Our Lakeland walk on Sunday 8 January was punctuated by a visit to the excellent Kirkstile Inn. Delicious sandwiches and toasties washed down with various local ales. Loved the Oatmeal Stout. The place was busy but service was friendly, efficient and quick. Plenty of big tables to sit around and it must be great for a drink outside in summer.

The lunch was prebooked and everything was perfect thanks to waiter Carlos and the other staff. A delicious meal served with a great sense of humour! Carlos is our Manuel in Loweswater - a super waiter with lots of leg pulling of his customers . We love it! Thankfully there is no Basil Faulty/! All the staff there are very...

Had booked day's previously, half the menu was unavailable, asked for veg soup got tomato soup, 2 of the steaks were not cooked to order. Had eaten there before not the birthday celebrations we expected, the manager was apparently off. Gone to pot

The Kirkstile inn is a must go place every time I visit the lakes. Every time I go it is either raining or snowing which makes the greeting even more warm and cosy. There is a great bar selling local beers and ales. They also have a restaurant which is open in the evenings. Lunchtime only has sandwiches and soup...

I love this pub, I go every time I visit the lakes. It's old with stacks of character, lovely fire going and great food, and it's nestled in a lovely little part of the Lake District. There is nothing not to like about this pub, and I would recommend anyone who is in the area to visit. Some beautiful walks...

Loweswater is a quiet, secluded spot in the western Lakes and the Kirkstile is a haven for those who want to get away from it all. It is a tasteful, traditional inn serving classy food and offering a selection of its own beers in its cosy bar. When the weather is good there's a beautiful beer garden with stunning views...

We popped in for a quick drink after a walk around stunning Butermere lake. It is a lovely pub (with warm feel and real fire!) serving Loweswater Gold. It was too late for food so cannot comment at this occasion. Maybe next time!

Just out for a sight seeing drive and stumbled on this hidden gem of a pub, fantastic setting, great food and drink! Warm and welcoming. Spanish chap behind bar good fun and great friendly service. We will stay here in the future as the rooms look great. In the middle of no where but a short drive to Keswick or...

After a lovely walk near Loweswater we called at the Kirkstile Inn and discovered a little gem. Lovely warm welcome from the fire and the staff. Great choice of ales and the best fish finger butty you'll ever taste. A lovely warm, welcoming old inn, that is a must visit for all Lakes lovers.

Thank Simon K
