The military camp was built in 1916. It was a very clean and nice cabin. If you are expecting a 5 star resort this is not for you...but if you are looking for a clean and nice place with a lot of history this is for you. The staff was very attentive to our needs. When staying here you are...

Considering that this camp began in 1916 this place has aged well. The buildings added over the years have complimented the original plan. There are several places to get food. Also a bar appropriately called the Lava Lounge. You can book different types of tours that definitely beat out what is available through the major companies. We had a tour...

My friend and I stayed for two nights at KMC in a 2-bedroom cabin (#67) and found it to be just awesome. The cabin was nicely furnished and everything was very clean. The linens & towels were incredibly soft and felt amazing. We had a functional fireplace and firelog waiting for us. We didn't figure out the heater system in...

Knowing it was an historical military camp, we were pleasantly surprised with our accommodations at KMC. We were not surprised with the gracious service because the military usually does things right. We had a 2 bedroom with full kitchen cabin. We used the kitchen for breakfast and snacking, but we could have produced a full, home cooked meal without any...

Our one bedroom unit fit 4 of us comfortably. The bathroom was spacious as was the kitchen area (microwave and fridge provided with sink and cabinets). The fireplace was awesome as was the free wifi. The small grocery, cafeteria, bowling alley, bar, laundry and sport courts are all within walking distance. The reception and housekeeping staff were very friendly and...

I should start by saying, we aren't campers...we aren't outdoorsy people...and we like to stay in nice hotels. I work for the DOD and co-workers recommended a stay at the KMC while we visited the big island so we decided to give it a shot. We were upgrade to a 2 bedroom cottage (we reserved a 1 bedroom) and when...

Since we were travelling with a veteran we were eligible to stay here. (you must be military or dept of defense connected in order to make reservations). The rates are much more reasonable than other accomadations in the park and the location is so convenient for viewing the caldera late at night. We stayed in a 3 bedroom cabin which...

Visiting Volcanoes National Park is a great experience. Staying inside the park is better. Staying in the military camp is the best! We were sponsored by my veteran father. It is reasonably priced, comfortable and far more interesting than a conventional accommodation. The grounds are extensive. It was great for our teenage and older offspring to have room to roam....

KMC was an outstanding choice as we returned to the Volcano. The cabins are rustic but fit right in at the Volcano. Service was good but checkin/checkout was a bit slow. The KMC offers a cafeteria, a mini-base exchange, a lounge and a gas station. Everyone can use the facilities, with the exception of lodging which is limited to military...

It's not a 5 star resort; however, it offers decent lodging at affordable rates. When yo look at the services provided it's a steal of a deal. It has laods of onsite entertainment and services; bowling alley, theater, launder, general store, and much more. Tostay in town and the Volcano Lodge you'll easly pay atleast twice as much
