What can you say about El Tovar. It is an American classic. You are paying for the views and the location. It is not the prettiest interior, and the room isn't going to blow you away, but hopefully you're aware of that before booking. My highest recommendations.

So even if you don't stay at the hotel, eat there by all means and visit the gift shop. We found serious snow hats - we were snowed in! and replica china from this early railroad adventure hotel. After finding more tourist contemporary items (also good at Bright Angel), go next door to the Hopi House for Native American art...

After a day of exploring the Grand Canyon and it's "AWE", my wife and I slid into the Lounge at the El Tovar for "Afternoon Delight". While the El Tovar Hotel steals most of the attention from it's guests, I would be remiss if I didn't toss a bone or two tin the direction of it's sibling. The El Tovar...

When I stayed here, the shampoo and conditioner was great, probably the best smelling I have ever had at a hotel. Lots of stories from the staff about President Theodore Roosevelt, passed down from generations. They have lots of foreign exchange college students there on a work visa from every country you can think of, I say that to say...

The location on the South Rim, literally a few footsteps from the edge of the Grand Canyon, is incredible. The historic nature of the hotel is an attraction of its own, though the rooms do reflect the style of a former era. There is no elevator, and room service is offered throughout, even on the third floor, to which we...

This grand log built structure is a dream! The massive wrap around porch is loaded with rocking chairs. The lobby is dark and beautiful complete with fireplace and loads of sitting area. I felt like Teddy Roosevelt might come walking in at any time! There are also 2 gift shops, beautiful native American jewelry on display and for sale. The...

The El Tovar was built in 1905,....so there are no elevators. While there is a bellman to help y ou with your luggage, you will be climbing stairs for floor 2 and 3. SOOOo pack lightly and maybe even 2 small suitcases for your trek up a grand staircase. We had a modestly priced room and the 3rd floor. About...

El Tovar a amazing! Beautiful views, literally on the rim of the Grand Canyon. Room service was lovely and the staff was amazing. Restaurant hard to get in at times but room service solved that problem! No regrets!

This majestic hotel was built in 1905, so do not expect a modern-era property. However, it exudes charm and historical significance. The location is ideal for the South Rim, and services are a brisk walk or short drive away. Service and food were fine. Our room was small, but well equipped for a historic property.

I first saw the El Tovar nearly 20 years ago and have always wanted to stay their with my wife. Now that we are both retired, a stay at the El Tovar finally became possible. In high summer, the Grand Canyon is a very busy place and hoards of tourists descend on the national park. However, with time on our...
