodating and can communicate in English. The hotel has an artsy and futuristic vibe. A robot delivered our request for an extra towel in our room which surprised us and made our kids happy. Hotel Groove provides an experience different from your usual hotel accommodation. It was definitely a worthwhile stay. We hope to have another opportunity to visit and stay in Hotel Groove in the future.

It is a room (37th floor) with a great view of shinjuku, with top to bottom windows. It would be better to install a cupboard for clothes instead just a cupboard with exposed hanger. But, it is in a great location, Starbucks was a daily fix and walk to the stations was only 5-10mins away. There are many restaurants to eat around the hotel.
Also, the airport limousines bus drops off exactly the ground floor of the building.

Very expensive for a boutique style hotel with basic service and amenities. Toilet and shower each is a small, separate glass cubicle and near the door. Wash sink is on opposite side, next to the bed. This made me feel uncomfortable. It will be awkward if I’m to stay here with friends or family. The walls are thin. It was noisy when guests from next rooms chatted outside their rooms. Staff at check in and Jam 17 who attended to me were friendly but they couldn’t speak English well so we had some difficulty with our communication. At Jam17, two staff in grey suits were without smile throughout the time I had my breakfast there. With the name Groove Hotel, I thought I would have a fun stay but it was quite disappointing.

Hotel is new and room was very well cleaned throughout our 7- night stay. Water pressure n water temp control were excellent, likewise for our room aircon. Location is fantastic, at shopping area with lots of restaurants. Only gripe is that the main Shinjuku train station is a 15-min. walk away. Airport limousine from both Narita n Haneda stops right at the hotel with tickets purchased via QR code at the limousine bus stop.
However on the down side, room was rather small but that can be expected for this location and price range.

Checked in on opening day, funky hotel in the heart of Kabukicho! We stayed in the garden suite and had the best views of Godzilla! The hotel and area felt very safe, you had to tap your room key in the elevator to get to your floor! Was a little disappointed that a suite didn’t have a mini bar but it did have a fridge and family mart was just across the street(they are EVERYWHERE though). Also at the bar and restaurant you can’t just charge it to your room and you can’t open a tab you must pay as you drink but a lot of bars in Tokyo were like that. We loved the area so lively at night and again felt completely safe!

Narita express as no need to change trains. But if you are getting in late I would either book a shared or private transfer. Much less hassle and worth the money.

We had a premier room and there was a single trundle bed in there as well, even though there was only 2 of us. So even with a king and the single bed there was still plenty of room.
