As I passed through the village on the way to Lulworth Cove, I saw that the pub had previously been awarded the Cider Pub Of The Year by CAMRA and suddenly developed a bit of a thirst! I tried the Devon Red cider which was very good. I decided to have lunch, so ordered a cheeseburger and was awed by...

Found this place almost by accident as we were trying to find a dog friendly pub for a bit to eat after a visit to Durdle Dor. Quick download of an app pointed us in the direction of The Castle - glad it did! It is a bit dark and dingy, but that adds to the character I think.. the...

At almost £100 this room was overpriced and poor value for money. This is in comparison with several other hotels we stayed in on our recent winter Dorset Coastal holiday. We though £60 would have been the right level for our room. The room and décor appeared to be stuck in the 1970s and was in severe need of re-furb....

Having read the reviews of the Castle Inn before booking it was clear that this was a 'marmite' case, reviewers either loved it or hated it. We wanted somewhere we could take our cocker spaniel and spend the weekend exploring the nearby coast, and this met all our needs. It is, as its publicity clearly says, a dog-friendly pub. Yes,...

Stayed just for one night with our dog. We were made to feel extremely welcome from the outset, shown to our room which was warm and well appointed. After a walk we started on the cider list! The awards this pub has garnered over the years seem very well deserved, especially for their championing of small cider producers. There really...

A good example of a pub in a tourist area,,,,,no need to bother as there will always be a steady supply of customers. The place obviously hasn't been touched for 40 years judging by the signs and decor. No where decent to sit, scruffy staff (albeit polite) and an expensive menu. We won't be back. Oh and what's with the...

Stopped by for an evening drink after a few years away and the first thing that I noticed in the main bar was the overwhelming smell of old cabbage, manky dog whiff and chip fat. I can't begin to list all the things sadly dire about this inn! Sad, very tired, poor and shabby (and not in the 'chic' sense!)...

Despite saying our visit to this Inn was average overall we enjoyed our stay here. The atmosphere was fantastic. A real old fashioned country pub. The bar areas were cosy and inviting even though the carpet was a little dated and worn. But it was a bit like wearing a lovely old pair of favourite slippers. It's main theme is...

Would visit purely for the cider festival. Soo many to choose from so would require multiple trips - never fun one person never being able to drink. Food was great. Such a character to the building. Really cosy and warm :)

Another lovely night at the Castle. Warm welcome to humans and dogs alike. Good food, very accommodating chef and team and a comfy bed for all guests. Great breakfast set us up for the day ahead, next time I will pre-order the smoked haddock and poached eggs, it looked lovely.
