My friend and I stayed at the Black Pearl for six nights and our stay was fantastic. Jane and the team are so lovely and welcoming. We booked the garden room - perfect for friends travelling. The rooms were spacious, lovely decor and a great kitchen to prepare our own meals when we weren't visiting the local restaurants. The Black...

Very nice and friendly staff. Room was clean and the pool was also good. No air condition so a little hot on the nights. You can have your own barbeque there also which was great. Location is alright .

The Black Pearl isn't the fanciest place on the island, but its friendly staff and comfy beds at the end of a long day more than make up for it. It's also very close to a number of great restaurants, and the staff can organise reservations and transport to more fantastic options. I would definitely stay again.

We had the apartment next to the reception, very spacious, so well decorated, with a functioning kitchen, so clean, with white perfect walls ; a pleasure. The lady at the reception looks like an actress from California and is adorable with a good sense of humor. We had a terrible problem with the rooster next door, at 3 am, I...

Kia Orana Michael I'm delighted to hear you enjoyed your stay with us and loved your room. The roosters are very much a part of island life. They don't belong to anyone just roam as they please and strangely sleep in mango trees. Yes they are annoying. .we provide free earplugs to our guests to rooster proof ears. Being compared...

On the positive, this place has a lovely garden, friendly approachable staff and a good sandy beach for swimming. Located on the sheltered sunset side of the island, the Black Pearl at Puaikura enjoys an enviable location with a pristine beach across the road, safe for swimming and snorkelling; a magical spot to watch the sunset. A mere 15 minutes to downtown Avarua, ten minutes to the airport and twenty minutes to the eclectic hustle and bustle of Muri. Intimately set in tropical gardens around a central salt water swimming pool The Black Pearl’s 12 rooms are spacious with high vaulted ceilings. A bold, vibrant, sometimes quirky colour palette complements the natural colours of the island. All on the ground level each room has a private patio, a view of either the lush garden or sparkling pool – or both. Kitchen facilities mean you can prepare breakfast, a light lunch or dinner in between dining at a great choice of restaurants close by, many of whom offer a free pick up and drop off service. Or choose to use our poolside BBQ. The Black Pearl at Puaikura is a haven for those not wanting a large hotel with multiple bars and restaurants but rather an intimate environment where the emphasis is on personal service, a place where you can lose yourself in a tropical paradise, at an affordable price. ... more   less
