You don't go to Isle Royale for the accommodations. The Rock Harbor lodge has all the necessary amenities. The staff is helpful and friendly. Our room looked recently rehabbed and had great deck at the edge of Lake Superior. Otherwise, it was reminiscent of a...More

While it is not a cheap place to stay... It is your only option outside of a tent to spend some time on Isle Royal. It is definitely a place you should visit at least once in your life. The rooms are adequate and they...More

We stayed one night at the Rock Harbor Lodge, Our room was clean and our king size bed quite comfortable, especially after a day of hiking. The view from the picture window overlooking Lake Superior was breathtaking. Did not miss TV or phone!

No cell service !!! Whoop! The lodge has different options - Housekeeping Cabins (nestled in the woods) and Lakeview (along the shore of Lake Superior facing south). Depends on you preference - woods is more solitude and quiet with sparse views of Tobin Harbor and...More

Most folks don't know this, but there are housekeeping cabins on IR besides the Lodge. This is the second time we've stayed in them - once in 2008 and 2016. The cabins have the same mid-century modern architecture as the Lodge - only MUCH larger....More

          When do you close down?
          21 July 2016|
          Response from LSUTraveller |
The boat trips begin getting less frequent (not daily) on Aug. 31. Park stays open for another month, but you have to stay at least 3 days. I think total shutdown is Sept. 30
Are the meals included in the price of the rooms at the Lodge?

No - and the hours may be somewhat limited. So just check before you go.
