This hotel will never get an excellent from me due to a few fatal flaws. For such a high standard (and cost) of hotel I would have expected a few “better” services. There is a fully fitted kitchen in the room with no crockery, kettle etc, so you can’t even make a warm drink after a day skiing. In ALL of the hotels I’ve ever stayed in (from 2-5 star), they have all had kettles and tea making facilities in the rooms despite which country they’ve been in.
There was no information pack in the rooms (like you find in most hotels). Not even a book with a bar menu, etc. Ski hire, ski lift, where to go walking etc would be so handy to have to hand, so you can make an informed decision without having to trek out in the snow to three different stores to find the details.
The spa was lovely, however, I don’t think it was worth €20 each to use it and for only a 3 hour time slot. This was badly publicised on booking.com that it was this cost, and we didn’t find out until after we’d booked the room. For such a high quality hotel, and for the price paid, I wouldn’t expect (and I’ve never had to pay a supplementary rate) to pay to use the basic facilities. I would totally expect to pay for treatments but not to just use the hotel pool.
Service was alright, however, when we turned up to book in at 2pm, our room wasn’t even ready (even though check out is 10am in the morning). The room they checked us into instead had the TV missing which no one could understand where it has gone (maybe the previous tenant was recouping their €20 for the spa 😂). So eventually after a bit of too-Ing and fro-ing we got put into our original room after it was rushed to be finished (unfortunately they missed the chewing gum which was stuck to the recess by the bed where the phone was located).
The general surroundings were nice and comfortable and the room was furnished nicely. I enjoyed our stay, but I don’t think we’d make the trip back as I didn’t really see true value for money.

I spent a few days here with my kids and family in February 2022 and enjoyed the stay. A few issues with the heating in our suite -- too hot and also with the breakfast -- too cold... but overall a very good stay and we would go there again.

I booked 2 rooms for my wife and daughter and partner. To start with, reception mixed our rooms up which we only discovered on the last night too late to swap. Then at breakfast I discovered one of my pastries with mould growing on it. Pointed it out to the waiter who took it off me without a single comment and just walked away. Then on checkout we were informed that we owed them €160 for the basic spa. In the U.K. most spa hotels offer the spa as part of the standard package for guests with any additional services i.e. Massage etc as an extra. Finally, after a mixup with Expedia/Hotel.com not informing them I had prepaid I had to lay another €330 for my room. When I checked on my return and emailed them, it took threee dats to respond to my email to advise me an error had been made and they would reimburse. Two days later and still waiting for confirmation repayment has been made.i receved an apology for my general email complaint, but no addressing the specific points raised. We gave stayed in Abetone for 6 years now in other hotels, costing less, but with far far better service. Still awaiting a response to my last email 5 days after registering complaint.

Stayed here for 4 nights. The hotel looks great and the rooms and general areas are good. However you are charged 20 euros to use their pool. The food is awful!!!! You expect in Italy to have good tasty food. It is awful, cold, tasteless, no fresh vegetables or fruit. Service is very poor too.

This is a functional hotel, the management run it their way, but there is no guest
experience what so ever, service is very poor, the reception staff are badly trained.

The beds are uncomfortable so we have all slept poor, awful mattress and pillows. Be prepared to come back to your room in the evening to discover no toilet paper and tissues, we had to call reception to ask for more. There is no complimentary water in the room, you have to pay. There are no tea and coffee making facilities either which was a real shame.

We were on half board (dinner), on the 3rd night we discover the poor quality salad and dessert station we have been having which we assumed would be included in the half board meal supplement, you have to pay extra, it's not included.

We were here for New Years Eve, 6 course meal starting at 9pm, the food was poor quality overall and took forever to be served, and the last order was being served just after midnight! Cheap sparkling wine was the only drink we were given to toast the new year, despite paying an additional supplement for this evening. Not enough staff and they don't look happy.

Internet is very poor quality, so expect to be without wi-fi often. Their response is we are in the mountains so we have bad internet, say no more.

