This was a lovely place to stay and was so close to the main shrine and activities. It had breakfast included and was a really good value for money. The hostel room was clean and safe had to use a key card to get in and out of your room. The staff where really helpful and really enjoy our stay. We are planning to go back at the end of the trip before we fly out.
Only one down side is for JR pass holders it can be a pain to get to. We took the Narita airport express, then took the Yamato line to Ueno and that was free. Then you have to pay to take the Ginza line to Asakusa. You would have to pay each day to get out. We decided to just walk to Ueno then it was free but is a 30-35 mins walk wouldn’t recommend with big bags.

Our selected lodgings to use as a base for a climb up Mount Fuji with the Trail Adventours July 2024 group.
The facilities are kept clean and the beds are comfortable, with all rooms air-conditioned (a blessing in the oppressive Japanese summer heat and humidity).
Shower and toilet provisions are limited but kept in good order, though it's worth noting that some floors have fewer stalls than others, which may result in queuing during more crowded periods.
The free breakfast of soup and toast is light but good to get you going in the morning before a day of sightseeing. Prices are also agreeable, though naturally, dorm-style bedding arrangements and bunk beds are not for everyone.

I originally planned to stay at Sakura Hostel Asakusa for two nights, but because of its convenient location and the people there I extended my stay night by night. The energy at the hostel was quite amazing, the common area is large and comfortable as well as the rooms which were just as good. The staff made me feel like I was back at home, and felt more as family rather than just workers. When I come back to Japan i'll be sure to visit here again.

This is a true hostel in the best sense of the word. There has been a great vibe here every time we've stayed. There are people of all ages and nationalities and single travellers and families. The mix makes for some great conversations and exchanges of travel experiences and information. The location is in a great place for shopping, cultural activities or exploring Tokyo. They have fun activities right in the hostel, like calligraphy classes and area tours and parties. The staff all speak excellent English and are all fun-loving and friendly and happy to chat about Japan. The manager Peter is very helpful and even let us leave our bags there even though we weren't due to stay there till 2 weeks later.
Check it out.

I had a brief stay in Asakusa Hostel from January 11-13 and it’s in a really great location (right next to Senso-ji Temple, Ichi-Ran Ramen and it’s in walking distance from Tokyo Skytree and the Ueno Park, amongst other locations). The staff was exceptionally friendly, especially Peter, who’s the manager in the hostel. Safe to say i will definitely be going back there on my next trip to Tokyo.

If you are a newbie westerner in Japan (tourist or just started working), I really recommend to stay your first days/months in Sakura hostel. They provide many cultural events and meetups which helped me to immerse into Japaneese culture. They are the best boost for the first days of your trip.
During my 6-month stay in Japan, I lived in Shinjuku and also in Sakura Asakusa hostel. I liked Asakusa hostel's location more because it has a traditional vibe which I enjoyed.
The best option for me was the fact that I could work remotely in the lobby and have my online meetings with access to coffee and tea.
Toilets and bath are super clean.
Our room's view was outstanding with a balcony.
It was so nice they included breakfast. don't expect a fancy one. But we bought our own cereal or honey to complement it. Then you can say their breakfast is a time saver.
I recommend staying at Sakura Hostel and I actually plan to go back there in the next year.

I love this place, the vibe is so cool which makes a change from the rest of the places in Tokyo. Everyone is super friendly, Peter is the manager and the best host for events, the Christmas party was wonderful, lots of guests dressed up in Santa costumes and really delicious food. All the staff are super fun and friendly. It's really the perfect hostel in the best location for tourist sightseeing places. Will definitely come back ! Thank you

Toilets have bidets.
Bathrooms and showers are shared by each floor of the hostel but there's usually enough space to minimize waiting time except during morning rush.
Hello!
Hope it's not too late. The lockers are quite small, you can put a bag in them, camera and books and you may squeeze a small backpack in there but definitely not a big backpack or a trolley nor a suitcase. So the locks are small, too, you can bring a medium-small padlock, not a sturdy big one, it won't fit.
Yes, they provide private rooms if you dont feel like sharing bunk beds with fellow travelers.
