I was just looking at the last two posts about this amazing Wilderness Lodge (which sadly were both very negative) and had to pinch myself and check that I was writing a review for the same place! Ladies.....the clue was in the title when you booked.....'Wilderness Lodge'.... I have to say that our three night stay at Lake Moeraki Wilderness...

Travelling with a group we were booked into this Lodge, which had been presented to be such a spectacular venue,,,,and what a disappointment,From the moment we arrived,,the owner Ann was as warm as the icy waters,,,the staff needs lessons in professional service,,,as the level of care was mediocre at best,,The food was not only limited in offerings, but very poor in...

The good news is that it was a lovely setting. The dining room in particular has a serene view of the flowing river. A problem was that this lodge was described as very eco-conscious. I found no evidence of that, and in fact was troubled by just the opposite. Here are a few examples: in our room was a large...

The Lodge is miles from any town in splendid isolation. As such, it is of no little consequence that the dining experience here is superb, featuring fresh local dishes. The location is picturesque and pristine. The lodge is on a small river located via and easy walk, between the Lake and the Tasman Sea. The facilities are well maintained, with...

Our experience at Lake Moeraki was unparalleled during our 6 week trip down under, in that we learned so much and experienced nature first hand in a way we had never done before. The lodge itself, while not quite luxurious, is more than comfortable enough and we ate very well each evening in the restaurant. However it is the conservation...

This lodge is the life work of Anne and Gerry. They spent the last 25 years building and running it and i think they did a fantastic job. There is nothing fancy about all the harware but all detail are well thought of. The real beauty is the surrounding pristine rainforest; lake; stream; beaches.... This is prefect for those who...

We recently spent two nights while on a bike tour. Our room was lovely, the bathroom was modern, clean, and well stocked, the meals were excellent, and the public areas for gathering were comfortable, inviting, and well stocked with environmental/nature books and specimens. We were treated to free nature hikes, access to the lake, and a night astronomy talk. The...
