the room size is smallish, but you can fit 2 large bags (one on the table, one at bottom of bed) - we took the double room. The bed was comfy and you can pick your own pillows and toiletries from the lobby. (face masks and bath salts too!). Water pressure is good, the toilet is small but manageable. The bath tub is so cutely sized. lol
The free breakfast is basic but enough to fill you up before your day. They have a free open bar with alcohol in the evenings too.
will definitely come back here to stay.
Basic breakfast, however quite good. Free alcohol bar in the evenings for a period of time. Good wifi.
Great location and close to the station. I was not fond of the pillow. Felt like it was full of rice. New to Japan so may be traditional. All round great accommodation.
Pros:
Great Location
close to both JR Lines and Tokyo Metro Subway Lines
Plenty Places to eat
Ameyoko at door step
lots of shopping
clean
staff great
breakfast was good
being able to pick our pillow was great plus
bed was comfortable
was able to pick 5 toiletry products daily
AM/PM next to hotel
Bank Close by to do foreign exchange
Con:
small room
not enough space for luggage
JR Okachimachi Station closest to hotel did not have any escalator or elevator so had to carry all our baggage down/up several flights of stairs
Not lots of room for luggage or to hang your clothes
overall great stay. I would recommend this hotel.
The rooms, as one would expect of hotels with such decent price in Tokyo, are pretty small, basically 2 ft walkway around a double bed, plus a table by the window side, plus the equally tiny bathroom, which I imagine will be difficult to use for the taller crowd.
That said, the rooms are very clean and the bed comfortable. One should always remember to grab some of their "alternative" pillows from next to the reception, as the ones in the rooms are really bean bags with huge (and hard) beans inside. Not very comfortable to me.
Anyhow, with the great location, clean room, comfortable bed and budget price, this is my go-to hotel in Tokyo.
Besides, can have healthy breakfast in this hotel and also it's Japanese style dish.
Staffs are willing to help, they even help me to made a reservation for a popular crab restaurant. This is a great experience for us, I`ll definitely come back again next time.
Hotel staff is polite and can speak passable English. They helped me call a taxi to the airport.
But honestly, you can do better. I would pay ~$10-$20 more each night for a better room somewhere near Ueno station.
The room itself is moderately sized by Tokyo standards. But I really do not like having passcode-only doors. Also, there is no phone inside your room - so if you need something, you need to walk out into the hallway by the elevator to use the shared phone.
The bathroom is absolutely tiny. You have zero room when on the toilet.
Also, the "free breakfast" is not worth it unless you are on a really tight budget. I ended up getting food at the local 7-11 instead of waiting in line. The air conditioner unit was hard to use.
The included toiletries are abysmal compared to other hotels. You'll want to buy your own shampoo, conditioner, and hand soap from 7-11
"Very limited amenities. You'll want to bring your own toiletries. Included pillows are filled with beans. Avoid or bring your own! "Read full review
"JR Okachimachi has no elevator nor escalator but a walking distance from the Skyliner or Ueno Station."Read full review
"Always grab a pillow from next to the reception when you check in - those run out pretty quickly. The ones in room are quite uncomfortable."Read full review
"They only have 1 elevator. Which can mean that morning rush hour can be a hassle if you get a room on the top floors. If you are in a rush, you can always use the emergency exit to take the flights of stairs all the way to the lobby."Read full review
