This is a nice campground where most sites are private and have shade. One loop has electricity. There isn't a dumpstation and the water supply is limited. Each camping loop has two biffies (one for men and one for women). This is a beautiful park. Half to three quarters day gives you plenty of time to visit each of the...

Driving into the park, you don't get a sense of what awaits you. This park is nothing short of spectacular. With it's 2000 foot canyon walls straight down to the Gunnison river, to the painted wall, you will never get tired of looking at it. Listen as you can hear the roar of the river down below. There are many...

This campground is very close to the south rim of the Black Canyon. I loved the setting of the campground and the fact that each site was separated from other sites by a lot of trees and shrubs so privacy was awesome at each site. Tent only loop was very quiet and enjoyable. There are no showers or flush toilets...

Early morning is the best time to visit this spectacular canyon carved by the Gunnison River. Don't miss the Painted Wall. Walk to as many overlooks as you can to experience the depth of a canyon that is deeper than it is wide. A visit with the rangers at the visitor center is definitely worth a stop.

Black Canyon is a great full on national park. Definitely one of the smaller parks I've been in and one of the quietest too! That's a good thing! There is hiking you can do, but it involves serious scrambling! We passed on that, but did the shorter ones to the edge of the canyon in multiple places! It's an awesome...

Absolutely worth the stop no matter where you are coming from! The canyon is deeper than wide and it is obvious as soon as you set your eyes on it! Plenty of hikes and pull overs for photos, better not be afraid of heights! Plenty of parking at every stop, even larger trucks and trailers.

It is such a jewel to see lots of more to see and do since last here . Loved the road down to see the dam area. 16% grade and so glad to see the bottom of canyon. I believe it is just as awesome if not more so than the Grand Canyon. It could be scary for some but...

For $15 park entrance fee we saw almost a sight to equal the Grand Canyon, not really but very impressive. We went to all the lookouts on the drive up the Canyon and then took the drive down into the base of the canyon where the dam was, where there are also rest room facilities and picnic tables. We spent...

This national park deserves to have a bigger reputation than it does. The rim drive around the south side of the canyon is beautiful. You can drive the entire rim and do some short hikes in an afternoon. The park is a short drive from Montrose, Colorado. The drive is not particularly scary and the hikes to the edge of...

This white knuckle drive through the park is worth it when you see the incredible canyon walls. I call this place the second best hole in the ground....behind the Grand Canyon. This is actually more amazing because the 2,700 foot drop seems more intense becaude the distance across is measured in feet and not miles. Take ranger guided hike to...
