Portofino is a really nice place. Our condo rental was the penthouse on Tower 5; the 21st floor. Three bedrooms, four baths, wrap-around balcony. Top TOP shelf place. The staff was super friendly, the bars & food excellent and fairly priced. Super safe with a guard on the resort entrance. Absolutely beautiful views. Couldn't ask for more; truly, the best.
we wanted a resort with a great pool scene and this did not disappoint! There are two pools at the Lifestyle Center (and one is strangely heated even when it is 100 degrees out...) and they have a bar and outdoor restaurant right there at the pool. You can walk over and order or they servers will come to you. I was very impressed with how good the food was and how attentive the servers were. We never waited forever to place an order or for an order to show up. We also wanted a big condo so our family could spread out and the condo was very nice and spacious. The beach was a quick ten minute walk (we were in tower 4 which was so perfect because it was right next door to the lifestyle center) and the beach was so pretty and not overcrowded as this portion of the beach is far away from the main part. Arriving was a little rough because we arrived early and I figured that there would be somewhere air conditioned to wait for our room and NO, if you have kids, there is not any place like that because the kids are not allowed up in the spa which is the only inside place to sit. I had read about the starbucks and the pizza restaurant and the Coastal restaurant and the al fresco restaurant and I figured that there would be somewhere indoors to sit and there is not. So, if you check in early and you need to get out of the sun, go back to the pier and go to a restaurant or shopping. The lifestyle center is really like a hallway through a building on your way to the pool. The Coastal restaurant is not open mid afternoon and nothing else (other than the spa) has seating. The starbucks is a very abbreviated menu available from the VERY small market. The Market is really the size of a large elevator so do not expect to buy a lot of stuff there. They had a very small amount of soda and some wine and small bottles of liquor and some super small sized travel packs of this and that but they did not have regular sized bags of chips, crackers, cookies etc. I went down to see if they had any shampoo (the ones in the room are tiny if you will be washing your hair daily) and they did not have anything like that. Bring your own! Beach and pool towels are not provided so pack your own. If you are not renting a car, be aware that uber is not plentiful so you may have to wait a bit. We never had to wait over 20 minutes so that was not too bad but on our checkout day when our scheduled ztrip never showed up to take us to the airport (grrrr) uber was also not available so my takeaway is that you can't really rely on uber here (or ztrip!). The front desk has some names of locals that run cab services so be sure to use one of them to set up ride back to airport! We never used the trolley to get to the pier (it runs from 4 to midnight) but it looked like a good option. Overall, we had a great time, the food from Al Fresco was incredible every single time we ordered from their fairly large menu, and the service was great!…
Views are awesome. Condo cleanliness was not. Keurig water tank had mildew. Floors were dirty. Sheets were dirty. Is it worth your money? Idk. If you don’t mind cleaning and doing laundry upon arrival then sure! Also I did email management about the condition of the condo and I never received a response.
landscaping was wonderful, as were all of the staff. Food was of exceptionally poor standard and the drinks were bland. The cost of activities and rentals were far too high and probably were so because the resort was so far away from the main beach. The beach itself was exceptional. We stayed in tower 4 room 1304. It was furthest away from the beach and I would not choose this option again. The view was wonderful. The apartment was looking very tired, the bathrooms were very old fashioned and there was substantial mold on the doors, the apartment needed a thorough paint job. The bed was soft and the pillows were cheap. It was very clean though.
