We just visited for an overnight stay last week on Aug 15. We landed at 830 am and had a quick snack and then went to go see bears for a few hours. At that time we saw about 15 bears. When we were coming back to the lodge we saw a bear walk right by our cabin and in...

We booked a tour with Rusts to Chinitna Bay to see bears on a day trip. Our flights were fine, we arrived at Bear Mountain Lodge and it all went downhill from there. Our 'guide' was a friend of the lodge owner helping out. We used 2 vehicles to drive a short stretch down the beach and then walked through...

Great overnight stay with four trips out to see the bears. Friendly and welcoming staff and Rob our guide was excellent. An experience that we shall always remember, especially our encounters with bears, eagles, foxes and a wolf.

Firstly the arrival by small plane and landing on the beach is an experience in itself. We were unlucky to have poor weather and visibility so had to fly low but this didn't detract from the amazing scenery and sense of isolation. The lodge itself is comfortable enough - not luxurious but more than adequate. The price for staying is...

I would like to make clear this review is about communication- not the Lodge. We were scheduled to stay at the Lodge for one night in August. Our trip was cancelled due to high winds so I can't rate the Lodge. With that said- I booked this in January and received a receipt shortly afterwards and never heard from the...

It is absolutely essential that you check to see whether the tides will allow you to access the bear viewing area. We stayed overnight and saw really nothing of note that the day trippers did not see. And even that day very few bears were anywhere near the meadow and mud flats area. Because of the tides we were unable...

It cannot be said enough -- Spend the night! It is more than worth the extra money. We arrived before noon, had lunch, and went out to see the bears. During the afternoon, the bears were in the far meadow -- quite a distance away. There were a lot of bears but I know I would have been disappointed if...

Many folks do just fly-in and out day trips to see bears, but for not that much extra money (these trips are indeed pricey), it's possible to spend a night (or more) at Bear Mountain Lodge. Even without the bears, the setting and mountain-backdrop scenery are spectacular, as is the Natron Air flight to and from Soldotna. But add the...

Our guide, Eberhart Brunner, shared many interesting stories as we walked right up to bears walking through the meadow. His experience as a professional wildlife photographer and demeanor added much to the overall experience. Saw bears in the bay, bears in the meadow and bears on the beach. Thank you for our private tour.

We visited on July 1st, it is definitely the highlight of our trip! We saw so many bears, especially in the morning and evening! We saw bears from a very close distance, eating grass in the marsh, digging for clams along the beach, stretching their legs, and mother playing with their cubs! Marti, the owners of the lodge, did such...
