Marvellous to see so many animals, some very close indeed!! Although we were there at high summer - it was still pretty cold on the game drive - the blankets & waterproofs were worn! I even wore my London layers - warm cardigan & puffa jacket. So nice to come back to the roaring log fire & excellent food &...

Must pay the highest compliments to the Kariega Ukhozi Lodge team. We have just completed 3 days there and loved every minute. The food was superb. The staff were excellent. The setting is stunning. Our guide Gladman (The G Man to us) was brilliant. Knowledgeable, charming and witty. The highlight was undoubtedly a night drive with Gladman. We stumbled across...

The lodge is in the middle of the game reserve. The ukhozi lodges are very roomy and beautiful. My brother and I felt very well in there. Corresponding to the accommodation we had several game drives with steph. She is a really good guide. We saw 4 of the big 5. The staff was very nice all the time. 4/5...

We spent 3 days at Kariega at the end of Garden route tour. Extremely comfortable spacious lodge with spectacular views from our deck. Juan our ranger was extremely knowledgeble on all of the animals, flora and fauna and very sociable. He was determined to find lions for us even if it meant extending the drive at the end of the...

We visited Kariega in the first stint of our honeymoon. The only disappointment was that we had single beds! As a same sex couple this is happens frequently but I didn't expect it as our travel company specified that we were on honeymoon twice. That aside, what an amazing experience. The staff were lovely and couldn't do enough for guests....

We spent 4 nights at Ukhozi Lodge in September; as we were just at the beginning of spring the weather was quite changeable and we did get some rain - but that didn't stop any of the game drives. We went out twice a day with our guide,Rosie, who was great - very knowledgeable and determined to find the animals...

Good game viewing: saw elephant, lion, giraffe, zebra, other big 5, buck of all kinds. No leopard spotted for many years and we couldn't find the buffalo. Beautiful terrain but perhaps more animals needed as they were sparse in areas. Rooms nice. Food sometimes great, sometimes very average. Helpful staff but could do with some additional training to just give...

We had a lovely safari at Kariega, the first stop on our honeymoon and saw all their fantastic animals in their natural surroundings. Elephants making their presence felt was a highlight. Rosie our guide was so knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. By the end of it you feel like part of the furniture....

Our family of five stayed in two of the Ukhozi Lodge chalets for three nights and it was probably the highlight of our South African holiday and there were many during this first trip as a family to one of the most beautiful countries we have ever visited. The check-in process was speedy and although we were a little late...

A wonderful 3 night stay at this superior Lodge was the right time to catch most of the big five - leopards not there. If you ever wanted an 8 foot square bed this is the place with private plunge pool as well. Food was good and varied but the best bit is always going to be the Game drives....

“Ukhozi Lodge has the best location of the lodges on the Kariega Game Reserve as the chalets are seperate and quiet and the drives to find the animals not as long as from River Lodge. The main lodge is not so peaceful but I'm sure the chalets in all lodges are excellent.”