Cooktop on stove did not work, was reported every day, on the 4th day someone came to the room to check it, left a mess on the kitchen floor and did not fix anything. With what this resort charges this should of been taken care of immediately. Room decor was great and comfy beds. However the lack of concern and being unable to cook on the stovetop was a huge disappointment. Tower 4, room 2101
After getting engaged in June of 2021, my now-husband and I decided to go with Portofino for our wedding. We have been for the last 10 years with my family for vacations and knew we could trust everyone at the resort to help with wedding planning as we were planning our beach destination wedding from TX. We reserved 4 condos for the week, and each of them were beautifully furnished and perfect for our families and guests. In regards to wedding planning and execution, I cannot thank Emily and the rest of the Portofino staff enough. Emily, the wedding coordinator at the resort, made time to have phone calls with me, reach out to vendors, and finalize details as the day approached. Day of comes around and an hour before our beach ceremony was supposed to start large rain clouds were rolling in. We decided to move our ceremony start time forward, and Emily and the rest of the staff made the setup happen without a hitch. As the rain started pouring shortly after the ceremony Emily and other staff members carefully got all of our decorations and arbor packed away. The reception setup was beautifully executed and everyone was accommodating to the rain and crazy weather. I cannot put into words how impressed and thankful I am for Emily and the rest of the wedding day staff for making our beach wedding happen amidst the weather.…
Stunning ! Stunning ! Stunning ! Our family was completely blown away by the View and Opulence of this vacation rental. The panoramic views of the Gulf of Mexico, it's turquoise waters and white sandy beaches, the expanse of the Santa Rosa Sound presenting near continuously from this 18th floor gem was breathtaking. The unit was gorgeous, meticulously clean, with an unparalleled attention to detail. The amenities offered at Portofino Island Resort & Spa are endless - literally endless. I am so grateful to our host for providing our family with this opportunity to vacation in such style and accommodation. Perfect ! Perfect ! Perfect ! Mr. & Mrs C & Family
We haven’t left yet, but we won’t be returning. We’re staying in tower 3 and there is so much noise before 8am! Today it was the obnoxious beeping of a recycling truck off and on from 7-7:45. Who wants to be awake at 7am on vacation?! Also, the tennis court lights stay on until 10pm! If your unit faces the courts, be ready for your room to glow. Young children?… yeah… that’s a beast of a problem at bedtime. Our unit has blackout roller shades, but no curtains, so the light gap on either side is huge. The one plus was the office did tape up blackout paper for us, so that was a huge help. The pools are clean and the beach access from tower 3 is great if you dare to risk a trip where you can’t sleep past 7am. You’d think that on the 13th floor you’d be high enough not to hear car alarms, delivery trucks, trash and recycling pickup, but alas, you’re not. Maybe if you had a strictly beach facing unit?? I’m not willing to risk it another time.…
***DO NOT RENT THIS UNIT IF AT ALL POSSIBLE*** I MEAN IT - JUST DONT*** Owner is extremely difficult to work with if you are unhappy with your stay. Dirty, it's just worn down. The grill outside is broken, balcony furniture is rusted, walls inside are FILTHY. Bedding is dirty - it is white and all the bedspreads and shams are brown from not being cleaned. Bathroom shower rods fell on my son not once but twice, the hooks are half missing. All and I mean ALL the doors are chipping, peeling with the door jams rusted and leaking down the frame - it's gross and again, dirty. Dishwasher broke 4 days into the stay and was unable to be fixed - owner tried to blame us but little does she know my husbands a plumber and even the maintenance man agreed it was the electric panel in the dishwasher. There was also a leak under the kitchen sink that we reported to owner, maintenance came out first day - buuuuuut never fixed. I cant even make this up. The views are amazing and the main resort and pools are fabulous - we have stayed here many times, but his unit and this owner TAKE THE CAKE. It is not cheap to stay here and your expectations should be high for the price - this unit will not meet your expectations. I've attached photos attached, I wish they showed better detail of how filthy and run down this unit actually was... Good luck renters - if considering Portofino - stay in building 1. We've stayed multiple times and loved every unit and the pool is very quite.…
We booked at Portofino on the recommendation of a friend. We had never been to the panhandle and were looking for somewhere to spend our 25th anniversary. We rented condo P1-1403 and the pictures on the website didn’t do it justice. It was better than we could have hoped for. Check in was easy. Staff was friendly throughout the visit. Food and drinks were delicious. We ordered the adventure package but could have just done daily beach rentals. Each morning, walked onto the beach and were given the best chairs at the time. Great service. We used the free trolley service from 4pm- midnight to get around the island. It was great. We used grocery concierge and they delivered our groceries and put them away before we checked. Saved us so much time! We also reserved a sunset beach picnic with grocery concierge but a quick moving storm nixed that and we were able to set it up in our room. We would definitely come back again.…
