Property's Favourite Review
This accommodation is a great place to stay. Very friendly and helpful owners and staff. The unit was everything I needed and very comfortable to stay in. Just across the road is a great area of swimmable beach and it was also excellent for snorkeling. The salt water pool was lovely and refreshing and a great alternative when the sea was a big rough. Mini supermarket next door and local fruit stall across the road. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and would definitely recommend it. Thanks Janelle, Paul and Rangi. Hopefully see you again soon.

Our group had a fantastic time at the Black Pearl. Paul was very helpful and ensured we had everything we needed for our stay. The rooms were beautiful, very modern and the fans worked wonders to keep them cool. The pool was great as was the barbecue area, and they had a great collection of board games for us :)

We had an amazing time at the Black Pearl. Janelle and Paul knew all the best spots and gave great recommendations. They were fantastic hosts and went out of their way to give us a great holiday. Delicious burgers and little supermarket next door and great beach front bar a couple of doors down helped to make it the perfect spot for our group. Rooms were great and lovely to be able to cook ourselves dinner in the room and at the BBQ. Will definitely be back !

Wow what can I say - Paul and Janelle were incredible hosts. Went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. We stayed over the New Year period and Janelle saved events and specials that were happening across the island for our group - such a help! Paul even set up the BBQ patio with plates and cutlery for us on New Years Day. The local cell phones in each of the rooms (loaded with $10) were an awesome way to go the extra mile with guests. Rooms are enormous, very clean and have modern facilities. Loved hanging out at the pool and using the BBQ table space. Thank you both for having us.

I have always loved staying on this property.. The pool is the centre of attraction, clean and very inviting. You don't have to walk long distances for anything. A well stocked mini supermarket right next door. a service station, and the local buses right at your gate. Your hosts are great and will go the extra mile to make sure your stay is perfect. Having only 12 unit on the property makes it more people friendly, I just cannot find anything here that you won't enjoy. All units are self contained, so if you want, you can cook, also there is a barbeque, and a lovely lounge to relax in. I just find it a real pleasure to be a guest there. A great peaceful experience. And of course, they have Rangi in the office, I'm sure a lot of people have met her. Just go and stay and experience this for yourself.

This was our first time staying at The Black Pearl, but it certainly won't be the last. A perfect setup inside the accommodation, with a handy verandah outside with table and chairs for afternoon drinks - or meals, or to just wind down and read a book. The salt water pool is only a few steps away and was used on many occasions. Just across the road is the beach so very handy with good swimming and snorkelling. Next door is a service station/supermarket, an ice creamery and a cafe. The accommodation was very clean and comfortable and also had a kitchen with fridge. There was a continental breakfast provided on the first morning, along with a fresh pawpaw every couple of days. A very relaxing stay - thanks to Paul & co - especially Lily (the dog) who visited us many times.

On arrival we received a very warm welcome from Lily and Paul. We stayed in Room 3 which was kei te pai for us. Included were kitchen amenities and a refrigerator which came in handy as there is a superette very close by...so is a cafe and icecream parlour! Across the road is a swimable beach. Paul has scuba gear and beach shoes for guests to borrow. Both bus routes stop outside. The area is quite peaceful and not too built up. The salt water pool is a treat and is surrounded by immaculate gardens and lawn. Paul and Rangi take excellent care of their guests. They are so knowledgeable about aspects of the island and willingly assist with car hireage booking restaurants and events. Lily, the (dog) is such a character. As dog owners, we appreciate staying somewhere where pets are an integral member We made a wise choice, staying at The Black Pearl,

If you are looking for a summer holiday experience but in September, staying at the Black Pearl is perfect. Great pool, limited other guests, brilliant bbq facilities and right next door to minimart, ice cream bar and cafe/takeaways. If you are over the resorts and just want to relax this is perfect and Paul and Lilly are fantastic hosts with loads of great recommendations. Will be back many times.
