We stayed for 4 nights at Le Nid Tropical. It is a complex located pretty high above Bouillante. It consists of 4 bungalows (2 apartments each) and a main building with 4 apartments next to each other and a huge terrace on top op the apartments with lots of space to sit (i.e. if you travel as a group) and table tennis. As it is fully covered with a roof an occasional evening rain doesn’t spoil your sundowner. Furthermore there is a bar and two washing machines which may used for €2/wash. Bungalows and apartments have stunning views over the ocean. Upon arrival we were greeted by the owners who gave us a very warm welcome. They helped us with our luggage and took time to explain how everything worked in the apartment. They live next to the swimming pool so we always could drop by if we had any kind of question. Unlike other properties you can use the swimming pool whenever you want. The owners are French but also speak English. The were even so thoughtful to print out information in Dutch for us in case we’d arrive and they’d not be around. A little gesture we appreciated. Our apartment “Sainte Lucie” had a huge porch which also was the kitchen and dining area. Everything is held in bright Caribbean colours which make you simply happy. Main house and bungalows are surrounded by a lush, well maintained garden with beautiful flowers and our favourite tree, the “arbre de voyageur”. In the morning the chicken come to check for crumbs from dinner, and some cats are playing on the lawn in front of the porch. The kitchen is fully equipped with fridge/freezer, toaster, coffee machine, oven, microwave, and of course there is cooking gear, boards and cutlery. The supermarket (Carrefour) is two minutes away with a highly recommendable bakery next to it. The bedroom has a hyper romantic fourposter bed and a bunk bed, so 4 people can sleep there easily if no privacy is needed. The bathroom has a good size with a nice shower and good water pressure. Also there good working wifi, and a good airco. After long days of driving around Basse Terre or diving (i.e. Les heures Saines is 4 mins away by car) we very much enjoyed hanging out on our porch or chill out in the hammock. We very much felt at home and we say Thank you again to Madame and Monsieur!…
