This was a brilliant place to stay and would've earned five stars but for a few points regarding our room. Let me firstly say how friendly and helpful the staff are and how welcome we felt there. The food available in the restaurant was cooked perfectly and there is a good choice plus a range of specials. We ate in...

Close to town, lovely friendly busy pub restaurant. Room was plenty big enough for one night, it was clean and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was really nice too, crispy bacon is hard to come by.

Called in for a beer, too early for us to dine. Nice warm welcome, friendly atmosphere. Locals eating (a good sign), food looked yummy. Good menu choice, we plan to visit / dine when we are next in the area.

Visited with friends on our canal holiday and just wanted a nice hot meal with a environment to chill out in. Gem of a pub, excellent food and friendly staff. Not over priced and great home cooked food. Most recommended place to eat in Ellesmere. The pub was busy, but we didn't have to wait too long. Will go again for definite.

My wife and I popped in for lunch after walking around the Mere. Two courses for £6.99 was a bargain. Good choice on the menu and service excellent. We will go again. I would recommend. The menus for dinners looked very tasty so we will have to try soon.

Having had a lovely meal here earlier in the year we were expecting much better than was served up. We both ordered the Plaice and chips. I have never seen such small portion of Plaice and even though there were two per plate the breadcrumb coating was so overdone any of the fish between the coating was reduced to about...

this is a 15th century coach house so obviously some of the walls and floors are subsided and lopsided.... all makes for that lovely quirky stay.... we stayed b&b for two nights and i can honestly say my hubby and me and our old dog felt so welcome and at home... the food was reasonably priced and good value... and...
