Arrived at 4pm (time advised for check-in) for booked 2 night stay only to find everything locked up and nobody in sight. Peered through window to see phone number but I had no reception so couldn't call. Luckily my sister who was with me had reception so she rang and eventually Alison arrived to unlock and let us in. Rooms...

We initially visited the Hart, but we're told they weren't serving food and they sent us to the Anchor. A good recommendation! We had the sharing platter and chose 6 items. All excellent - and we couldn't manage it all. Not often we are beaten, so well done! Great pub grub and friendly service. Will definitely return when we are...

What a dump ... Much like the previous reviewer we turned up at 6pm on a Saturday night to find all the doors locked , stood in the pouring rain we managed to alert a lady standing behind the bar "oh s**t i forgot to unlock the doors " was our greeting as we finally gained access to the dreary...

When we turned up the place was empty and in darkness ( 5pm). We parked and found our way in to the hotel. It was completely empty of another living soul and unlit. We found a number to ring for help but found we had no signal at all. We searched around but the place was deserted. After 20 minutes...

The place is dirty, except for the bathroom. The windows were grimy, the carpet on the stairs was stained and dirty. The light above the bathroom mirror didn't work. An electric socket was hanging off the wall. Two out of the four pillows had pillow cases. The breakfast bar surface was dirty. There was no muesli, yoghurt or fruit. These...

My wife and I booked a one night, midweek stay at The Anchor. The room itself cost £65 and breakfast was extra. We opted not to have breakfast. The room was clean but plain. There was no soap in the bathroom, just a three quarters empty handwash. There were no spoons for the complimentary tea and coffee.

My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights on a bed and breakfast basis in May 2016. We found what we paid for our room and a full English breakfast (which was huge and very well cooked) each morning to be unbelievably great value for money. (Other options, such as vegetarian breakfast were also available). Our room was very...

The one positive thing about my visit to The Anchor Inn was that the staff were friendly. The room was rather worn looking and not at all clean. Stained flooring and mould in the bathroom really unacceptable! The two glasses wrapped in plastic, which one would think hygienic, were in fact far from it and needed a thoroughly good wash...