The gym is around 20 - 25 degrees heat, you will be hot just entering, no AC. In fact the hotel is just hot generally. The food is below average. They charge 20 euros each to use the pools, sauna and steam surrounded by children. Even if you book a 90 euro spa treament, you still have to pay to use the sauna before.

Great location, but choose another hotel to stay.

Response from Mirko C, Direttore at Val di Luce SPA Resort

Dear Guest We're sorry you rated your holiday disappointing and with a low Value for money. We apologize for the chambermaid's inattention and we are pleased that the reception promptly intervened to resolve. We are somewhat surprised by its negative judgment on the comfort of the rooms, the mattresses are new and of excellent quality, to ensure an excellent rest, as is often praised by guests. Unfortunately, to date the equipement of the rooms does not include kettles and complimentary mineral water, these are suggestions that we will evaluate with the General Management, if they can be implemented in the future. As for dinner, your half-board treatment includes a 4-course menu, including desserts. We believe that your comment is forged because on the menu are indicated prices for guests who dine à la carte. The public areas are all air conditioned and so far we had not received reports on the temperature of the fitness room. Regarding to the Internet access, we wish to inform you and the readers about the implementation of the system, an intervention made to guarantee a stable, fast connection in the rooms and in the common areas, however due to the geographical position and sometimes due to weather conditions, the powerful connection to which we are accustomed is not always guaranteed. The wellness area costs € 40.00 per person, but for hotel's guests it costs is € 20.00 per person. However, we specify that on the website are available, in addition to the Standard web Tarifs also the Wellness Tarifs that already include the Spa Area, the fruit basket in the room on arrival and the daily tea to be tasted in the Hotel bar and some Packages that include the SPA card. We also add that from 5.00 pm children are no allowed to the SPA Area to allow adults to relax. We intend to invite you to come back to give you the opportunity to change your mind about our services, and we wish you the best wishes for a happy new year. The Hotel Management

The hotel is located in an idyllic location very close to the beginner ski area which made it convenient for me.

Booked a two night stay half board and was disappointed by the services available. After a day of skiing, it would cost one 20€ to use the pool and sauna facilities. Even when paying, children are allowed to run around making a lot of noise unattended which doesn't make for a very tranquil experience.

Bar area is small with not very comfortable couches to lounge in and the only mid day snack they serve are mini frozen pizzas and ham and cheese sandwiches.

All in all it was a pleasant experience but not worth the money paid for the hotel.

Dear Guest We thank you for your review and for the compliments to the location of the Hotel, we regret to learn through the review your disappointment on the holiday. The Spa Area has an additional cost, as indicated on the website. In your case, the ticket entry to the SPA area was not included in the price of the room, as the package booked did not provide it. For guests interested in the wellness Area, we offer Wellness Packages including entrance to the SPA center, fresh fruit upon arrival, daily tea; these Packages can be booked on our online site. To ensure relaxation to our guests, starting from 5.00 pm the Area Spa does not provide access to children. The rooms and lounges are highly appreciated by customers, we are sorry that they were not comfortable for you. Regarding the snack at the bar, the food offering offers small pizzas, sandwiches but also piadine, toasts and cakes. Our guests' suggestions are precious for us, we will consider your review. We hope to welcome you soon again at Val di Luce SPA Resort. The Management

just a quick review of our stay in this hotel:
- room is freezing cold; reception is notified of the problem at 9.30 am;
- we go out for ski and be back for lunch: room still freezing cold; new call but problem not fixed
- finally they gave us another room at 8.30 pm. again freezing cold: we are told to wait until the room gets warmer !
- conclusion: my daughter (8 years old) can not go sleep and we are waiting for the room to get warmer....
and It is a mountain hotel...
never again

Its the third time here, and its still good .. the rooms are large and nicely laid out. The whole hotel has a feel of light sophistication ... and light meaning adults can relax and rest, and children are more than tolerated!
It was fully booked but in no sense crowded .. the only real sign was all the lockers were full in the boot room.
Breakfast is a nice and broad buffet, and the evening meal is wide ranging and you can choose to eat a little or a lot .. but its best to book a table as early in advance as you can.
